Asus TUF-AX4200 Wi-Fi 6 Gaming Router $149 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Umart

170

I think this is the ATL. A capable router for general home usage, now at a reasonable price, much better than the budget models under $100.

2.0 GHz quad-core processor (faster than older flagships) and a 2.5G Ethernet WAN port. 5GHz only 3×3 though.

Reviews seem pretty good on Amazon and elsewhere, and it is said to have very good wi-fi range.

OpenWRT supported, but not supported by any sort of AsusWrt Merlin.

Surcharges: 0% direct deposit, 0.9% card, 1% fee on all other payments including Google Pay & Apple Pay.

  • Have one and can highly recommend it.

  • This or flint 3?

    • flint 2

      • Absolutely Flint2.

I'm running Wireguard in docker, and AGH on mine, with OpenWRT24 and I've never had a better more reliable router.

  • Good price, but there’s better options than ASUS today.

    • Any recommendations within the same price category? Dont really need WRT stuff

      • Flint 2 when on sale is still the best option at this price point.

Flint 2 has twice the ram, up to 2x the 2.4GHz wifi speed, 2x 2.5g ports. WRT is a bonus. People generally don't upgrade routers often so best to future proof IMO.

The only reason I'd consider the Asus router is if I had a tight budget and wanted to link it to an older Asus router with AiMesh.

        • Yeah I need a two router mesh, with my existing Asus. Once that one dies I might try Flint and mesh to this router with OpenWRT.

  • Got the same router. Generally great performance. Don't really love the software not sure if it's an Asus thing bet changing some general settings like Port forwarding would reboot the router everytime which was annoying.

  • Extra $10 for $159 delivered gets you an ASUS AX5400 gaming router from Amazon AU the RT-AX82U model. Better in my opinion. The RRP was $399. If you get two of those routers then you get to start using a mesh router system through the ASUS AiMesh feature.

    • Why do you think it's better?

      • bigger number I suppose
