  • Won't the heat of a childs pocket and hands make these pictures fade within a week or two?

Perfect for their attention spans I guess.

Is it easy to get thermal paper refills of this size?

Kmart sell the 3 packs for $6

      • My order was immediately cancelled.

Yes 57mm is a standard receipt printer size you just need narrow spools (57x25mm). I buy the sticker paper on aliexpress

  • Anyone know if this supports Bluetooth printing, like their non-camera model?

    • +4

      Doesn't sound like it.

Side note if anyone has the blue and yellow camera printer also from Kmart, I've been messing around with making an app to connect and print using bluetooth. The official "WalkPrint" app is shite. If anyone's interested in trying or helping out with my android app let me know. It's currently in a functional but basic state

Thermal paper (receipts) causes high BPA/BPS exposure through dermal absorption, with handling as brief as 10 seconds potentially exceeding safe-harbor limits. Cashiers and retail workers face the highest risk, with some studies finding urinary BPA levels indicating significant absorption during shifts. Many retailers have shifted to BPS (bisphenol S), which is equally toxic and also rapidly absorbed.

    Key Factors for Highest Exposure
Handling Frequency: Cashiers handling hundreds of receipts daily show the highest exposure levels.
Skin Condition: The [link:https://www.bassmedicalgroup.com/blog-post/are-receipts-toxic-bpa-bps](BASS Medical Group, 2025) and [link:https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0378427418302224](other studies) show that handling receipts after applying hand sanitizers, lotions, or creams significantly increases the absorption rate.
Concentration: Individual thermal receipts can contain BPA at levels 250 to 1,000 times higher than that found in canned food.
Duration: While even a few seconds can transfer the chemical, prolonged contact increases the dose.

    How to Reduce Exposure
Decline Receipts: Opt for digital receipts when possible.
Use Protection: Cashiers and frequent handlers should wear gloves.
Hand Hygiene: Wash hands after handling receipts, particularly before eating.
Avoid Contamination: Do not allow receipts to touch food.

Perhaps you missed the "BPA and BPS free" in the description?

      • +3

Both the box and the instruction manual say "BPA Free paper", not BPS free. I wonder whether the web site description is accurate.

There are third party paper rolls that are BPA and BPS free: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B082HB4JJD

      • Yeah I feel like Kmart has a bit of a trust building to do first after the asbestos drama we went through

        • Gosh the amount of misinformation out there about asbestos and silica. It's in a lot more than you think, unfortunately.

      • +7

They just sub BPA for some other chemical that does the same thing but hasn't been around long enough for people to prove its bad. You can't trust these people as far as you can throw them

      • Sounds like a bargain

ScienceDirect.com sounds like a very reputable source.

      • You can either care about the alleged harmful effects of bisphenyl compounds or not, but questioning the source without offering any contrary evidence of your own is a weak move.

Probably not relevant for this deal however I was unaware of how bad these were in other parts of life. Thanks for letting me know!

  • there are similar ones on AliExpress as this one is sold out

My kid has the myfirst thermal cam and puts the prints in an album, most have only lasted about a year, may be the paper idk. Best to make sure you take them off the SD card every now and then and that way you can print the good ones off properly too

    • Are they black and white?

      • Colour. The black and white is only on the thermal prinout

    • +1

Yeh thermal paper only has an expected printed life time of 1 to maybe 2 years according to most manufacturers, much less in non optimal conditions.

  • Any deal on the thermal labelled? Last I checked AliExpress was cheaper

  • Showing OOS for me

  • 5068 clicks, 22 upvotes lol.

  • Has it shipped for anyone here? No updates since I placed the order yesterday.
