Travel Insurance Recommendation for around The World Trip

Hi All,

Going for an around the world trip in May. Looking to buy travel insurance primarily to cover any unexpected medical expense on the trip.
Zoom travel insurance seems a bit cheaper than the others, is it too good to be true?
Since it is going to be a big long trip, would prefer an insurance that has good service and fast response if anything does happen. Any recommendations?

Thanks

Worth checking to see if you have cover under a credit card. Also don't chase the cheapest quote but ones with good service and reviews as it makes a world of difference when you are in a pickle overseas. RACV was excellent and paid out quickly, Covermore was also a hassle free experience.

If you want low-cost, consider medical-only; e.g SCTI

    • 100% recommend SCTI, they are very responsive. I would pay more to get comprehensive coverage as well as $0 excess for claims in case of cancellations, loss of items etc. Lots could go wrong on a big long trip so you're better off having good insurance and peace of mind.

Shopback currently has 20% cashback on their policies until the 26th of April and it tracks quickly.

  • I have an annual policy with Chubb. I think they are good and a well known and respectable insurer. An annual policy might be cheaper and it would of course cover any travel for a year but I know there is a limit on the duration of trips so you would need to check if this fitted in with your needs. Mine is a worldwide policy and excludes only Cuba

  • Daughter just left for 6 months travelling o/s. Woolworths worked out the cheapest for her.
