Apparently you get put into different behaviour queues depending on if you attacked other raiders during the game.
Friend played looting only because he was achievement hunting, and met like 99% friendly raiders who bring around defibs to revive strangers.
This. It tends to match PvP players with other PvP players, but this is also the nature of the game, it's not for everyone. Also squads/duo's tend to be more PvP than not.
It's been the most I've enjoyed a game so far in a long time, I don't even normally like this style of game but it's just been a whole lot of fun.
I've been wiped out by ARC as well as my own stupidity more than other players.
Unfortunately there is an issue where if you go into a game with a free loadout and resign from the game, and repeat the process 7 or 8 times it resets your aggression level. So the aggresive players have been doing that to then load in to care bear lobbies, kill everyone and take away all the good gear.
Yes its a pvp game, but the mechanics are so drasticlly weighted towards aggrssive players, the vast majority of pve players like me have stopped playing. Its become an absolutly pointless game to play as i cant take any good loadouts in any more, and the good old days of teamwork to take a queen or matriarc down are long gone as people just wait to snipe you once you do the work.
There is so many easy to implement solutions to keep the game going, but none of them are being considered.
Its a real pity as its a great game, the devlopers have shot themselves in the foot tbough as someone will clone it with better mechanics and everyone will go there.
Genuinely curious, when did they say they had planned to add PvE? I know they trolled a bit with one of the map conditions because it sounded like a PvE mode but they never actually said it was, just people assuming it would be.
Personally from what i saw the game was never advertised or sold as PvE only, but i only PvP in duos or trios.
When it was in early development it was originally just PvE, they added PvP and released in its current PvEvP form.
It's still a new game and who knows what they'll add/change in future, everyone likes to complain about it because that's what you do apparently.
I for one love the game, and have had mostly positive experiences which I like to think is a reflection of how I am as a player.
And yeah, squad/duo tends to be more PvP than solo, I think people are a bit bolder with backup.
Theres some making-of docos by Noclip on youtube. Basically it started as PvE early on in development but the developers all thought it was boring and missing something and just wanted to shoot eachother - I suspect this has to do with their other game The Finals being PVP.
They've hit gold finding the middle ground.
The Auto-balanced match-making (which I wish they never admitted too) likes to put you in matches with like minded players. Don't shoot and after 5 or so rounds you'll find it a lot friendlier.
This doesn't work for trios though, which are basically always violent. Duos is 50/50. I play all modes and float whether I am friendly or ghastly depending on how I feel. The mix is great.
I've done all the expeditions so far (wipes) and am tiring of it now. Not playing much until the new map drops as I'm not great at PVP but do enjoy it regardless, and I can't be bothered farming the new blueprints - but the new shotgun looks like fun.
There isn't much of an endgame (compared to say… Destiny) but that doesn't really matter unless you play hundreds of hours.

There you go, i only really looked into it when the server slam test started so i didn't know it was PvE in early development.
I personally find PvP in solos boring as its a lot of people camping or ratting, which is made even worse by the third person perspective, duo and trio you generally have a just to recover from that sort of situation. My main gripe at the moment is getting put into trio lobbies as a duo with no warning, if they need to do that for queue times at least warn us that we are in a trio lobby, completely changes how you play.
@terriblebargainer: Try getting placed into trio lobbies as a solo! No, i have soloe vs squad disabled :-)
As frustrating as it is, its still the most entertaining game ive come across in years
@mnemonic9: Good point, haven't had it happen to me as a solo but i do recall a duo game someone accused us of teaming up in solo. He was not pleased when we told him we were in a duo. It honestly wouldn't be that hard for them to warn you that you are not in the lobby you are expecting.
Don't shoot back, after about 5-10 rounds of this you'll end up in friendly lobbies
Get good like the PVP players who wait until your looting before opening fire or camp extraction and wait for you to start pressing the extraction buttons?.. the only time the PVP player loot anything is when they go over your corps.
Just avoid this game its turned into a cesspool of scumbags

