[Pre Order] Jaecoo J5 Petrol: MY26 Track from $25,990, MY26 Summit from $29,990 Driveaway @ Omoda Jaecoo

1100

From Carsauce

Under the bonnet of the petrol variants sits a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

It produces 108kW of power and 210Nm of torque.

Drive is sent exclusively to the front wheels via a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

Official combined fuel consumption is rated at 7.5L/100km.

Before anyone says the J5 EV is a better car, I agree, but it also is >$10,000 pricier, that's a lot of petrol.

$25,990 is the DAP for the MY26 Track model with no metallic paint or optional extras. $29,990 is the DAP for the MY26 Summit model with no metallic paint or optional extras. Please speak with your authorised Jaecoo Dealer when ordering your vehicle to confirm the final driveaway price for your desired vehicle specification.

  • Price of petrol has really gone up…

    • And likely to keep going up until the Empire formerly known as USA fecks off from the Middle East.

        • I can dream of Iran AND the USA becoming democracies again bro

          • @Jack D Price: The USA isn't a democracy?

it never has been, its a democratic republic.

          • @Jack D Price: You use bot-farm for upvoting your own comments? Either that or 45 ignorant tools have upvoted your nothing-comment suggesting Iran was a democracy.

            • @cerealJay: Key Democratic Periods

The Constitutional Revolution (1905–1911): This was Iran's first major experience with democratisation, leading to the establishment of the first Majlis (parliament) and a constitution. However, this fledgling democracy was severely hampered by internal differences and colonial interests from Russia and England, eventually leading to the dissolution of the second Majlis under threat of foreign occupation.
The Interlude of Democracy (1941–1953): Often cited as the most significant democratic era, this period saw a shift from the absolute power of the Shah toward a more parliamentary system.
Mohammad Mosaddegh: In 1951, Mosaddegh, a nationalist and pro-democracy leader, became Prime Minister. He is most famous for nationalising the Iranian oil industry, which had been under British control.
The 1953 Coup: In August 1953, the US CIA and British intelligence orchestrated a coup (Operation Ajax) to overthrow Mosaddegh's democratically elected government. This action reinstalled the Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, as an absolute monarch, effectively ending this democratic experiment.

Simple enough stuff to look up bro without embarrassing yourself.

            • @cerealJay: They're someone who treats this site like Reddit to engage in mindless political arguments. Member for 17 years and only 1 deal post says a lot…

        • yeah, Iran totally invaded Iraq, Libya, and most recently Venezuela , and soon will take over Greenland - glad they are being stopped now by a blockade on a blockade

            • @Becoming Uncanny: your confusing Persians with Arabs - thats about right with level of MAGA IQ out there

            • @Becoming Uncanny: Yep. They also don't remove the uteri of young women who protest against their government. But hey, that's all cool on the World of left-wing delusion.

            • @Becoming Uncanny:

America also doesn't behead people in the street, I know which one I would be on the side of.

US supported and funded the current terrorist government in Syria with its leader literally holding 2 severed heads he chopped off in a photoshoot smiling, you ignorant hypocrite.

Low IQ brain washed One Nation simp that's funded by a billionaire gluttonous old hag who pretends to care about plebs just like King Donald is becoming a thing in AUS.

              • @Creamsoda: That was during Obama's presidency and no I follow no political party in Australia nor in the US. Don't have to jump to conclusions over stating a fact lol

              • @Creamsoda: You should look in the mirror. You are the exact political polar opposite wacko simp you are whinging about. People like you, more interested in sides and tribes, in signalling and slander, than dealing with subjects as they are irrespective of political affiliation. You perpetuate extremes and ignorance.

                • @Xizor:

You should look in the mirror. You are the exact political polar opposite wacko simp you are whinging about.

Calling his hypocrisy and BS out is wacko simp? The US openly supports and funds terrorist organisations if it serves them like Al-Qaeda, the head chopping terrorist organisation he him self so despise and this some how represents the moral high ground over Iran? when i bought up this point he mentions Obama like he doesn't represents the US government?? who's the extreme ignorant wacko simp? you or him?

