Is this aimed at tradies, or is it DIY'er friendly as well?
Would an oridinary folk be overwhelmed if turned up there?

    • +11

DIY friendly. No need for Power Pass or ABN. People have the option of bringing kids, so it's family-friendly.

      • +2

Awesome, don't have Power Pass or ABN but am keen on visiting

    • +6

      Go for a free feed

Thursday after work Ozbargain meet-up? I'll be at the Ozito tent with my Superdry puffer jacket.

    • +5

      Bring woodworm umbrella. :)

      • +1

Mate, you're excluding those who haven't been on here for more than five years. Not seen a woodworm in yonks.

        • +1

I still have 2 of them from around 12 yesrs ago or longer

        • LMAO! I have 2 left. I can't remember how many I got from that deal…. Uniquely ozbargain though.

    • +14

Sorry friendo, Branded teams only, you will have to choose which power ranger you wish to be, makita blue, dewalt yellow, milwaukee red or ryobi green.

      • What about AEG orange?

    • Bring your Eneloop batteries along to recharge them.

    • +1

      Superdry puffer jacket

      Not the Macpac Halo jacket?

    • -1

With the weather turning colder these days, it might be Ozbargain orange Macpac, with blunt umbrellas, with an array of Olight torches on a carabiner, and paying with which ever 20x reward points gift cards on offer that week

  • +2

Hehe is the free food q sausage sizzle?

    • +5

Last time I went there there were 3-4 different food trucks open all day, pizza, fish and chips, hot dogs and some other random thing. I believe you also got 2 alcoholic drink coupons if you stayed till happy hour at 5-6.

      • That's decent!

      • Oh nice ! And all free?

Curious how long is the lines to get the food btw

        Haha coupons!

        • You got a lanyard with the alcohol coupons to redeem and they wanted them back at the door if you left before the event started, it WAS free when i went last time.
The lines were reasonable(0-15 people a line) for free.

  • What have the previous years been like?
    Generally any freebies?

    • +7

A lot of the stalls have freebies. Mostly promo t-shirts, hats etc. Free food vouchers, free water bottles, free drinks in the arvo, free coffee.

Good deals on lots of battery tools. I always stock up on Makita.

      • +1

        you got me at "freebies"

  • +2

Only going if there's a sausage sizzle.

    • +11

Yeah. It will be a sausage fest.

      • Haha there must be at least one female tradie in attendance!

    • +1

They usually have hot food like burgers, chicken schnitzel, battered fish etc. and soft drinks which I think is better than a sausage sizzle.

      • -1

        free?

        • Read the post.

      • I got a feeling peope are going to treat it as a ayce lol

        • +2

Feels like people are asking too much already. They can't be picky if it's free. Otherwise they should just eat at home or buy their own lunch lol.

          • @ronnknee: True lol

          • @ronnknee: Was there alot of ozbargainere the last time you went btw?

  • Really decent free food, I bring the kids after school.

  • But why is it on a thurs. Tradies work on weekdays.

    • lol it starts at midday and goes till 7pm

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5soBxP8zzns

    • -2

where does it say the free food is only for power pass

    • Previous years, you had to have an ABN/Powerpass to register for the event. Think they have changed it now
Was 3-4 food trucks, coffee van, drinks etc when I've been in Perth.

  • OP Thanks for the heads up.

  • I wonder how many like myself used a nickname for the name badge ? :D

Ummm… How do we receive the name badge ?
No address details were given :/

    • +1

You print it off at the booths on the day.

    • So (profanity) is already taken? :-)

      • Cant wait to see what the creative people try to get away with
My wife's already shaking her head :/

  • Did anyone go last year etc and confirm whether there was any good deals?

    • Plenty of good meals by the looks of it

  • +1

Lot of homeless/housing commission people around the moonee ponds/melbun Showgrounds area. This will be a good event for them to fill there tummys with a hot meal for free

  • Besides free food.. are there any deals?

  • -3

Any healthy food or just sausage /sandwich stuff?

  • Fam event on Thursday solved 🙌

  • Can we enter any time during 12 to 8pm btw? Like will it close of if too much people?

    • +1

Yea, can go anytime. Not sure about capacity issues, surely that would be handled by registrations.

      • Nice thanks

  • Can’t see registration link for Melbourne? Is registration mandatory?

    • Thinking registrations haven't open yet?
Yes you have to register to get the QR code to scan to prt a ticket/badge upon arrival

  • Any benefit for providing power pass details on registration?

    • +1

Puts in you the draw to win a $500 voucher

  • Can anyone that is going early drop some highlights of the special deals that they have on bigger kits (and if there any special redemptions as well). I know from last year Dewalt had some awesome deals for larger kits - so just seeing if its worth going later

    • The Dewalt value pallet and tool auction starts at 2:30 according to the schedule, might be worth going for that if you're looking for deals.

  • Whoever is there, what food are they serving? Sausage or standard lobster?

    • +3

      Reporting live:

Chicken burger, beef burger, vegetarian burger, fish and chips, pulled pork tacis, and vegetarian nachos.

Hot chips, meat pie, vegetable pie, and sausage roll.

One item from each list above.

      • Nice work mate

Just went to the Adelaide one as a non tradie. I think for a non- tradie maybe think if you need drill bits, impact bits or blades before going. If you need power tools, yea there's some decent sales on everything. As a non-trade i think an ozito or ryobi stand would have been off the charts but sadly not there.

See below if you think its worth it
    -Super busy between 5-7pm,
-I would say about $50 of free food per person.
    - Free parking depending on venue?
    - spend $x get a gift card cashback at checkout which is awesome value with the deals below.
-10-50% or more off 18v kits, drill bits, impact kits, blades, bolts screws
-A lot of people were buying tool boxes on wheels like" DeWalt "tough system" where you get free drawers with it
-kids get a free bunnings trade high vis vest and workshop apron

    • An Ozito stand with 10-50% off would have made it more interesting

      • well the big discounts were mainly on the drill and impact bit sets. My maths is terrible if we are talking tools it was the $500-5000+ with the bigger discounts and gift card deals. In saying that i think Adelaide dates might only line up with the gift card offers from the retail side of bunnings.

  • I registered for melbun event and for the question ‘how did you hear about this event?’ I put down ‘other - OzBargain’
