160

EDIT: 100% ONLY on monthly plans, yearly/2 years now 80%, good as expired for most of us here

i have no clue why you'd want this over nordvpn (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/955348) but this one has no expiry date listed. ALSO OWNED BY ISRAEL LIKE EXPRESSVPN

tips via @trixieb (old post, conversions/details may be out of date):

  • Best value is the Basic plan for 2 years (+ 4 months) A$75.14 (estimate).
  • Cashback is for the VPN service only (no add-ons).
  • Use a new email address for Private Internet Access if you have bought before.
  • The tracked amount in your TopCashback account will be slightly lower than what you are charged. This could be due to the fees/taxes. 100% cashback minus the fees/taxes.
  • If your order does not track, please cancel and request for a refund from Private Internet Access within 30 days under their 30-day money-back guarantee. Please don't submit a missing cashback claim.
  • You can cancel auto-renewal after you have received cashback.

For better tracking, use the TopCashback app, click the 'Get 100% Cashback' pink button to the Private Internet Access website, mobile data (not Wi-Fi) and Chrome browser.
TA's Tracking Tips:

  • Prior to using TopCashback, disable/remove all 3rd party plugins (AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, Honey, etc), VPNs, avoid browsers such as Brave and close any additional browser tabs.
  • For iOS device: Apart from ensuring you’re not using an AdBlock app for Safari, the most important one is to ensure you have ‘Prevent Cross-Site Tracking’ turned off (see here).

  • What will stop me getting my cashback

    • Cashback is eligible only on 6-month and 2-year plans. Cashback is ineligible on all other plans & products, including any upsold items.
    • Cashback is only eligible for New Private Internet Access Customers. Renewals are ineligible for cashback.
    • Private Internet Access is excluded from all signup and referral bonus thresholds. Reference the Tell-a-Friend terms for more information.
    • Cashback is ineligible on use of any codes not approved and posted by TopCashback.
    • Cashback is ineligible on use of any gift cards, vouchers, or store credit for partial or full payment. Cashback is also ineligible on purchase of any gift cards.
    • Cashback is ineligible on purchases made via the retailer's mobile app.
  • What else is essential

    • Private Internet Access orders report to your account excluding GST and other taxes, and may show a further difference in purchase amount due to international conversion rates. This is beyond our control.
    • Engaging with plugins such as Honey, AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, VPNs, DNS AdGuard, and browsers such as Brave may prevent your order from tracking.
    • Accept and allow all 3rd party cookies on the retailer's page if requested.
    • Return to TopCashback to click the 'Get Cashback' button for each new transaction.
    • Transactions must be completed solely & wholly online and must not be assisted or negotiated via phone/chat/email. Failure to do so will cause tracking to fail and/or have cashback declined.

You forgot to mention that apparently Kape, the company that owns PIA, bought a collection of VPN review websites and changed its rankings to list its own VPNs as the best.

I will say, however, to be fair to Kape, it was their predecessor, Crossrider, that did the "malware distribution" and the same website you cited states that Crossrider didn't even create any malware, but instead "created a development platform that third parties used to infect devices with malware. However, Crossrider itself was not the owner or creator of that malware."

They've also written this article, which states that they had completed a third independent audit that examined and confirmed their no-logs standard. It also states that PIA said they received multiple legal requests to obtain user data but did not provide any because they don't keep logs.

Deloitte have themselves been caught using AI to fake data and generate reports from it. They had to refund our own government when a report they delivered was created using AI that faked academic resources and even faked federal court rulings. They're as trustworthy as PIA, Kape, or any of the rest (that is to say: not at all).

        • That’s very interesting. Their Wikipedia page is also full of cases of bad auditing and scandals, where they had to pay out tens of millions. While there doesn’t seem to be any evidence that their auditing of VPNs is flawed, it’s completely understandable why someone might not trust Deloitte.

With all their history, it’s kinda crazy how they’re apparently the largest professional services network in the world, with a revenue of 70 billion last year. I don’t know what it is but they’re doing something right.

      • Do they offer a free pager 📟 with the deal?

  • Trust no one and nothing??
