    Perfect for mothers day

    • +60

Sure. Lets see how that pans out

    • +5

Most Australian mothers would probably have no idea what "Made in Cookware" is.

      • +13

They would probably ask where "Cookware" is.

        Struts out

      • +1

        Made In Cook… where?

        • +2

          Ask WA Premier Roger.

    • How many mothers do you have?

    • My wife or mother can not cook with stainless steel

      • +11

Try getting both to cook using stainless steel and see which one canโ€™t cook with it.

        • +6

Iโ€™m getting images of Jessica Rabbit using her frypan.

If I did my RAM stocks would be a lot higher…

    • Only for like 10 minutes after the post was made though, if my memory serves

    • +11

It's actually 15% off right now on Sensuel collection.

    • +4

Bump. $10 (or was it $15?) IKEA 365 stainless pan 15 year warranty. Simple done dusted. Works on all stove tops. Great quality. No faults

Not sure why people make things more complicated then they need to be.

      • Money Money Money.

      • +1

What does the $10 or $15 mean?

      • +5

The IKEA 365 stainless pan is $20. Great pan, functionally similar.

The Sensuell, and the above Amazon model, do look nicer, and are heavier.
Heavy is good for steady even cooking, but the 365 is a bit more responsive when you adjust the heat.

Stainless steel pans tend to be used for high heat, which might damage a non-stick pan.

        • Gosh darn inflation!!!

(Unless if it was always $20 bucks but I swear I got my pans for comically cheap hence $10-15 dollar range)

      • whats the difference between the 365 series and the Sensuel?

        • -2

I didn't know so I opened the like above and WOW what a rip off the sensuel is.

The difference is the price and the handle. My 365 uses a stamp metal handle that is spot welded in a couple spots and riveted in place. Rivets are smooth and easy to clean around.

Not a single fault exists on the pans I have. If you have the time go in person and see for yourself.

Sidenote, I just read that low quality pans warp easily. Not sure how true that is. Anyways, I use an induction stove only and crank it up to the max often. Once I finish frying or whatever, the best way I've learnt to clean off the burnt/stuck food is to hit the burning hot smoking pans with tap water. Done this for easily over a year and no warping at all. Still stays flat on the stove with no wobble.

          • +3

@Some Random Guy: The money is because itโ€™s full cladโ€ฆ not because of a handle

        • +9

The sensuel is fully clad. That means it's the same material all the way from the sides to the bottom. The 365 uses a puck at the base, with thinner/cheaper material on the side. Means you get better heat retention/transfer on the sides, which can be very relevant if you ever want to use the sides to sear meat for example.

Also the handle is slightly different, but really what you're paying for is the fully clad vs disc bottom thing.

          • @tofuofdoom: This is the correct answer.

          • -5

@tofuofdoom: Never have I ever thought "boy woweee I wouldn't be able to sear this steak, the pan edges are too cool". If you have that issue its most likely skill related. Its a hunk of metal controlled by you. If you're noticing issues, trust, its not because there isn't cladding…

IMO clad is a solution looking for a problem.

With the money you save you can buy yourself some nice steaks, or put money towards a cast iron (I personally don't care for them, but the physics of a big hunk of iron has it's use cases)

            • +1

@Some Random Guy: I bought a sensuell after reading Ozbargain comments. It is "higher quality" and more even, but it takes a little longer to heat up than my previous very thin cheap pan. I feel like I've stuffed up steaks (especially when slightly overcrowded) less often with the more expensive pan.

That being said, I'm not really a food connoisseur. The cheap 365 pan is probably sufficient, and it's stainless so will last a lifetime.

    • Need to visit ikea aye

    • -2

I bought the pan at full price less than a year ago. Can/Should I buy the sale price and return with the old receipt ? ๐Ÿ˜

  • +6

Been using my Benzer stainless steel no issues for the past 12 years paid 19 dollars, learnt how to fry an egg properly recently so good.

    • +2

I got a Scanpan one many moons ago on Catch of the Day (do they still exist?), and had only just busted it out again last month after learning how to properly use it. I will never fry an egg on those Teflon pans again!

What's your method? I heat it up dry till it smokes, then switch off the gas, add oil (you will see it 'shimmer'), and then add my egg. There's enough residual heat in the pan and on the cast iron stove top grate that I barely have to turn the heat back on for eggs. For something like fish or steaks, I'll let it sizzle for a minute or two before putting the gas back on a medium heat.

I used to run the pan way too hot and food would either stick or burn.

      • +2

same as you run the pan up till it smokes, move pan away from gas add some oil till it shimmer crack egg on top return to heat

if on a cold day and im impatient add a drop of tap water finger tips shaking hand on top of the pan if the pan dances the water drop like bubbles its ready

        • +2

you dont need an expensive stainless still pan

          • +5

@George Washington: Ive found some cheaper ss pans have a habit of warping where the middle will rise up slightly and oil will pool around the outer edges of the pan. Heavier and more expensive pans seem to handle high temps and thermal shock better than some cheaper ones do

        • for what it's worth, frying eggs are also great starting from cold.

Lightly oil a cold pan. Add egg. Light it on the lowest heat. When the whole white is cooked, turn of the heat, either flip it or don't flip it. Sure it takes a couple of minutes longer, but there's no smoke, it doesn't stick, and little mess.

Caveat to not sticking is the pan must be super clean. My 10 year old scanpan gets abused daily, is scratched to hell, and my wife regularly burns scrambled egg into it. But it gets scrubbed clean with a little bicarb, and my fried eggs rarely stick.

I have to Agree, Benzer pans doesn't disappointed our family.

