      • do they last as long as the old fridges though? mine is over 15 years old still going.

        • No. If you just replace your fridge to upgrade, not because it failed, the upgrade will probably be in landfill before the original.

        • Mine is 16 years old and also Samsung brand. This one has bigger freezer though.

Bought this for $800 last year.

Was nervous about quality and longevity being a Samsung appliances but so far so good. Highly recommend!

I wish they have better shelves & organisation but it does it job.

Fold up shelves could be better designed.

Removed the ice maker as it took up too much space in the freezer.

    Super efficient and handy control.

    • Does it make much noise? I've got an old fridge in a combined living/kitchen/dining currently and I have to turn the tv up when the fridge is running.

        Very quiet.

There might be a slight variation as I know there's a few versions of this.

I actually got the slightly smaller version to fit in my 700mm (kitchen) gap

        Very quiet otherwise.

Wasn’t there a class action or something due to the inverters failing early on some models?
May be good to check if yours is effected

      • Surprisingly, still going strong. I believe they must've tied up their act due to the class action. Maybe I'm just lucky.

        • "Surprisingly"? … still live out of a 1991 made Whirlpool … & we're conditioned to be surprised when a fridge lasts a year!

      • That was LG. Samsung inverter fridges seem to be super reliable from my understanding. (only speaking of the compressor/inverter side)

        • Ah I see, my bad

Does it keep the fridge section cool as in below 4c? I have a Haier double door and fridge temp is really 5-6 c which is terrible. I have set to it 1c to no avail.

      • That sounds like a warranty issue.

        • I raised it. They replaced it finally with another new unit. Same issue. I am fed up!

      • +1

I keep mine on 1c. It regulate temperature quite well.

I bought an equivalent Samsung 458L bottom mount freezer model back in 2015 and it's still going fine no complaints (fingers crossed).

    • Respectfully after only a year the quality and longevity still remains to be seen, it would be flat out terrible for you to be having issues already. Always avoided Samsung whitegoods as you said, though with OPs wizardry this does look like a good deal for someone.

So how do i get this deal ive signed into my samsung account but it asks for employer email.?

  • Does it work on edu website?

  • Top Ozbargaining!

How do i get onto EPP? Only employees of certain giant corporations?

  • I signed into my samsung account but it asks for employer email. How to proceed?

  • +3

For all those asking. Samsung EPP is the Employee purchase program. You need to have an education email, government email or a corporate email that are registered.

    • Shame they don't add .org.au too. The Not for profit charaties would appreciate a helping hand.

  • No one would pay full price for that in their right mind

  • My fridge space height is 2.5cm shorter than this. :(

  • @Jannx3

Could'nt get the loyalty code through the support chat, they said it doesn't work in EPP stores.

    • Yesterday, I asked in the chat whether there was an additional 10% off if I paid via Samsung Pay. They said that offer only applies to the normal Samsung website, not the EPP. However, they were able to provide me with a 5% code as a loyal customer, as long as I can provide a serial number from a Samsung device.

      • right i'll give it a shot

        cheers

  • Has Samsung fixed its fridge freezer leaking water problem? I bought one in 2018, the freezer kept frozen the defrost drain hole and caused the blockage, I have to open the control panel and manually clear the blockage by using the hair drier and hot water every few months.

I've called the Samsung warranty service once when it's still under warranty, they replaced the panel, then the problem came back again after one year, PITA.

It seems it's very common problem to a Samsung fridge due to a design fault, and it seems it took forever long for Samsung to fix a simple design flaw. I would buy a LG fridge over a Samsung in any future purchase.

  • Thanks op. Bought one.

  • Thanks OP, got one. Can confirm the 5% loyalty code worked in chat, I just had to provide a screenshot of my Samsung mobile serial number.

Chat also sent me a link for a survey to complete after purchase and upon completing survey, I was given a code for $20 discount from normal (not EPP) Samsung store. If anyone wants the code, DM me - I won't use it.

  • Looks like a cool fridge!

  • For those wondering the model number is RB45DG600ES9SA / SRL4600S