One Nation is been opening supported and funded by Gina Rinehart who was invited and flew directly to Washington for the inauguration of Trump. This is not some "wacko" conspiracy theory.

              • @Creamsoda: Who is the billionaire who funds One Nation?

            • @Becoming Uncanny: You are right, America doesn’t behead people in the street.

They shoot them in the street -e.g. Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

              • @altomic: Pretti Good they decided to play silly games & won silly prizes.

          • @botchie: don't bother with numb nuts like him … they've been slurping up that mainstream news for too long or is an Israeli

          • @botchie: When did they invade Venezuela, Libya and when does the take over of Greenland kick off? What liberal news are feeding you that bile?
By the way Iran 100% invaded Iran during their 8 year war. Facts aren’t your strong point….

        • I want the times where they had international nuclear inspections AND cheap fuel

          • @Autonomic: The Iraq inspections brought on the WMD lies, unfortunately

          • @Autonomic: Really?? I want a competent Australian Government where we don’t need to rely on anyone else, oh hang on, I was dreaming.

            • @BatmanAU: Which countries don't rely on anyone else?

              • @Autonomic: Probably none… Although Australian Green zealots think that if we go 100% renewable we're self sufficient, and only have to rely on the sun and wind.

              • @Autonomic: I said I was dreaming, did you miss that part?? ??? ?????

Plus, we could in theory, become a lot more self sufficient than we have been under these useless Governments, especially Labor

        • Lay off the fox news mate…

      • Or you mean Iran stops wanting nuclear

        • Hopefully, Australia starts charging at least 25% on gas exports, and bloody tax the rich instead of making middle class suffer.

          • @AnirudhD: The rich already pay the overwhelming majority of income tax, GST, property taxes, you name it. The problem is what's done with the money… If the government takes more they waste more. The only thing that'll save the middleclass is productivity, which our government has replaced with high immigration, so sorry. The wealth divide is here and if you're on the wrong side of it, you're pretty well cooked.

Should we tax our exports properly? Absolutely.

      • It's literally coming back down as we speak and has been for the past couple of days…

      • You mean J-merica? We all know who owns and runs J-merica. J-stralia isn't much better neither from the shadows but shhhhhh!

Distractions, distractions, constant bread and games distractions for primitive masses, shhhh! Keep them constantly occupied! ❤️

        • Bread and circuses

          • @Becoming Uncanny: For a reason the Roman Colosseum was built and operated … entertainment! …

      • Any popcorn deal?

    • isn't it like stupid to pay for a petrol or diesel car now? like if you are rich then go nuts lots of people own high performance cars and just don't care how much fuel costs.

      • The depreciation costs when it comes time to sell are going to be killer

        • So take advantage of that and buy a second hand EV.

        • I don't know man Teslas hold there value very well in this country.

          • @kungfuman: I mean on this petrol car. Yes, it might be cheaper initially to buy a petrol car, but when it comes time to sell in 5 years, who is going to want a petrol car?
So you might save 5-10K now, but then you sell for 5-10K less. But in that time you've also spent a ton on petrol

            • @outlander: People were saying that 5 years ago.

              • @bawdygeorge: You know full well COVID distorts that data. Are you planning for another once-in-a-hundred-year pandemic?

            • @outlander: But why would you sell then?

          • @kungfuman: Just wait another 40 or 50 years and resell value will crash into noothing … just like Australian housing prices …

            • @LFO: the funny thing is that we are a 28 milliion population we have a massive amount of land in the middle of the country (unused) but yet they only want to built round the cities and not expand out. House prices should be cheap as chips in this country based on population and LAND MASS. we aren't a tiny country, and it pisses me off that developers are just profiting with out any action being taken to lower housing prices. WTF…..

              • @kungfuman:

but yet they only want to built round the cities and not expand out.

Because people want to live where they can get a job, schools, transport and services. It's not an easy problem to fix. Would be great if we had a few more main cities but that's not happening any time soon.

and it pisses me off that developers are just profiting with out any action being taken to lower housing prices.

