Fair warning: these taste terrible compared to last year.

    • Have the ingredients changed?

      • Not sure. Didn't keep a pack from previous years. Has less of a chocolatey taste this year.

Cos they reduced the cocoa and replaced with more vegetable fat.

@runamuck: I know this gets repeated all the time, but the ingredients are:

Full Cream Milk, Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Cocoa Mass, Milk Solids, Emulsifiers (Soy Lecithin, 476), Flavours.

            Where's the vegetable fat?

            • +2

@ak47wong: its the emulsifier 476, its castor oil fat.

          • @runamuck: Actually, I think it's the other way around, they switched back to cocoa butter to comply with the laws in order to call it chocolate again but there's just so much sugar content that it drowns out the taste of the "cocoa mass" which is probably also the min needed to be called chocolate. Knowing Cadbury it's probably some chemicalized mix that's cheaper to produce though…

    Not available

  • When I went to Cheaper by Miles today they had a 6kg box of Chocolatier Easter eggs for $65. It may well be gone by now.

I managed to score 6 500g bags of Coles brand mini easter eggs for $2.50 a bag yesterday. Works out to 50c per 100grams. They taste alright too.

    • Were they made in Italy too?

I got a bag of the 120g Coles branded ones for $1.10 yesterday and I was surprised how good they were. Really emphasised how absolutely shit the Cadbury ones are.

Coles’ seasonal confectionary is normally made in China so I was surprised to see Italy on the packaging.

Funny you should both say that. I bought plenty of cadbury and saw the coles brand 500g for $2.50. Took a punt and they're pretty good.
        Yes, they're made in Italy.

  • Cadbury are terrorists in the world of chocolate.

Bought a pack of this $5 for some variety, and there was a naked choco egg inside. Somehow, it got de-foiled. https://www.coles.com.au/product/cadbury-chocolate-easter-hu…

These were 49c per box today in Coles. Use by date was August 2026.

  • Still waiting for 70c/kg . Freezes well if you've got the space.
