I have one and while it’s great machine but it’s definitely not worth the price, I got it for a great price and basically paid $240 for it in December (I had $1160 credit rewards from Lenovo that was going to expire by end of Dec nad it was on sale for $1400)

It is very heavy and my hands get tired from using it sometimes, good thing is the controllers are detachable. So maybe if you are going to use it mainly docked as a computer and take it with you when you travel, it’s better getting a laptop instead.

    • 1400 is a good price, lenovo now are charging over 2000.

Bought a kettle for $20 and although it doesn't microwave food… for $130 less than a microwave it does more than enough

        Yep these are completely comparable

The irony blindness you got is insane.

For anyone confused about the chipset, the Z2 apu is just a rebranded z1e

    Z2e > z2=z1e > z2go > z2a

Consider that the Go 1 was $750 a few years ago, and the Go 2 is more than double the price with very limit upgrade

If the OLED is worth it to you then the price is justifiable. Personally I would recommend a used z1e device over this if budget is a bigger concern.

I've been tempted by portable gaming so many times but I ended up using all that money improving my home wifi setup instead.
Can stream all my consoles & PC's throughout the whole house now.

I'm never a situation where I have a long waits, commute times or can even use it in public/social environment.

For this price, best to just get this for much better performance: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/953583

    No OLED though.

    • Why does it perform better?

      • Z2e chipset. Says z2 on the post but if you click through to the actual product it’s a Z2e.

Much, much better than the ROG Ally or Steam Deck and with 32GB RAM.

For this price you could run Cyberpunk 2077 on the GO 2 at a much higher fps than the crappy 16GB steam deck, which is probably one of the worst handhelds for modern gaming and only good for retro stuff.

OLED be damned when games run at 20fps to play more than two hours on the road lol, people are dumb.

    • +1

Lol all negative votes but no comeback as to how steam deck is superior, when you can also install Steam OS on Legion Go 2 as well.

      The stupidity is real

The Steam Deck is great for what it brought to the table at the time, and what it represents in getting portable PC gaming more into the mainstream (with Deck Verified and Steam OS). And still great for older/indie titles.

But Steam Deck fanboyism can be a bit ridiculous sometimes.

I think this is not much much better than Rog Ally (Z1E) though.

I purchased this exact model around Black Friday last year at $1400, and whilst I still think it was a bit too much for that price, I recognised it was a better proposition than the Z2E model which I think was at I think $1800, or the XAX at I think $1600 at the time.

Yes, you definitely feel the weight of it but I work around it by either bracing it on my knees when playing, detaching the controllers or have it docked to my 4k tv and use Steam link to my main PC.

I also opened it up and swapped in a 4TB M.2 drive (before they went crazy in price) and has been great for my handheld gaming needs, at home whilst watching sport/TV or when travelling. The HDR with the OLED has been magnificent.

These ridicuclously priced PC handhelds are about to be annihilated by PS6 portable. Only Valve has the ability to produce a tight, well priced machine people are willing to sacrifice some perfoamce for. Asus, MSI, Lenovo et al just can't compete.

    • Having a handheld be restricted to Console games is gonna suck though. The only reason PC handhelds are in such demand is that they access to the most number of games plus getting them for a much much cheaper price since PC games tend to go on sale much faster and cheaper

Even if there is. PS6 portable, it wont be able to beat a PC handheld’s offering

      • It'll come down to price IMO.

Back when the Z1E handhelds were sub $1k they were a very compelling proposition but it's a much harder sell at the current price points. Given Sony's recent price increases though, not sure if either of these categories will be able to take attention away from the next flagship smartphone.

        • Not until RAM prices go down. When that is, who knows

      • Good thing about PC is that you dont have to worry about backward compatibility or having to pay $30 for "next gen upgrade" / unlocked FPS mode

  • FYI still available at this price for now, even though the deal was supposed to end yesterday.
