I'll be honest and be very wary about overseas travel after July.. that's when the proverbial waste hits the fan. Be prepared for widespread cancellations - your money will be used as interest free financing in the interim.

    • Ita started already lot of Asian flight cancellations ATM.

    • What happens in July, why would there be widespread cancellations? 🤔

      • because 'doom and gloom'

    • Good can go to bully them now

Not sure why you are being downvoted. The article you linked is fairly concerning tbh.

      Between:
      • 'Sri Lankan authorities arrested a young man for pasting pro-Palestinian stickers',
      • visa-free entry for Israeli tourists, and
      • Lankan govt. helping an Israeli crew film Arugam Bay where 'childhood friends' from the same IDF unit 'visit Sri Lanka to heal from a traumatic experience.'

      How heartwarming!

@life is suffering: Not all, but the way they are behaving has locals concerned. Unfortunately also the best place to go in september is arugum bay which is inundated with israelis acting as though they own the place and many illegal businesses

@life is suffering: Heavily hated on the sri Lankan subreddit too

    • Lol leave that poor country alone. They also rescue some of those Iranian from the naval attack by US.

Booked twice with Jetstar (to singapore) n in both the instances, the flight was either cancelled or rescheduled. not sure if it happens to most, but i'd think twice before booking with Jetstar again.

    • I've heard that the Melbourne to Singapore route is the most cancelled Jetstar international routes. I think the problem is that whenever one of their 737s is out of operation for mechanical issues, they cancel the Mel-Singapore route and repoint that plane to the other route affected by the mechanical issue.
I think the logic behind that is they can rebook you on a Qantas flight to Singapore, but by the sounds of it, I'm not sure they actually do that.

      • Probably thats the reason. 1st time, they gave me the option to choose the emirates or qantas n no prizes for guessing which one i took.
Next time it was Turkish or qantas or Jetstar (2 days later).
Just the hassle of re-planning everything, last min hotel booking n unwanted tension.

Many countries offer visa free access to Israeli tourists, including Thailand and India.

    Why single out Sri Lanka?

Jetstar already started playing games with the luggage cost. Make sure that you add in at the time of the booking because adding it later will cost double or triple (they don’t publish fixed fees) and adding it at the airport will cost five times more (175$ each way for international)

  • Flight comes to about 900 on the end fare, including meals, seats , etc - not a bad deal. Though agree Jetstar is a bit unrealizable. I am not a fan of people fearmongering - people need to make their own decisions.
