good luck getting that price again.

  • Damn sexy cam i regre getting fuji xt50

    • Way bigger and heavier. Almost double the weight when you factor in lenses. Since you already bought the xt50, you definitely didn't have the need for a full frame.

What lens are you currently using?

      • oh ok.. didnt realise this one is bigger yeah one thing i dont like about fuji is a bit too big and heavy.
i have mostly viltrox ttartisan lenses

  • Great camera that gets even better when you add a grip. This is a cracking price considering it comes with the 40mm lens too!

  • If you're a bit DIY, you can replace the faux leather with another colour. I believe Nikon sells the spare parts.

  • Is this a good camera and price for someone who wants to get into photography and move up from just smartphone photos?

    • This is the "on special" price basically. Excellent camera and lens. If you can live with the colour, its so so good. I had one, ended up returning it because it was too big to carry around. The phots that came out were gorgeous.

    • this is pro- enthusiast grade camera

    • Very solid starting point if you're getting into it and it's a pretty crazy deal.

Body itself usually discounts to this price ($2200-2300) but you also get the 40mm kit lens too.

    • if you're just getting into it, get a used body. Z6 could be had for 800 now used.

spend more of your budget on glass(es).

    • It's a proper high end camera. Plenty of pros use this camera. You can get plenty of much cheaper cameras that will still be a massive leap over smartphone.

Look at apsc models from Sony, canon, Fuji and Nikon.

  • This camera is horrible to hold and operate. Very uncomfortable to use.

    • my thoughts exactly. I was considering getting one, but it is such a step down from EOS R in terms of ergonomics.

internally it's pretty much same as Z5ii which is a better choice ergonomically, and much more comfortable to hold and use. especially if you want to put on larger lenses. plus z5ii works with battery grip.

      • I don't get the point of the retro styling either since there are only about 2 cheap primes which match the aesthetics of the camera, but all other nikon lenses just look out of place on it. I guess if you stick to the 40mm and get a grip for it, it can be cool but for the price there are better options

        • yeah. if it was retro and smaller / lighter maybe. I don't know. it's just a huge brick.

I would even say retro 28mm is a better choice, 40mm a bit too tight. I shot non-se variant on my Z6. good lens, though. 28 would be more versatile

but really this sensor does wonders with better lenses, even 1.8 S primes. but as you correctly mentioned, they look out of place on this body. head scratcher

        • but all other nikon lenses just look out of place on it.

          35mm and 50mm f1.4 match the aesthetics.

        • I feel like Nikon Z lenses don't look good in general haha. Can't put my finger on why, they all just seem cheap and oddly designed coming from Canon. I enjoy using Voigtlander and Thypoch on the ZF though, makes for a fun manual shooting experience :)

  • Great price!
    Price went up again now.
