  • says has "Breakout IP Options: Select where your data exits for better performance and access" but cant see anywhere what choices are.

    • Click on "Detailed", then "Advanced Selector". Detailed Instructions in Blog post: https://www.superiorme.com.au/blog/why-roaming-sims-break-go…

      • We have just updated the site to allow breakout ip selection from the main esim page rather then needing to navigate via advanced options. It's now available under the zone selection.

For those requesting easier selection of breakout IP.

  • What's the catch hmmmm

    • Pricing Fluctuates With Currency. So Purchasing while the Australian dollar is strong is recommended. Australian business, so we do our best for you

  • for China
    does it comes with VPN
so using this Esim on my AU mobile will still be able to use what's app, facebook, etc while I'm in China?

sorry 1st time user using ESIM, normally on every overseas travel just bought local sim card

    • Getting a local SIM card upon arrival in China is nearly impossible; it's much better to secure an eSIM before you depart. I visited this February and used an eSIM that worked seamlessly with both Chinese and Google apps—no VPN required.

      • ? I literally got a Chinese sim card within 2 hours upon landing in Guangzhou. Was from a random street vendor at like 11PM 😭. I did get overcharged (charged 125 yuan but got an SMS saying "thank you for picking the 38 yuan plan"), but his service was good and I got internet so can't complain too much. It was a china mobile sim with 300GB 5G to use over 7 years so still ridiculously cheap compared to Australia.

For VPN I used mullvard. NOTE: only use american/USA servers. Everything worked fine with this setup. If you have trouble receiving 2FA SMS connected to a WiFi network and enable VOIP (this will usually let SMS route to your Aus sim through the internet).

Activation is similar to Thailand where you gotta record you turning your head side to side, open mouth, close mouth etc, along with a photo of your passport.

        • Maybe it's because you stayed in a major city, but I went straight to a smaller town where you have to buy a SIM card directly from a physical store. If you prefer using a local card with a VPN, that’s your choice—just a heads-up that China has been shutting down VPN servers lately, so make sure yours is still working before you go.

          • @GloveBear: ? I bought my physical sim card from a store. Not sure that the size of the city makes any difference. Also China has a firewall that tries to block requests to certain websites/servers/ports. Has nothing to do with VPN servers being in China. A VPN server in China would literally do nothing as that server would have to block the same websites as it would work under Chinese law. Unless you're saying that China is convincing companies in other countries to shut down. Well that's a much bigger story which I haven't heard about.

            • @Some Random Guy: What I’m trying to say is that you can’t access Google on a Chinese SIM without VPN, whereas you can with an eSIM. It's as simple as that.

              • @GloveBear: eSIM's that work in China would use roaming and tunnel to (most likely) hongkong. Also depending on the carrier apps like alipay may have issues with eSIMs as your IP address would be in hongkong while you make a purchase on the mainland.

No solution is perfect, they both have the same problem to deal with. From a value proposition, use sim plus VPN. From ease of use then ig esim but then again you still have to set up an esim so you might as well just set up a real sim lol.

                • @Some Random Guy: From my experience, mobile payments and local apps worked perfectly. While you might be okay with manually swapping SIM cards, scanning a QR code is simply more convenient—especially since you don't need a VPN. For about $20 AUD for 20GB, it’s not even that much more expensive when you factor in the time and hassle you're saving.

    • Choosing a plan with a breakout outside of China…therefore nonhkip plans is best to confirm no restrictions. Most users do not have any issues even on the hk breakout plans, however for added security you can choose a breakout from SG or UK. https://www.superiorme.com.au/esim/cn/detail?advanced=true

VPN is still suggested in China, but you can get away without it in most cases.

Looks rip off for Philippines only.
Best esim for Philippines is the one you but from Lazada(owned by AliExpress)Ph. They send the esim to your email.
You can get an esim with real number for 100 pesos and 9+GBs data. I've tried Dito that I bought from Lazada and can confirm it works. 1aud is around 40 pesos so it's a great bargain.
If you run out of 9gb then you can reload 12gb for 129pesos.

    • Thanks for your opinion

If you’ve found a better deal locally via Lazada, definitely worth posting it as a separate deal so the community can benefit and compare easily.

Our plans are aimed at travellers who want instant activation before arrival, no local signup requirements, and reliable connectivity from the moment they land. Not everyone wants to deal with local marketplaces, ID verification, or setup after arrival.

We try to provide the best value options available to us with simple activation, global compatibility, and support, which is what a lot of users here are looking for.

      • Not sure if yours comes with a local number, but local numberscome in super helpful so any plan that omits a local number should not be aimed at uninformed customers.

        • Our eSIMs are geared towards travelers.
We’re also very clear in the deal — these are data-only plans in most cases.

Most travelers don’t actually need a local number. What they need is reliable data + access to their existing number for things like SMS codes, banking, etc.

That’s where eSIM works really well. You keep your home SIM active (I personally use my Telstra SIM for WiFi calling + SMS), and use the eSIM for data. Apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, etc handle everything else while you’re overseas.

Roaming with Telstra (and most carriers) gets expensive very quickly — that’s exactly why we started SuperiorMe. eSIM gives a much more cost-effective alternative without losing access to your main number.

Local SIMs can be cheaper in some countries, but they often come with trade-offs — registration requirements, ID checks, in-person pickup, setup hassles, and in some cases you lose easy access to your home SIM. Also worth noting that in many destinations, local options aren’t always cheaper anyway.

