It’s not a “pay in cash and get $x off” scheme…
It’s Costco’s reward system where every dollar spent automatically accrues a percentage of “reward dollars” which you can use to deduct off a future bill (I think there are minimum number of cash dollars that can be spent for a transaction - ie you can’t just deduct $2 off your bill, there’s thresholds etc)

I’m just saying, if OP used a rewards credit card, they’d get both Costco Executive rewards and credit card points.
