Xiaomi Mijia Robot Vacuum 5 Pro station/dock issue

Hi all, hoping to get some advice 🙏

I bought a Xiaomi Mijia Robot Vacuum 5 Pro (China version) and am using it in Australia. The robot itself works (can clean and charge manually), but I’m having major issues with the dock/station and system:

  • Firmware downloads to 100% but always fails during installation
  • Robot cannot properly dock (keeps aligning but won’t go in)
  • All dock functions don’t work at all (auto-empty, mop washing, water refill)
  • These functions also don’t respond in the Mi Home app

I’ve already tried:

  • Resetting and re-adding device
  • Different WiFi / hotspot
  • Reinstalling app
  • Multiple firmware attempts but no success
  • Open area testing

No change so far.

Just wondering if anyone has:

  • successfully used a China-version Xiaomi robot overseas
  • seen firmware install fail at 100% like this
  • any workaround or fix (even advanced ones)

  • Not sure about the firmware, but for the docking issue, try rubbing some isopropyl alcohol on the metal contacts at the bottom of the robot vacuum. It should help it dock properly.

  • ok, having used older xiaomi vacuums.

    1. you need to make sure your account location is set for chinese mainland.
    2. You then need to logout/in then re-set and re-pair the device.
    3. firmware updates are a bit sketchy, they never work in the afternoon.
    4. I've found my dns on the phone was a bit iffy, so maybe try a different one.
    5. I cant speak for xiaomi, but other devices get upset when 2.4g and 5ghz wifi networks share the same wireless name.

    Summary of the issue:
    - The dock has power (white indicator light is on), and the robot can charge when placed manually
    - However, the dock produces no sound or activity at all under any condition (no auto dust collection, no mop washing/drying, no water refill)
    - Commands triggered in the Mi Home app (China region) for dock functions receive no response from the dock
    - During docking, the robot can locate the station but fails to complete alignment and cannot enter the dock
    - Firmware updates download to 100% but consistently fail during installation
    Troubleshooting already completed:
    - Full factory reset and re-pairing in Mi Home (China region)
    - Reinstallation of the Mi Home app
    - Testing on multiple networks (including mobile hotspot, 2.4GHz)
    - Multiple firmware update attempts at different times
    - Ensured correct placement of the dock in an open area and cleaned sensors
    - Verified all consumables/components are properly installed
    - Power-cycled both robot and dock
    Despite the above, the issue remains unchanged. Based on the behaviour, it appears the dock’s control system is not functioning, while basic power/charging still works. If anyone knows reliable repairer in South east of Melbourne, please advise. Or any other advice!
