So Apple won’t ask at all?
You can be like 45 nowdays and go to UNI lol

it's cheaper at $16… in store
which store? and did you take a photo?
Officeworks, on clearance…
Would be worth going into your local to see what they have on clearance
Liverpool had the M3 24gb/512gb variant 15 inch MacBook air for $1047
Almost impulsive bought it then and there
Would have posted but not advertised online and they said they only had 1 in stock
that's low. low!!!
Craaaazy low, they apparently had MacBook pro 14 inch m4 series but only had ex-displau on stock… $1497
should let us know of these deals…. i bought such and such for higher
That is absolutely a bargain. I will grab it without hesitation if I were there.
Man. I would kill to come across this kind of deal. That's so low for what you're our getting.
Yea the boy/man I was 3 years ago, no questions would have bought
But I've accepted that I'm not a fan of laptops that are too big
FTR if anyone wants more than the base 16gb of memory, try going to JB Hi-Fi or Harvey Norman and try and just ask if they can do anything. I managed to score a 24gb/512gb M4 15" Macbook Air at JB Hi-Fi yesterday for $1900 down from their listed $2197.
I started off pointing to an Officeworks deal for the model for $1997 and we went from there.
Quite a few macbook deals than other windows laptops.
I'm still rocking my M2 MacBook Air 15 and loving it, such a great laptop!
on m1 14 pro… this is making me wonder if its worth the upgrade
On intel 2019 macbook pro. Definitely need an upgrade badly.
Oh man, I had a 16" i7 of those at the time. I went through three motherboards on the thing. It ran hot, performed poorly, and was unreliable (and I baby my gear),
Upgrading to my first Apple Silicon MBP (the M2 Pro 16") was like the jump from spinning hard drives to SSD, a generational leap.
Literally get any M1/2/3/whatever Air/Pro (with appropriate RAM of course) and it'll blow it away…
@xdirex: I know I have used M1 series for some duration ;) They are mindblowingly fast and efficient. My laptop cant even play youtube videos on chrome anymore. Using safari and firefox and literally burns my lap when youtube is used. Doh!
@xdirex: Was this the model Apple purposely crimped like not having the fan near the heat in an effort to make the first gen M1s look a lot better? (They didn’t need to M1 was and is freaking amazing) but still BS business practices
intel macbook are trash……….i dont know what crime you commit for using that this long….get a M series macbook…..
@Hornpub: Just had to fine tune some chrome flag and an extension and all the problems are fixed. Just google doing google experimental things that made the mac overheat lol. I was wondering how my 7 year old phone works without heating but the laptop wouldnt, but now its all good. The m series is still in the crosshairs though.
Probably only if you have high GPU requirements like rendering/gaming. The only other big question is how long Apple will continue to support that chip/model. I'm in the same boat as you with the M1 Pro, easily my favourite apple laptop of all time. Don't think I'd upgrade for a base M5, but considering the Pro. Can't afford the Max ATM, but it does look like an absolute beast.
best price yet?
Dunno, but it's a decent machine. there's so many decent deals on Macs though though it's easy to keep talking yourself up a model until suddenly you're paying $3,500 for a Mac when you were originally looking at the $900 Neo.
yeap they know how to upsell !
For basic use, this or just get an edu Macbook Neo for $920ish? (you can buy one and a spare for about the same money).
I’m torn because I’ll never use the grunt but the existing macbook air is way old now.
FYI- anyone looking for a Macbook Neo, just saw that they are $849 at costco- https://www.costco.com.au/Computers/Laptops/Apple-MacBooks/A…
The Macbook Neo is only $749 on the Apple Education Store; picked one up at launch
and $719 with then Apple On Campus (for the short term future until they get rid of it)
i think Air is the best , even tho you said basic use, unless money is absolutely the factor here, the air hits the sweet spot of price/performance/future proof (not 8G ram).
Probably go for Apple AOC M5 version, cost at least extra $151.10