Waiting for the 5 quart saucier to go on sale

    • Love love love my Made In sauciers!

  • Great pan - use it every day. Love it.

  • -3

    expensive

    • +3

Good tools can be expensive. The bigger question is, how good is this compared to Ikea or Aliexpress?

      • +1

Depends if you have a gas cooker or electric. For gas cooker not that important cuz cheaper ones tend to warp but if gas, the flames still hit the pan. If electric the warp will be a problem.

        • huh?

if gas -> flames hit pan -> not important for warping?
          if electric -> ?? -> warp problem?

          can you elaborate

          • +1

@SummerZero: An electric cooktop requires the pan to be making contact for the heat to transfer fully. A warped pan wonโ€™t be contacting it properly.
The flames from a gas cooktop will rise to meet the bottom of the pan even if itโ€™s warped.

  • +11

Made-in are very good quality. Very expensive though and most people don't need them.

The benefit is that they're made with a full clad design, as oppose to something like Scanpan that uses a separate base. The separate base gives even distribution along the base, but it doesn't heat up the sides like a full clad pan. And it's more prone to warping and separation issues.

The real issue is that there used to be a tonne of brands that made full clad pans for a fraction of the cost of the Made-in pans, and they were just as good. But those pans didn't have the same social media marketing as Made-in so they no longer exist. Or they've converted to making split clad pans that are prone to fail for planned obsolescence. A decent full clad pan like the Made-in pans are much like Cast Iron. They'll last you a lifetime.

    • +2

Made-in are not very expensive, Zwilling Demeyere Atlantis Saucepans are very expensive :-)

      • +8

I just checked Zwilling Demeyere Atlantis saucepans on google and they are not that expensive? Way way cheaper than an airbus a380.

    • +2

Scanpan also has a full clad line

      • +2

And that's much cheaper than made in.

      • +1

        And so does Cuisinart.

  • +4

For fu#$ sake gimme a lid. And a stainless steel one at that ๐Ÿ‘ˆ

  • How is this compared to Scanpan clad 5 ?

  • +8

If anyone just needs a decent full clad stainless steel pan with a welded handle instead of rivets, the one I've been using is much more affordable https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09GP6V3NF

    • +6

      for anyone interested

the 26cm + 30cm set is cheaper shipped here
      https://www.victoriasbasement.com.au/p/merten-storck-tri-plyโ€ฆ

compared to just the 30cm from amazon

      • Yep, they are made in China fyi

    • These are also a bit lighter than most fully clad tri-ply.

      • And it doesn't warp which is a huge plus!

    • +4

@anonym Thankyou very much for posting this! I ended up doing some more searching around for options of this brand, including Victoriasbasement (thanks @Bacons ) because they looked like they were good quality and value. But settled on a slightly different option (but still Merten Storck brand) from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com.au/Merten-Storck-Stainless-Induction-โ€ฆ

Includes the 2 fry pans, a 30cm + a 26cm, Tri-Ply construction, with the welded handle. Plus they both have glass lids, which imo makes a fry pan a lot more useful in many ways and is essential for me. I paid $156 total, and that was slightly cheaper than Victoria's Basement price, which was apparently on a special, but was sold out for this set.

So overall, I think this is a very good deal for that set, considering its only $36 more. Thanks again for your help guys and to @sickfvckadam for their original post, I hope they will last me a long time and serve me well. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ•

      • This is why I love the comments section, you often find mentions or hints of better deals elsewhere!

        • I totally agree๐Ÿ‘ I have found quite a few deals that way ๐Ÿ˜

Thankyou again for your help, you're a champion!

      • +2

Please post as a deal if you havenโ€™t already.

        • I was gonna post one, but there was only 3 items left at the time, so it didn't seem appropriate.

Also, unfortunately, the price has gone back up since this morning ๐Ÿ˜“

          • +1

@wonderboy4: Thanks for original comment and update.

            • +1

@try2bhelpful: You're welcome :) Did you manage to get one before the price went back up?

              • +1

@wonderboy4: Not something I needed but it is always good to post if you find ร  better deal.

                • +1

@try2bhelpful: Yes, I agree. I have done that a few times in the past. Every deal post helps someone ๐Ÿ‘

    • +1

I got these today and the quality seems very high to me. I haven't used them yet but the appearance and feel is really nice. Definitely the most swanky looking pans I've ever had ๐Ÿ˜…

I read that some people say they are lighter than other stainless steel pans, but I think they have a very good weight to them (definitely don't feel cheap) and the handles are very thick and solid too. The finish on the steel is very refined and the glass on the lids is thick and the lid handles are very securely attached, plus they seem to fit the pans good.

Overall I'm very impressed so far and just wanted to give an update to anyone who reads these posts in the future.

      Thankyou again @anonym ๐Ÿ‘

      • It probably feels lighter because most other stainless steel pans use a bottom plate for even heat distribution. It's basically a big puck of metal welded to the bottom of the pan, which makes them pretty darn heavy.

My wife keeps telling me that she wants 12 inches, should I get her this?

    • +1

Possibly yes but I also have some bad news for ya…

    • 6 inches not doing it for her?

    • +1

      she wants 12 inches

      To scramble her eggs?

    • Yes but she wants it in black

The images say made in italy but the description below says made in USA. Either way, it seems pretty overpriced. However, it does look well made.

    • +2

images say made in italy but the description below says made in USA.

In that case it's probably made in China.

    • I'm using amazon basic pan, seems good

      • +2

yep got the amazon stainless steel one and honestly stainless steel is stainless steel unless you've got a sub zero kitchen.

  • How does this compare to the All-Clad D3?
