Would have been nice if Roybi had similar offers

    • +2

A little janky but can get Ozito to Ryobi battery adapters

Otherwise there isn’t much motivation for Bunnings to drop the price.

    • +2

Ryobi is useless when you have Ozito here in Australia. i would say ryobi is the ozito of america.

      • I prefer Ozito colour and Ozito keep throwing at us 3pk $99 batteries.

  • +1

Has anyone noticed that Bunners don't have any more sales for Ozito as much….

    • +2

At this rate only when Aldi does tool offerings pretty much

      • +2

Yeah, it protrudes too much with an adaptor

  • +2

How come Makita wants $170+ for a single 18v battery but you can get three ozito for a $100?
Is the difference worth the astronomical price difference?
You can get ozito to makita battery converters for about $25 on Amazon which seem to work great from my experience.

    • +1

cause they can or maybe some other brands have better quality testing and quality control?

    • +4

Makita is for pro use. like daily tools to make a living. It would have different tolerances and QC.

      • +5

I'd be surprised if the li-ion cells in makita are much better than the cells in ozito.

Main difference is almost certainly bunnings aren't profiteering off ozito batteries (currently) to penetrate the market, whereas the big brands make enormous margins on the batteries.

Seriously, 5ah of 18650 cells wholesales in the $40 ballpark (maybe less for these big brands), yet people pay $150 -$200 for them.

      • -6

OH yeah … NOT, the stuff is mediocre & some of it utter rubbish, the batteries brick from a chip on the battery controller designed to do just that! any tradesman of any self worth would NOT use the brand & I'd be like "GET AWAY" if one turned up with the stuff!

    • +7

      Because they can.

I use makita tools in my workshop… but of all the Ozito gear I have at home I would say it’s definitely decent. My favourite has to be the brushless recip saw so far, and the 399 brushless 2 x 18v mower

Has anybody tested the real capacity of these?

I'm getting about 2.5 Ah before they cut off.
Rating at 0.1C would be very dishonest for power tool batteries.

    • How do u test it? It should be 4Ah each otherwise it is faulty

      • I had a power meter in series. Adapter to xt60 connector.
It may be the cells are rated for 2Ah to 2.5V @ 0.1C, (5S2P) but the cutoff voltage in the BMS is higher.

    • You get what you pay for.
What was the discharge current it's tested at and what's the cut off voltage?

I hope you are not using some 1 meter long 24awg wires.

      • -1

I hope you are not sniffing glue.

        • I'm curious what sort load (current) you are testing the battery at and hopefully you are not using some thin and long wires. No glues was harmed here.

Your test result with lack of details is the exact mirror of how 100,000mAh USB XtremePowwwarbank rate their battery capacity

          • @skillet: Your 24AWG has around 82 mΩ/m from my table.
That would cope with 4A in a test situation without melting. So 1C , meaning enough to drain the battery in 1hr at its nominal charge capacity.

What aspect of that has you worried? In order to test a battery, you need a hell of a lot more load resistance than 82 mΩ . Like 5Ω for 4A. You could use 60 metres of awg24, I suppose :-)

Li-ion cells are generally rated at 0.1C, and a very low cutoff voltage.
So you'd drain a 2Ah cell at 200mA until it reaches say 2.5V.

But once assembled into a powertool battery, with a BMS, the situation is very different.

            100,000mAh USB

Beware anyone who uses units like "thousands of millis". They are either very stupid, or trying to impress people who they think don't understand.
Would you measure your cars engine power in kilo-watts or milli-watts?

My batteries are 2.5 years old, and I have noticed they are not as powerful as before when being used in the lawn mower.
Is this normal should I buy new batteries?
    TIA

    • Not as powerful or do not last as long? The latter is part of batteries

      • Both …but power is my main concern
If I charge and immediately use it ..then it is manageable but if I use it after a weak it's very weak

        • Yes i am seeing the same in the dual chainsaw. I think they are nearing end of life.

    • +1

yea, they aren't the highest quality cells like a makita battery, but you also pay a lot less.

    • +1

yeah Li-ion batteries are consumables…. This is what concerns me about lots of cars using them. It seems though when water cooled, they will last longer. Your tool batts are probably being kept in garage in extreme temps.. Expect them to degrade much much faster.

    • You should try sharpen the mower blade first..

  • Is Ozito better or Ryobi in general for gardening and power tools?

    • +2

same level i would say, but would go with ozito here in australia. will have many more deals and easy warranty directly in bunnings.

  • +8

    Can't have enough of these!

Aside from the ozito power tools and tyre pump, these batteries get a lot of use around my house - with the right adapters these power a dyson stick vaccuum and also serve as a decent power bank when I need one. Great value and versatility

If i understand correctly, you can also stack 2.25% cashback gift cards from shopback, if you buy the Shopback Home gift card and swap it to bunnings.

  • Goated batteries

  • hmmm that or the 2x4ah "compact" / higher power density batteries for $89 https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-4-0ah-compact-batt…

I like the 4ah capacity of the big cheap ones but they are also quite bulky especially on a smaller tool like the LED flashlights and smaller drills

i also really wish they had a proper USB-C PD USB adaptor - the standard USB adaptor does bugger all charging a phone.

I guess you could use the Ryobi one with an adaptor….

    • Unless you are in a hurry, I think semi solid state is entering the chat soon….. then solid state….

Ozito have just released a new 150W pure sine wave inverter with a USB-C PD 60W output.

No stock available yet, but it is showing up on Bunnings website so should only be a week or so til it is in stock.

      • +1

Showing stock in Toowoomba QLD, thanks!

  • Nice idea!

If you were lazy, you'd just use an old slow ozito charger connector and cut off wires and attach directly to usb controller…. ;)

    Like this one…
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-home-12v-fast-charger_p001…

I seem to have heaps of these ones lying around from various kits…

  • Does it come with a fast charger too, or just 3 batteries?
