[PC, Mac, Steam] Cyberpunk 2077 $31.48, Ultimate Edition $55.83 @ Steam

910

Cyberpunk is back on sale again. One of the best games in recent times in my opinion.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure RPG set in the dark future of Night City — a dangerous megalopolis obsessed with power, glamor, and ceaseless body modification.

Wow, they're still trying to charge $90 base game on a 6 year old game? That's crazy.

    • +8

It’s more or less standard to keep the game the same price as launch and just offer steeper discounts over time

      • +2

i don't think the discounts have gotten better though? doesn't seem to have moved in about 2 years.

        • Later half of 2024 it was $45, then it went to $40, then $36, then $32 which is were it's been for 10 months.

obviously haven't seen nintendo games :D they ahve been charging the same price for 10 years lol.

      Gonk take.

Yep, waiting for $20 for the ultimate or will just pirate it. It’s not very good anyway honestly.

Similar price at GOG for those who prefer the DRM-free version

    • +6

It is also less then half the price in Ukraine, for anyone planning a trip..

      • assume this is Steam via Ukraine? how does one plan a trip?

        • GOG via Ukraine.

I wouldn't go to Ukraine right now, probably safer to use a VPN.

Good shout, but would recommend just getting the Steam version for anyone considering playing on a Steam Deck.

Never played it but always been interested. Is it worth getting the ultimate edition for a casual gamer?

    • Wondering this as well, what are the upgrade options if you just get the base game and want to upgrade later?

      • Includes the expansion - Phantom Liberty which adds a new area of the game and a new storyline.
Is it worth getting? Well it depends if you like the game… I'm pretty close to finishing the main storyline now and Phantom Liberty expansion was worth it for me.
From what I understand it's meant to be played in parralel with the main story, not after you've finished.

Ideally you want to start the expansion like 2/3 into the base game as it fits into and affects the main game's storyline, so it's not like you play all of the base game then go get the expansion. There's also the matter of having to wait for the expansion to be discounted - irritating if it stops you playing the game because you don't want to finish without it.

I'd say just pony up. It's great.

Attempt to buy Ultimate Edition, I heard Phantom Liberty has better story line than the base game.
The key question is whether I have time to play games.

      I’d actually say maybe not.

Absolutely love the game and the expansion, easily top 5 of all time for me - the immersion of the characters with the VA and animation is incredible.

Most people absolutely rate the expansion as better than the main game but I found it a bit claustrophobic. As mentioned below it is meant to be played parallel but I played it after the main game so ymmv.

Big reason I’d say maybe not is (provided it’s on sale again) you can pick up the expansion separately for only a little more than the bundle (currently $4.86), and if you might either not like the base game or as a casual gamer, not really feel the need for more, I’d start small.

    • The DLC adds things that the main game should've already had IMO, definitely worth playing with, casualness is not a factor. Just know, completing the main game, then starting the DLC will be a different experience than having the DLC already there if you're an immersive type.

FYI this runs on Apple Silicon Macs, and on newer ones it's totally playable

  • Great timing!
Gave this a crack lastnight on Xbox Cloud, the upscaled 1440p at 30fps or 1080 60fps and no control of textures just could not do justice

i tried it on ps5 and my biggest issue are the controls. i just dont like first person shooters on console. i can't aim!

      gonna purchase for PC

  • Partly tempted to get this on Steam just for all of the achievements etc and do some more playthroughs… have clocked 150hrs on Xbox version and 150hrs on GoG version, so it's generally cost 40c/hr of gameplay so far - well worth it I think

    Super fun game

I'm glad this game got the No Man's Sky treatment and it was patched into a playable state. Great game.
However - nothing will ever scrub from my retinas the image of my wife's character riding a motorbike and her clothes completely glitching off. The default rear-camera angle was a sight to behold

Not sure what the appeal of this game is - really tried getting into it many times, but it's just not clicking.

It just felt like a chore/ checklist/ cheap movie/ trying too be too cool/ trying too many things but mastering none…..there was very little 'game' in all of this opulence of a world.
The last thing I want to spend my free time is to waste a lot of time…..