The aggression based match making system doesn't work anymore because as soon as there isn't enough players on during that time in the day you are put in with whoevers online aggressive or not.. This is only getting worse and worse as more people like me quit the game.. its a exponentially getting worse and worse with more and more friendly players quitting the only people who will be left playing this game will the the PVP'ers and Rats who fake being nice. wait for you to start looting a crate and shoot you in the back
Firstly so we don't have to address false accusations later, i only PvP in Duo and Trio, and if we come across another team in Duo and Trio that ask to be friendly we are happy to oblige and we will honor that. And i also hate extract campers so i never do it and never try and hold teams out of an extract, once its open we go. We have had to kill plenty of teams that were baiting people with an open extract or trying to stop people from being able to extract. I live the PvP aspect but not that style of PvP.
If you want a PvE mode that is cool, and i hope the devs can try and accommodate that, even if its just one map or mode that is PvE to test the waters. But to call people idiots for wanting to PvP in a game that is a PvPvE game is toxic and you are just bringing yourself down to the same level as the rats.
I disagree. Having received over 7K in PVP damaged and not firing a shot at another raider, i have been placed in PVP lobbies in succession. $135k loadouts gone by focussing on trials and quests only to be shot in the back.
I've had enough so the sweaty COD\Battlefield player in me has come out shooting everything and anyone. Get in, get what you want and get out. Trust nobody especially when in a party and no i am not a rat. I do not camp the exfils or sit on top of buildings and snipe people

It's probably worth mentioning here that you absolutely don't need to take in $135K loadouts - and actually doing so is crazy because there's a decent chance you will lose the lot ! The fancier guns are basically pointless for this reason - why risk them when you don't need to ?
The Anvil and the Ferro together are more than enough to complete all the quests and trials. I very rarely take in more than those two - if I need to kill big Arc then I will add some Wolfpacks and/or Deadlines.

Amazing. I've clocked out until the new map (after 400 hours) but sheesh - there is some magic in there.
What's the currency they use to proceed transactions. USD?GBP? I think it's cheaper to just pay in their currency instead of letting oz bank using their exchange rate,right?
If you want PVP lobbies shoot other players
If you want PVE do not shoot other players at all (even if they shoot you) for 5 or so raids
Also, use your mic it's 2026
And play NA servers. The ping is still fine but you have a lot more genuine interactions rather than OCE.
I play Oceania servers and the interactions are good. I get a lot of Kiwis haha.

It's not on isthereanydeal because it's not an "official" supplier - you don't really know where their keys are coming from. But, they've been around for literally decades (as cdkeys.com) with no issues, their keys are fine 👍

Sometimes, something great makes no one particularly happy. Does this game make me pissy sometimes? Yep. Do I feel a massive sense of achievement sometimes when I manage to extract in the middle of chaos? Yep.
It's exactly great because of the highs and lows.
Having said all of that, I find it tiring and can only take so much - I can't play it non-stop over and over.
It's not for everyone.
Yeah like I'd heard everyone frothing this game so I bit the bullet and got it. Took me like two runs to discover it was a chores simulator where normally you were dead in the first 2 mins anyway. Like, if getting immediately murked hunting for copper wire was horny-making for me, I'd just hit up the train yards off Dynon road instead.

Safe to say that if this ever was a reality, mankind would be at a loss. Think of all of those post apocalyptic movies - if you don't shoot first, you're rib eye fillet to cannibals.
In saying that though, i've come across some fanstastic lobbies with friendlies and teams working together to take down ARC. I do think that a dedicated PVE lobby would make this game much more enjoyable for a lot of new players including myself having only got onto it about 6 weeks ago.

did lots of No shooting, turned off cross play, when the first mention of lobbies based on behavior people played nice for a while only 1 rat in 10 games, now its 50/50 again..
in some games find the best of Humanity and sometimes the worst..
Lol everyone complaining about the PVP - go play Escape from Tarkov and come back, you will appreciate this game a lot more.

same sentiment as the OP. Literally stopped playing the game because I was over getting killed whenever I was vulnerable. Like many other, would love it if it was PvE, would defo come back to explore the world etc. if they add PvE like they originally planned.
