AliExpress Local+

AliExpress have now made it easier to identify products located in Australia with the Local+ banner. These products ship from Australia, often from Amazon via MFC and will not incur a GST charge at checkout.

Coupon error codes explained:

Congrats on reading this far. Here's the reason the codes aren't applying (hint: set to USD as said countless times)

Unable to apply promo code. The total after discount (excl. shipping) doesn't meet the minimum purchase amount

GST and shipping are not included in the minimum spend and some items in your cart may be ineligible for the promotion. AUD amounts are estimates and may fluctuate due to exchange rate changes, while USD amounts do not fluctuate. To avoid issues consider switching your currency to USD and ensure the minimum spend is met before applying the code.

This coupon code can’t be used in combination with other discounts

This means the item is already discounted, excluded from the promotion or a new user “welcome deal” is being applied which prevents additional coupons from being used.

Sorry, the coupon code you entered is based on a first-come, first-served basis and has already been used by other shoppers.

This means the coupon has reached its maximum number of redemptions. AliExpress may restock these codes at random, so it’s worth checking again later.

This coupon code is now unavailable. Try collecting another

This means the coupon has already been used, you have reached the maximum number of uses allowed per user or the code is no longer valid.

This coupon code is for single use only

This means the code doesn't exist.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

AliExpress trade in USD and setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results may result in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate.

Do you guys notice that a lot of prices get jacked just as these sales kick in?

    • +4

Yes some sellers will to cover the increased costs of running a sale. They basically have to fund part of the coupon and part of the cashback ontop of the percentage sale fee AliExpress take ontop of it all. Hence why some sellers will opt out of cashback (Lenovo Xiaoxin tablets for example) or the discounts altogether.

    • wow i didnt notice that

    • Yes, I would say most. It doesn't always pay to wait.

  • +3

I’ve been a regular AliExpress buyer, but with recent price hikes, especially smaller items doubling in price, likely due to shipping costs, I’ve decided to hold off on buying until prices come down.

    • +7

Thanks Trump, Israel, Iran, AI etc.

      • +3

Iran didn’t do anything. Isreal is always going to isreal. The only one who is directly responsible is Trumpstein.

        • +2

This must be fake news. Iran are perfect and would never harm their own innocent people /s

          • -3

@Clear: Yes. Fake news. Note how Time and the Guardian are the sources. They aren’t good sources. They literally are propaganda outlets. The story doesn’t even sound real if you think about it for a minute. But even if it was real that is not a good reason for isreal/usa to destroy yet another country. If you actually are serious, read about The greater Isreal project. Basically, isreal a tiny country, expanding its borders.

And yes, far more responsible for raising our Chinese trinket prices more than Iran. Lol

            • +1

@Charity: wait wait wait. The Guardian is a propaganda outlet for Donald Trump and/or Israel to justify a war on Iran? Okay I have now officially heard everything.

            • +1

@Charity: If the news article is not from CNN, New York Times, ABC, SBS, Fairfax, BBC and not posted on Facebook then I aint reading it as they are the only news sources any normal blue haired, nose ringed person can trust

  • Unable to apply promo code. The total after discount (excl. shipping) doesn't meet the minimum purchase amount

In the previous batch I had a USD$17.50 item excl GST and it was still giving that error message so does that mean it was trying to deduct the $1.99 shipping fee even though it was free?

    • The minimum spend is what you see on the product page. Shipping, GST etc all excluded. The other possibility is that the product isn't eligible for coupons usage. Typically you'll see a red banner underneath with US$x off US$x that you can click on and shows discount codes. If it's not there then the product is ineligible.

      • Oh so that means the error message should actually be saying that the product is ineligible rather than not meeting the minimum purchase amount?

        • Maybe

    • It wouldn't be some non-existing invisible shipping fee, but it might be that some sales exclude certain deals, eg SuperDeals

Anyone notice that bundle deals disappeared?

    • Yep same here. It's disappointing. I can access it on the website but not the app.

    • Also noticing the same thing. Was still able to access on desktop and tablet last week, but can only access on desktop now.

On mobile (and tablet) It's just standard choice items now.

      • I thought this was just me. On mobile my "Bundles" cart does not sync with desktop. I posted on reddit about it, seems to be a region issue as US is not impacted by it.

    • Yes I noticed this recently as well

    • +6

AliExpress app > Account > Prize Land > Missions > Place 1 order on Bundle deals

That'll take you to the OG bundle deals. I have 0 issues with tracking doing this through TCB app for cashback.

      • Thanks, time to buy more stuff that don't meet to meet the bundle discount haha.

      • Still seems to be missing the Bundles discount (buy 6+ items etc).

      • You don't get any discount for buying 6 items tho. 3 items gives you free shipping but that's it. No discount for 6 or 10 items.

        • Wait for an AliExpress sale for that to show.

          • @Clear: I thought that discount is supposed to apply all the time. It does when you access from the website.

            • @finbar: Hmmmm yes it does seem to have disappeared. Banner still there but not the discount. We'll see what happens when the sale starts.

Maybe we will have to stick to desktop

              • @Clear: Yeah it seems that the only way to get the discount is from the desktop for the time being.

      • seems like a lot of effort. Much easier to just use the desktop version and go straight there.

        • 3 extra taps in a few seconds is hardly extra effort 😉

Too bad prize land got nerfed. I've had so many freebies come from that game

    • I can still access on PC, but not the app

  • +1

    Nice, thanks, Clear!
Hoping for a good deal on "gaming" tablets to stack with this time.
Any suggestions on what to keep an eye on?