Our focus is providing instant activation, simple setup, and reliable connectivity from the moment you land, which is what a lot of travelers actually value.

However the best option depends on your situation. We’re providing an accessible, plug-and-play option without the usual local SIM headaches.

OP, your prices aren't as good as the normal price of other sellers on the internet.

For example, I'll pick Abestesim. Their website doesn't show prices in AUD, but they're a Singapore company, so I'll show prices in SGD and show the current AUD equivalent price.

10GB/30 Days covering SE Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam) is 9.24 SGD (=$10.31 AUD)
    https://abestesim.com/products/esim-southeast-asia?variant=4…

10GB/30 Days covering Philippines is 9.38 SGD (=$10.46 AUD)
    https://abestesim.com/products/esim-philippines?variant=4388…

Both of these easily beat your $12.55 (AUD) price, even after adding the ~4% mark-up that Paypal adds for currency conversion.

Admittedly Abestesim doesn't have a 180-day activation window, they say "Our eSIMs have an activation validity period of 30 to 90 days from the date of purchase." (Under "Does My eSIM Have an Expiry Date Before Use?"). But that's not a great concern for many people.

If expiry is a concern, BNESIM has plans with non-expiring data - it never expires, and more than half of their prices are still better than yours. Set the currency to AUD near the top of their webpage, then click on "Non-expiring".

    Better prices:
    10GB/no expiry Singapore $11.61 AUD
    10GB/no expiry Malaysia $11.61 AUD
    10GB/no expiry Vietnam $11.61 AUD
    10GB/no expiry Philippines $14.10 AUD (Superior.Me price $29.38!)
    10GB/no expiry Thailand $11.61 AUD

Slightly worse price, but data never expires!
    10GB/no expiry Indonesia $13.27 AUD (Superior.Me price $12.55)

If you’ve found a better deal locally via Lazada, definitely worth posting it as a separate deal so the community can benefit and compare easily.

We can't post prices that are not marked down, under normal circumstances. All of the above prices from Abestesim and BNESIM are their normal prices.

  • Worth noting — OzBargain isn’t about one provider being the absolute cheapest globally at all times. It’s about sharing deals that are competitive and give users more options

From what we’ve seen, our offers are competitive with current promoted deals on OzBargain, which is why they’re posted. If that’s not the case, happy for a mod to step in and clarify.

We also just came off a 20% off promotion, which was stronger than the examples mentioned here.

One thing that happens quite a bit — a large provider might drop a very aggressive “at-cost” deal for a short window (sometimes a day or less), it gets a lot of attention, then disappears. That can skew perception, but it’s not always something consistently available to most users.

That’s why it’s always better to post those deals when they’re live, so the community can actually access and compare them in real time.

At the end of the day — more options is better for everyone

    • OzBargain isn’t about one provider being the absolute cheapest globally at all times.

Correct, only at the time of posting.
If you stop being cheapest, it gets marked as expired.

Then post it on ozbargain. Can I ask why you are hammering our post yet other esim providers there is no mention of better deals? If you feel there is a better deal post it on ozbargain for users to have access too? Rather then voting our deals down which are better then most providers and Australian owned and supported. We are happy for users to have all the information so they can make an informed decision.

      • +1

        Before posting a bargain

Is this really the best price on the web?

        Appropriate uses of negative vote

        Cheaper price elsewhere

        • So there is 4 other travel Sim deals active on ozbargain currently. Ours is arguably better then those in a few main areas…so why is your comment and negative vote not placed on those posts? Therefore either post offer so users can see and compare or treat every poster with the same disrespect you are currently showing here.

          • @superiorme:

so why is your comment and negative vote not placed on those posts?

Because those posts have discount codes, we're getting a better price than their normal selling price. This post by you is just "normal selling price", so it's not a bargain.

If you want to advertise your normal selling price, OzBargain isn't the place. From Wiktionary the relevant definition of "Bargain" is

An item purchased for significantly less than the usual, or recommended, price

If your contention is that your price is better than the other deals even after their discount, then you should be commenting in the other deals.

And other such deals often get comments like "trip.com is cheaper", so don't feel you're being singled out.

            • @Russ: Thank you @Russ. We are more then happy with constructive Criticism.

"If your contention is that your price is better than the other deals even after their discount, then you should be commenting in the other deals."

This is actually what we are asserting. Our normal prices are better then the discounted offer price on recent deals shown on Ozbargain. Which is the only reason we posted at this time. And according to the terms I've read we are not to comment on a competitors deal and highlight this point, but instead put up the deal as an option, rather then Negative Vote a competitors Offer.
But if terms and practice is different story we will need to adjust.

Ozbargain is great for looking up offers, and I have personally used it for years. And honestly if people put up better offers then what we can offer, good on them and people should be able to choose what's more important to them.

And just for your information we do offer topups for almost all our data plans. The Daily Unlimited Plans cannot be topped up. And local breakout can be selected for some countries.

So for people that want Australian fast support, pay in Australian Dollars, fee Free if paid by PayID, 180 day activation and competitive pricing, especially when the Australian dollar is strong, then look us up.

          • @superiorme: It's rare to see an eSIM post on OzBargain that actually is a bargain. The last one I saw was a few months ago, from BambooSIM, because their eSIMs are able to be topped up, AND they have eSIMs with local IP breakout. Both features are uncommon, and when comparing other eSIMs with that same feature set, they were the cheapest available (that I could find, searching Klook, trip.com and eSIMdb.com).
