CamelCamelCamel. From a clinical perspective, it performs as expected.
Should have taken a better history buddy
That's what she said.
Its bad!!
Bought one from a recent OZB deal with Jb Hi-Fi
We have a small 2 bedroom apartment, on high battery died after 15min.
Its also not a great suction, either.
We took it back.
ie it sucks.
…but not well
Hmm my experience is very different. While the charge doesn't last too long if you put on Max, that's also the case for other vacuum like Dyson's. For the low price it's doing an excellent job imo.
dyson v8 on full power last around 12mins or less but i rarely ever use full power for hard floor.
dreame is similar, don't really last long when it's on full power.
unless you're using carpet, dreamme is just fine.
Can confirm $1200 Dyson stick vacuums also last <15 minutes on high.
That mode is ostensibly intended for specific trouble spots etc only.
And yes, I've had to explain this to my mother in law several times.
It sucks
So based on the quoted 120 AW suction power and the direction of the barrel design, this would be about equivalent to a Dyson V8?
Are there any alternatives to Dyson people would recommend that are over 200 AW? (excluding brands / models that are in the same price bracket as Dyson).
Does anyone have experience with the Shark PowerPro - is it any better than this Dreame… can’t seem to find an AW rating anywhere?
Dyson v8 is weak sauce, would not buy this if it is as weak.
I purely use my V8 for my floors. It does a great job. I hate how cheap Dyson's feel and overpriced they are but the only reason I use one is because of the myriad of affordable and abundant parts, filters, batteries and mods available (I especially like the 18V battery adaptors, no need to pay for overpriced and poor quality Dyson batteries ever again).
For vacuuming anything else like baseboards, window sills, pet beds, car seats etc where you need high suction for sustained periods, I don't think any cordless vac would cut it. Hope you have a canister vac.
I wouldn't say "poor quality Dyson batteries". From various tear downs I've seen so far, the cells used are pretty decent, see https://www.reddit.com/r/dyson/comments/1jti9wf/dyson_cordle… ("Dyson" tab).
The trade off is to make sure these cordless vacuums are light (or on the lighter side) so they have a single row of cells compared to the 18V battery packs you get with power tools which mostly comes with two rows of cells - so they're more bulky and heavy.
The real issue, IMO, is that people like to run these flat and likely on MAX or turbo/full power then see that it's blinking low battery and cutting off but want to complete their cleaning task that they're in the middle of so continue "soldiering on". It's different in the power tool / gardening tool world where you tend to have multiple battery packs and just swap it out.
Plus, vacuuming is a really power hungry and demanding task putting more stress on these cells which generates more heat but because we want small and compact vacuums, it doesn't leave much room to design battery packs with much spacing for cooling.
While they may use quality cells, the battery pack is let down by poor design
i.e Dyson purposely left out cell balancing in the BMS so that battery pack bricks itself when the cells inside are slightly out of balance. Using the vacuum on max setting all the time does increase the likelihood of the cells becoming out of balance and is why I recommended that one should also have a decent corded canister vacuum.
I have Dreame Z20 Station, it has 200AW and auto mode so you don't need to use max power (supposedly it will detect and switch power according to surface). The best part is the docking station automatically clean the dust bin (the older Z10 Station requires you to press a button for the station to clean the dust bin) and the removable battery. The worst part is they don't sell the battery (but AliExpress does).
Ah interesting… currently the Z20 is $340 @ TGG with PB and the Z30 (with supposedly 310AW, more than the 280AW of the Dyson Gen5detect) is $444 @ HN using code UPGRADE55.
Do you use it on hard floors, carpet, or both? From a quick search the main complaint appears to be that the auto mode doesn't really ramp up to Turbo / max mode unless it's extremely dirty… and when it does it "lags" in doing so, so you likely end up needing to manually switch to Turbo mode more often… and therefore drain the battery quicker as presumably you leave it on there for longer than necessary / don't switch back.
Also do you have to use the "self-clean" function when it docks, and therefore need to purchase dust bags ongoing? Is there any other disadvantage of not using self-clean other than the convenience?
I find the auto mode sufficient for my usage, I don't really have to use Turbo mode at all. My house has mixed carpet and hard floor so both.
You cannot turn off self-clean function with the docks. You can certainly use it WITHOUT the dock though, as Dreame does sell the Z10 separately before without dock. Yes you need dust bag, I replaced it once maybe 4-5 months. AliExpress has plenty of those for cheap, original Dreame bag btw not "compatible". The dock both charge the battery and empty the dust bin (which can be emptied manually just fine, it's also removable for easy clean).
Looks good for lightweight tasks

Yeah buddy
This one will replace my Dreame V10 from 5.5 years ago which i think has lost suction lately.
Your v10 came with a dock that has cordless pins, but this comes with a simple mount. so you have you plug and unplug each time.
Oh, the humanity!
so you have you plug and unplug each time
Great horrors ahead of me
This R10 is not as good as the V9, so I expect also worse than the V10. It’s ok for the price though.
Any good for dog hair?
Just wanna touch up a few areas our robot misses
It's on sale every couple weeks
Not great. I have one and barely use it, have an older Dyson still going strong.
This or one of those ‘JELLYPIG’ Chinese generic machines off Amazon?
thanks OP.
How is this vs my current dyson v8 ?
Got a blinking red light after fully charging the vaccum, is this defective or something I gotta do first? :(
Experiences ?
