There's no way any julius marlow shoe is worth more than $59 retail, complete junk.

    • +3

      Agree $199 RRP is laughable

But I've been buying them everytime they drop to this price, $59 is an great price imho. Usually get around 2 years out of them, almost daily use for work.

Unless you know of better 'leather' dress shoes that work out to $30-50 a year with minimal maintenance?

      • +2

2 years I could only get if I WFH. If daily wear in office job its just months. And $60 is possible to find in retail. But I would rather buy Temu shoes.

      • $50/year will cover most welted footwear including maintenance, plus they'll be more comfortable.

        • +1

You can't exclude the up front cost

          • +1

@cheaptech20: I haven't. Can get welted footwear from a few hundred dollars north, and you should get 5 years per set of soles.

            • +1

              @japes: Absolutely.

Probably double it with a topy if a leather sole.

Charles Tyrwhitt $249 GYW manufactured by reputable English shoemakers.

Nice quality leather that will patina and shape nicely. You can resole, re heel and get many many years out of them and they won't look like absolute shit.

Two pairs $500 less on sale. Get a black and a dark chocolate brown.

@TheFyrd: Where does it say they are made by reputable English shoe makers?

                Or even just English?

                • @serpserpserp: Last I checked Loake are the OEMs form CT but that was some years ago.

From the CT website "Our shoemaking heritage. We work with shoemakers in Northamptonshire to create the finest English leather shoes."

Loake or Cheaney? I'm not sure if there are any other sizeable shoes makers in Northhamptonshire who would be able to manufacture at scale and cost, the others are significantly more expensive.

On a re-read even if they partner with a Northhamptonshire shoemaker it's probable it's still manufactured overseas in India etc… Work with vs use or are made by… I think you caught me in a lie :D

Yeah you can find them below $30 everyday. I just got one for $8. This is way too overpriced

      • +1

Where can they be found below $30 everyday?

        • Mostly at Amazon

    • -1

In general, but you don't get much for $59 these days so it's not a bad deal.
Otherwise spend a lot more and have them forever (re-sole good-year welted shoes etc).

Pretty relaxed these days as most twats wfh

Had one maybe different style same brand, it was so slipery when walking on office carpet.

Raawr! Give me more bargains with my shoe size!

        • +2

We are always the downtrodden when it comes to sales lol 😂

    • Would have been too small anyway. I bought size 14 (im a 13.5) and its a tiny bit tight.

NB I share your pain though very rarely do bigger sizes go on sale (with availabilty)

  • Does used - good $50.42 mean it’s just been opened? Thanks.

    • +2

      most likely a returned item

I had a decade ago, not a good one and doesn't last long. I would prefer Florsheim.

Julius Marlow run extremely tight across the forefoot. Do not buy these unless you have extremely small skinny feet. No matter what size I went up I could not find a size comfortable across the foot. Felt like my feet were being shoved in a tiny box very much akin to those Russian ballet shoes.

    • on the other hand, once you confirm Julius Marlow shoes fit your foot, you can be confident ordering it online. My last order was "pre-COVID lockdown" and the sole just started coming off, so, this is perfect timing.

      • I would be interested to know your comparison between the pre covid pair vs the present day pair

        • I'll find out soon as I've ordered two pairs from this special.

        • I've received them today. Quality is about as good as the ones from Pre-COVID days. They look FANTASTIC and the fit is great - like any other Julius Marlow, they fit perfectly in my size.

  • +3

Fake leather that starts to flake and crack after a year or two even with minimal usage

  • +1

Wore these once (sat unused in their box under my bed for a year). Very first night of use the sole came off both one shoe, then the second when i was taking them off. Also found them slippery

  • It maybe 'Oxfords not Brogues', but its definitely not Buckles for a dress shoe.

  • I prefer the Julius Marlow Men's Knock Dress Shoe - $10 more in my size 8 but nicer brown colour and no buckle

  • +1

How too look like a cu

    Julius Craplow

  • Does anyone know where I can get a pair of boots similar to these? https://www.grailed.com/listings/95127803-celine-western-per…

  • +1

had an old pair for like 4 years or something, wore everywhere. heel has been completely obliterated due to daily wear. yes they are slippery in wet but good for this price.

  • Bought a used Julius Marlow chelsea boot years ago and the fake synthetic 'leather' started peeling quick. Comfort was nothing to write home about as they felt like your run-of-the-mill Chinese sweat-shop shoe. Would never go back to buying one new until they improve drastically.

  • +1

I had these and everyone at work started calling me buckles

  • Such a shame as they used to be a good shoe brand about 20+ years ago.

    • So did Aquila, no doubt they are asking a lot for glued shoes these days.
