Thanks OP. Was looking for one for my son’s PS5 🙂
    Bought one. Thanks

  • Can this be put in an enclosure to use via a USB?

    • +4

It might not fit with the heatsink attached, although that can be removed. Might be cheaper to buy without heatsink if you don't need it.

    • +3

Yes, see here for pictures, https://nascompares.com/2022/02/11/corsair-mp600-pro-lpx-ssd… , on removing the heatsink

You can remove the heatsink, but then you will need to clean the thermal compound. Or alternatively if your enclosure allows, just don't put the top plate on and leave the preinstalled heatsink on.

    • +1

      Yes but, don't..

Waste of potential performance, unless you are gonna splurge out for thunderbolt 4 /USB 4 enclosure, and ports (if desktop), and even then you're still leaving performance on the table.

      • Thanks, yeah I figured a slower SSD would be plenty for my portable storage use case, something like this

        • +1

That is even more expensive… For 10gbps limit..

Depends on your portable storage use case, but all these seems overkill for that use imo. I've been down the road before and was rather disappointed in the performance. Hard to avoid the bottleneck somewhere, plus, even at 10gbps, the drives get hot. I can't imagine 40gbps.

  • recent reviews are not great for reliability

    • firmeware side like samsung or?

      • Not sure. You can read the Amazon reviews yourself and check (sort by newest from Australia)

        • not seeing any neg reviews on my end. Send a imgur of the ones you saw.

    • +3

Plenty of positive reviews as well, with a few negative ones. Might be faulty ones received by those who complaint about heating issue. Nevertheless Amazon warranty is pretty good in case anything goes wrong within the warranty period.

      • +3

TBH if I'm buying a SSD like this (with DRAM), there's a high chance I'm using it as my OS drive. Warranty is a relatively small consolidation for failure - it doesn't cover data loss and inconvenience.

        • +1

          Fair enough 👍🏻

  • 1 March 2026

    "Stop working within a year.

Upon inspection the termal paste was not evenly spread and one o the chips overheated."

    8th Feb 2026

    "drive failed after 4 months"

    • fair enough. Amazons blocking me from seeing neg reviews lol https://imgur.com/a/lPn7NlL

    • +3

Chips don't tend to overheat and die, it would thermal throttle long before that'd happen. Most ssds don't require a heatsink either for the vast majority of use cases.

  • maybe a better deal for the Elite $275.00 - https://www.amazon.com.au/CORSAIR-MP600-ELITE-PCIe-Gen4/dp/B…

    • +5

Worth mentioning the Elite is DRAM-less. The Pro series has DRAM.

    • +1

If you want DRAM (I won't open that can of worms) the Pro is better. Also uses micron v toshiba NAND.

      • +1

Good point, Endurance: Pro = 6,000TBW vs Elite =1,200TBW

        • Where the heck did you get 6k for the pro?

          it's 700 for 1TB and 1400 2TB

Which is still more than the Elite's 1200 for 2tb

  • Any idea if this would fit into a LOQ 15AHP9 ?

I have been looking to add a 2nd ssd for a while, but apparently, they only fit M2's with single sided chips or something along those lines?

I'm guessing having a heat sink on it might be a problem?

    Cheers!

    • +1

If they only fit single sided likely not this, these are chunky with the heat sink

      • +2

Yeah that heatsink is monstrous compared to regular ones.

  • this or Samsung 990 pro 2TB if there are only $40 difference?

    • +1

      Samsung might be more reliable.

    • where have you found a 990 pro for that price?

      • got it in Feb at $310.51 from Amazon, was thinking it is too expensive for my build and seeking a cheaper alternative. it seems no other cost-effective option though.

        • Great deal for this market. Samsung and the SN850X are pretty much the best you can get. Just make sure your firmware is up to date as a few people have had failures

  • Great deal, sold a secondhand samsung one for $290 recently

  • Good deal for this product I will be getting one. My Fanxiang 2TB S770 died last week, it was only 2.5 years old and had 10TB of writes. It's rated for 700TB of writes and has a 5 year warranty.

They will refund under warranty but not replace due to me paying $150 2.5 years ago and it being worth $370 these days.

Fanxiang is going on my no buy list, I have numerous nvme and SSD drives from other manufacturers some 10 years old still going strong.

    • This is good to know. I was debating getting this but will pass now

  • biwin NV7400 for 239 might be also good choice . I know dram less but still TLC

  • Thanks OP!!!

  • How about without heatsink MP700 Elite 1tb https://amzn.asia/d/0gWxe243

    • FYI Elite version doesn't have dram cache

    • That seems to be PCI 5.0 based on speeds

DRAM cache isn’t majorly relevant imo, the ones with DRAM the quoted speeds is the DRAM cache not the actual storage. Without, it’s the bypass write cache speeds. The IOPS specs can at times be a little higher with DRAM though.

It’s not a big issue with the big brands, but for cheap brands DRAM cached is usually actually worse - the actual storage is much slower and after the cache is filled write speeds dip.

  • +1

For those who missed the deal, white version is still available for $307 for same pro version and 2TB

  • Got mine today. Removed the heatsink pretty easily.

  • I just bought one of the black at $290. Might be 1 left in stock.

    Edit: All gone again.
