HCF Discontinuing "HCF Thank You" (Lifestyle Rewards) Gift Card Platform on 30 June 2026?

After logging in, there is a banner at the top of the HCF Thank You page:

From 1 July 2026, HCF Thank You offers will no longer be available in the My Membership app or online member services. To access your new member offers now, download the HCF Thank You app.

HCF has maintained two "Thank You" gift card platforms for a while now - one by Lifestyle Rewards, and the newer one by eGift It. The former (Blackhawk/Lifestyle Rewards) is the one most would be familiar with - where you get upfront savings on a range of gift cards, accessed via a web browser. The new one is accessed via an app and doesn't seem to provide upfront discounts for gift cards - rather the savings are added to a balance that can only be redeemed once the balance reaches $20 (either withdraw to a bank account or pay HCF premiums).

It's a shame if it's going away because I've really appreciated having access to Lifestyle Rewards.

My interpretation of the banner is that the Lifestyle Rewards portal will be gone from 01 July 2026.

There are a few downsides with the new app:

    • There is no search function, so you have to scroll through the full list of offers to see what is available. What kind of moron decided a search feature was not necessary?

    • The range of gift cards offered by eGift It is much smaller than Lifestyle Rewards (e.g. no Category Choice, no Restaurant Choice).

    • eGift It applies a 1.8% surcharge to all card payments (and this is not mentioned until you are part-way through the checkout process).

    • eGift It appears to mandate 3-D Secure checks on all card payments, which would mean using prepaid gift cards as a payment method to stack savings is out the window.

The only upside for me is that TCN Restaurant gift cards are currently sold with a decent everyday cashback rate (even after factoring in the payment surcharge).

    • Cant believe they still don't have search

HCF have got to pay for all of their TV adverts somehow.

  • Damn. I use HCF Thank You a lot.

I assumed the new portal would just be the same via app. Seems like it'll be a big downgrade. 😔

Wait what? You mean you can't use the online portal and you have to use that Android app that literally sits at 1.1 stars on with people literally talking about how atrocious it is on every review?? Tell me your lying, please. I HATE adding bloated apps to my phone that does worse then what a website was already doing fine with. I'm okay with apps as an option, but making it the only way ew.

  • Yeah, I'm not happy. I have used the HCF Thank You a lot for gift cards.
I want my savings upfront, not as "cashback subject to a minimum limit".

Fortunately, I have another service provider I can use instead. Maybe check what is available through your other insurers, salary sacrifice / lease providers, etc.

  • I find the normal app not working now for buying Category Choice Grocery gift card others do maybe they have shut it down early. Boo.

    • I started having the same issue a number of weeks ago when trying to access the HCF Thank You website (both via the HCF app and the HCF website).

I found that enabling pop-ups for the HCF website fixed the access issue in both situations. Have you tried that?

I was able to access the HCF Thank You website a couple of minutes ago, so the website is working for me.

      • Thank you for that. I will try what you suggest.

  • I can't see that banner, did I just miss it after it was shown once? Or did they come to their senses to stop this dumbass plan? That would actually be a deal breaker for me, I would have joined their insurance without the 3% off grocery and fuel if it wasn't advertised as a perk to join to begin with, but taking away a perfectly working solution that people have already gotten used to, and forcing people to download an app they know is shit with less benefit and an additional fee is gonna leave a bad taste in many people's mouth. I'm gonna do some math to see if there's another insurance provider that provide more value, they can't be the only cheap ones around.