  • Anyone know what the deal is with handheld gaming consoles is at the moment? I remember the Anbernic rg35/36 used to be posted up a lot. Are they still worth it?

    • Those devices are coming up to 1/2 years old now, so I'm assuming not being produced as much (hence the lack of discount).

Most of those devices has hit the limit of emulations for their chipset (up to N64/PS1/NDS). Anything higher will require a more powerful chipset, which usually runs Android instead (which result in a higher overall cost).

      • Thanks, I was looking for something that could do everything but didn't consider form factor.

      • Do you have a Lenovo Legion Y700? After seeing their new retro arcade dock that's inflated on AliExpress I really, really want one now.

        • Was planning to get a Lenovo Y700, but I've already got a tablet and the AYN Odin 2 & Thor, so couldn't justify picking it up.

  • +1

Of course this was bound to happen since I just placed an order last night!

  • Anyone else having delays from shipping from the last sale?

  • +5

here we go again, lol, i now have almost weekly delivery from Aliexpress, really need to stop looking !!!

    • +4

It really is dangerous. Can always find something new to buy 😂

    • What have you been buying?

  • Ahh man, I got my sights on the Mileseey TR20 Pro currently at 353.99 on Ali.

Would be great to get a discount on that (assuming the price stays the same)

  • @Clear

Anyone know how to print a decent invoice for future tax claim from Ali Express? Especially if you pay in USD.

    The thing is a nightmare!!

    Temu have a much better layout/ system…

Speaking of.. I ordered 4.8m of insulation from Temu, but received 2.3m. Can I get that sorted/ part refunded somehow without stuffing up cashback from TCB / Shopback?

    Cheers

    • +1

Before your order has been delivered it's possible to download the invoice on the order details page from the desktop website. This will have their ATO reference number used to collect GST and sufficient for tax claim. Since they're not issued an ABN you can't use airport TRS.

Partial refund etc. is going to screw up your cashback, as Temu counts the whole order as a single transaction, whole AliExpress counts each individual product/store as seperate.

      • Cheers, so get the invoice before it's delivered…wow.

I used PayPal. The invoice there wasn't too bad. Had to manually calculate the USD conversion on that date.

  • +2

I can never get these codes to work. Always tells me "Sorry, this code can't be applied. It may be incorrect, inactive, or already used"

    • These codes aren’t active until tomorrow night, 5pm AEST. If you’re referring to coupon codes in general, they sometimes have limited quantity, or expire. Often new coupon codes get introduced during a sale. You can generally check what coupons are available by looking at the second tab from the left on the Home page of the app (the tab title is typically an abbreviated form of the sale name), or clicking on the pink line, if it exists, from below the price on an item page in the app. The Home page tab for this upcoming sale is called Fall Refresh

  • Thanks as always Clear.

Has anyone got any feedback on a decent desktop charger? I am currently using the UGREEN Nexode 200W charger but it seem to cut all power when adding new devices (are there any that don't?) and also seems to struggle with charging low power devices on the A ports.

Eyeing off the Anker 250W Prime unit (A2345) but it's not cheap. Wondering if there are cheaper / better alternatives.

  • Squishy

  • Been using ali express for years but the site seems like a buggy mess since the start of these this sale (unless they're intentionally trying to price creep). Things that are on sale change price when they're added to cart. Things that were already in my cart jump in price randomly as I add more stuff, some as much as by $20 on a $70 item. I normally am able to get around this by trying again on a different browser but that doesn't fix it. Got frustrated and just ordered branded stuff off amazon, screw ali express.

    • -3

i blame the user.. either you dont know how to read or you're just trolling.. i have no issues what so ever with using aliexpress..you just got to use some brains..

      • +2

I've worked on e-commerce platforms for 10+ years and designed coupons systems. I've placed 20k+ worth of orders on ali express. I know what i'm doing and how to read fine print. Either you're blindly buying price creeped items in your cart or maybe they're doing 50-50 user testing with whatever garbage update they rolled out for this sale, who knows.

Perhaps you've got to use your own eyes and brains, do a simple google search and look at the countless threads from long term users complaining about the same thing lately. 'It works for me so no problem exists' is a clueless boomer take when it comes to things like software, lol.

    • -1

Been non stop buying all the time from every sale period, whatever displayed is exactly what I got the same price in my cart, really dunno what you are doing there …

    • +2

I agree. Its a mess or deliberately confusing.
I never seem to get the codes to work, although my total before tax and shipping is comfortably above, and all items have "coupons eligible " sticker on them in the cart 🤯🤦‍♀️😤

      • I seem to have better luck with the codes on desktop than mobile. I placed an order last night and could not get the $10 code to work, I used the $7 one instead. I have not just added all to my cart on desktop and now the $10 is working.

        • +1

I tried, but didnt have luck on desktop either. With price jacking these aren't even worth it. I had a keyboard in my cart for around 2 weeks and it was around $75 now its $81 :(

  • bought. total $23.78 lol…

wtf tracked in just 5 mins

  • Any chance for another ultimate 2c deal?

  • Any good deal for Lenovo Y700 combined with cashback?

  • what am I doing wrong?
    https://imgur.com/a/eRlgqNL

  • Can someone explain why I can't tell how much an item will be, as it only advertised the promotional $1.42 price for everything? Then of course when added to cart it gives a random discount, often only a few cents off full price?

  • Are these codes only one-time use per account?

  • @Clear is this the best deal for a 13 inch tablet currently. much appreciated for your help

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005011950790112.html?spm=a2…

    • Yes appears so

  • $4 off $29 seems to have run out