Investors have been the ones making bank on property, not so much developers. Any attempt to make changes that could cut off that will make a government unpopular with a fair chunk of the voters (especially olders ones) and have a scare campaign run against them.

    • Wow, can't believe Australian's get so angry and aggressive when anyone says anything against Iran. Am I missing something?

      • Of course you are missing something.. “Common Sense”.. people don’t care about Iran or Venezuela.. people are angry because it take half of their weekly salary to fill up diesel.. All US and Israel doing is wrong in every single way you look at it.. it was fine until it directly affected us.. this needs an end.. when you see the voting in UN Security Council 95% of world in one side and you know who is on the other side.. US is trying to save Iranian by killing school children and threatening of complete annihilation

        • Deranged far left babble.

Iran-backed terror has caused so much suffering and violence in the world over decades. But the commie lefties are happy to let the Islamic Regime stockpile missiles and obtain nukes if it means cheaper petrol lol, how can these commies be that dumb.

          • @cerealJay: What US and its allies has done.. they have started literally all the wars in recent times, killed millions without justification.. if iran can build missiles and nuke by themselves, they should build it.. then US can’t bomb them whenever they want.. i can see your hatred in particular race and religion.. people full of hate without logic is the problem of everything..

          • @cerealJay:

            Deranged far left babble.

            Indeed yours is.

    • It's 189.9 at the moment, which is the same price it was a few years ago.

  • Really not sure what the point of this is over the substantially cheaper Tiggo 4, which is on the same platform.

    • Night and day difference. The interior is a whole generation better in every single way if it has the same interior as the J5 EV version. And I think the exterior looks far better than the dated Tiggo4. Makes the Tiggo 4 look suitably like a 2010s era car. Not to mention, the backrow space for passengers is noticeably roomier in the J5. The headroom is deceptively spacious whereas the Tiggo4 feels cramped.

      • Better off getting the EV version

        • I actually have one preordered. Managed to get it for 34.5K from Motorscout.

          • @SeanConnery: Awesome mate. I have a new Kona EV.
Love it so much it's the main car… But wife is upset because we can't fit enough in.

So looking to replace Mazda 6 wagon, with a mid size EV shortly. Either MG S6 or Zeeker 7x. After a big boot to match the Mazda wagon.

            • @hothed: I would take a gamble on the MGS6 if you can score a decent deal once it releases. Its a magnificent looking car. If I had a bigger budget, I would have no regrets getting a 7X though that car does get unwanted attention in my area from would-be thieves unfortunately. If you can wait, the new Nissan N8 EV looks amazing and so incredibly spacious.

          • @SeanConnery: 34,500 drive away? If so that's a great price for the EV version.

      • And I think the exterior looks far better than the dated Tiggo4.

        It's a Range Rover wanna-be.

        • There is a reason for that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chery_Jaguar_Land_Rover

Chery makes Land Rover and Range Rover models for china.

          • @Duff5000: But it doesn't make it right to steal other brand's design.

One can argue that all cars have 4 wheels, but Jaecoo's side and rear have a distinctive Range Rover look. They have to put that imposing grille at the front to differentiate.

            • @browser:

But it doesn't make it right to steal other brand's design.

personally if it doesn't infringe on any trademarks or similar i don't care. Everything has looks of something else these days.

        • Aldi Range Rover

      • Maybe it's because the Tiggo 4 is essentially an 8-year-old model that Chery has forgotten to stop building?

The car first launched in 2017, and while it has received three facelifts (in 2019, 2020, and 2024), the underlying platform and core design remain largely unchanged throughout the years.

  • According to my calculations, $10,000 @ $2.2 per litre gets you, with average fuel economy of 9.0l\100km ~50,000kms

    • If you can afford it I think it's definitely worth getting the EV version. Less wear and tear on the motor therefore likely to last a lot longer….

Got the J5 Ev for $330/fn with a 5 year novated lease. The wait times are over 2 months from what I've read though.

