This is not going to end well.

    • Not a very chairitable prediction. Is there something the matter?

I had to put my foot down for this…

    • Definitely no good for chair, but I use it as a carpet protector at the front door entrance. Its thickness is excellent for it.

      • As long as people don’t walk on it, that is an excellent idea.

        • Don't know why it's works for you this way, my working more than 10 years, safe my carpet from be destroyed in wet weather.

Not even worth $5, this stuff is landfill.

At 2mm thick thin, your chair wheels will dent the f out of this mat if you're using it on carpet, you don't even need to be overweight.

Any chair mat that comes rolled up for intending to use on carpet is a waste of money.

Anytime someone asks me about these sorts of things, I always ask them how they feel about stained wood?
Japan Black stain on some 7mm or 12mm structural C\D Ply is cheap and effective - Sub $50.

If not staining, you can glue cheap marine carpet or even just an old sheet to it, which then gives SOME resistance so you don't launch your chair into your TV if you stand up from the desk too quickly.

      • Marine ply and adhesive carpet tiles available for free 365 days a year from the skip bin but i guess if the company card is paying, $300 for a bit of plastic is another option…

The trick is to stack 5 of them

If you're wanting a legit chair mat for carpet, do yourself a favour and spend the money proper. I just picked up an Anchormat Deluxe from my local Office National price matching the one in the link. It's the cheapest I've found for this brand/model.

It'll last more than a decade, and doesn't drive me up the wall trying to wheel around on my chair going over dents and divots like these cheapo ones do.

      $241.08?!
Now I'm genuinely curious - What made you want this over a sheet of…. anything else solid?
Is it something you fold\roll up often to move?

As I mentioned above, I went wood for $45 and painted to match my desktop.

      • I had a similar mat that I was given from work over 10 years ago, which was heavy duty and commercial grade. That ended up cracking, I reckon it was at least 15 years old.

I wanted something close to this, and the Anchormat was the only thing I could find that had an acceptable price tag in my eyes for a legit carpet chair mat.

Prior to this, I grabbed a rolled up upon delivery mat (similar to the one in this deal), and returned it straight away. Didn't want to waste my time on these flimsy rolled up mats that say 'heavy duty'.

The Anchomat is sold flat, you cannot roll it up even if you tried. It's legit heavy duty.

I thought if this mat gets me 10 years, that's $24 per year spent. It has warranty for 12 years.

It's also aesthetically pleasing on the eyes to, as this is used in my work office at home.

          Completely fair :)
You'll never convince me plastic is more aesthetically pleasing than blackened woodgrain; but it's not my house now, is it.

    • Anchormat Deluxe

      It’s $241.08 each

You’re saying Office National price matches a $5 one from Officeworks?

      • No, they're just recommending another product 'if you're wanting a chair mat'.
        I too, questioned that price!

  • Contain no banned substances awww

    • They have set the bar very low there.

or these ones from MatShop with a 12 year warranty, mine's still going after 8 years

    • Yeah, I checked out these ones too. I believe they are made in the US if I remember correctly.

I think the price of these were more than the Anchormat brand I decided on going with. I reckon they are essentially the same manufacture.

Strangely, can't access their website at this minute due to Cloudfare host error lol

Even the office works thicker ones cracked quickly so had to return and changed over… i just cbf going back again as the replacement has done same thing.
So doubtful a thinner one will do jack

    • Even the office works thicker ones cracked quickly

I've had mine for about 5 years and they are still going strong.

I just use a cheap rug. Looks and sounds better, and doesn't crack compared to a plastic mat.

  • This would be a great investment due to the PVC shortage.

  • Is it working on timber floor?

  • +1

For what its worth guys, i got a glass one and have never looked back, works so well and chair slides easily on carpet, even dropped things on it and it hasnt broken

  • none of the plastic ones last more than a few months,
i got one of these 3 years ago, its been the best.
    survived one move
and has not cracked with 300kg on it

    • and has not cracked with 300kg on it

Did you test it by placing a baby elephant on it?

    • +2

Slippery … but the edge of the glass can be a hazard.

  • Thanks! Picked one up to protect my coffee station countertop

just swap out your rubbish plastic office chair wheels for the rubberised roller blade ones.
