      doesnt 'cost them' 50k probably cost them zero as it is a 10% discount i would argue they would have at least a 10% market up on most products - in addtion this gets people 'in the door' so they will ideally spend money on other things too making them a profit

      having a limit on the amount one can purchase would make sense to stop 'stock piling' but a limit on purchases is a bit strange imho

        Giving a 10% discount means a loss of revenue that's not nothing, that's a loss in profit. In the world of bean counting, that's how marketing promos work. They're given a budget of $X of dollars how it's reduced on the balance sheet doesn't matter but there will be a reduction that needs to be tangible and recorded.