      • What about the wear and tear on the battery?

        • A lot of studies have shown that battery life expectancy have been greatly underestimated. Batteries have been mass produced for ~15 years now, and the results are very promising.

            • @botchie: Can you give an example of what you're talking about?

              • @Autonomic: buy a tesla x and find out, not sure i can share links but plenty of examples - repairs worth more then trade in…etc etc - and people paid $150k for these 2018 - so not that old

                • @botchie: Just googled Model X pricing. No one in their right mind (or on Ozbargain) should be paying $50k for an 8-year-old used EV with sub 350km range.

Comparing that to sub $40k brand new EVs with 7+ year warranties isn't realistic.

                  • @Autonomic: its an example and you asked for it

                    • @botchie: I guess if this is the best counterpoint you have, it kind of seems like there's not much to worry about? I'm actively seeking out reasons as to why not get an EV in 2026 so if you have a better argument I'd love to hear it.

                      • @Autonomic: i never said not to get it, if anything it makes sense to get it but it comes with it own issues that people seems to brush off.
you can see that each year they are more and more cheaper , Im personally waiting for around $30k price point, theres no way they are worth more, they should be half the price of an ICE car

            • @botchie:

you buy second hand EV - say 7 years old you are one break down from losing all your money on it.

You would be in luck because most have 8 year warranty on the battery.

Did it occur to you that the same applies with out of warranty ICE vehicles? Engine and or gearbox for an ICE can easily make a car not worth fixing out of warranty. Also considerably more likely to fail.

You can also fairly easily see the battery health on most EVs before purcahse. 2nd hand you mostly know what you are getting. My sons girlfriend who had her 2nd hand ICE blow an engine after less than 6 months unfortunately could not.

              • @Duff5000: tell me what ICE car lost so much to depreciation as tesla x

                • @botchie: Way to completely change change the topic. You were asserting some BS about batteries and ice somehow being magically free of failures out of warranty. Did you forget already?

tell me what ICE car lost so much to depreciation as tesla x

Nice work cherry picking a discontinued car from a brand that many people dont want to buy. Lots of 'premium' or 'luxury' brands have absolutely devastating depreciation. That is not news and its absolutely not relevant to anything anyone was talking about.
If you must have an example for some stupid reason cars like the Maserati Ghibli have depreciated probably even worse than the X.

Wow, how insightful. 150k cars have bad depreciation. Thanks for the lesson captain obvious.

                  • @Duff5000: how is it changing a topic? you buy 7-8 y old tesla x for $40k and it breaks down you lost probably all your cash
you buy a 8 year old tesla 3 - in that time it will be worth what - 10k? same deal, breaks down you will lose all you cash.
evs are electric cars, not sure why so many of you lose it over it - would you buy second hand electronics?
same thing, not made to last , my current Tiguan is 10 y old, i can still sell it for more then 50% of what I paid for it original ….

          • @Jack D Price: Studies funded by battery manufacturers haha

            • @dwbr: There's plenty of 500k+ KM Teslas that have still got 70%+ battery capacity.

        • Someone please make an eneloop adapter for EVs already!

        • And the cables & wires which cost a guy in us (US $12K) just to get all of it replaced. He only spilled some water accidentally and it wasn't covered by insurance.

          • @Gemka2K18:

And the cables & wires which cost a guy in us (US $12K) just to get all of it replaced.

You dont think that happen with ICE's as well? They have wires as well you know. Plenty of people have accidentally ruined their engine also not covered by warranty and thats usually more than 12k.

            • @Duff5000: Just cables & wiring alone US $12K not the battery or engine.

              • @Gemka2K18: ???

Just cables & wiring alone US $12K not the battery or engine.

And again… .You dont think that happens with ICE's as well? They have wires as well you know.

                • @Duff5000: But US $12K worth? i don't think so all these cables/wires hook up the EV battery to the car, i've never encountered a US $12K bill in any ICE car in my whole life.
ICE cars don't have an EV battery so you'll never encounter a bill like this.
