  • Is there a limit in store or online for Autobarn in how many you can redeem when checking out?

  • Can these still be used to buy Apple gift cards at JB?

    • Yes, if the JB Hi Fi staff do not check how you pay.

One day of overlap with this? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/955892

    • $20/$200. Easy money!

  • I wanted to buy a $100 item at anaconda. Would the promo for $20 off work with this gift card?

    • +2

Yes. You use this like an EFTPOS card.

  • +1

whats the maximum number of GC allowed in 1 transaction at JB & OW?

    • 3 for OW. Technically unlimited for JB, I guess just depends on how committed you are. Some people have redeemed over 50 gift cards in a single transaction at JB.

      • +1

Thanks. 3 for OW limit - is that online or instore?

        • Sorry, I was confusing OW with TGG. TGG have the 3 card limit but that appears to be for online only.

      • +3

Is the limit of three at Officeworks a recent change?

Sorry, I was confusing OW with TGG. TGG have the 3 card limit but that appears to be for online only.

If you have a look at the FAQ mentioned at the bottom of the deal description, there are entries that answer your question:

      • +1

        thanks!!

    • +1

I used five for something yesterday and felt like I was pushing my luck, but the clerk said they had a customer recently use 30!

    • +1

I don't think they have a limit for JB. Just used like 8 cards in-store recently.

  • +1

Is it safe now to buy these physical cards?

    • Get the new ones with numbers hidden in the sleeve

  • -1

What's the best way to make the clerk's life easier if we want to use 25-30 gift cards?

    • +2

Highest denomination, pre scratch the pin#

      • +1

When I click the Ultimate Celebrate link it seems $500 for physical card is the limit. Not too bad.

        • Just make sure the store you want is on that particular card as they vary.

        • When sold in physical stores, the $500 maximum for physical Ultimate gift cards is actually for the variable load denomination, which is specifically excluded from this deal (and pretty much every other deal on physical Ultimate gift cards these days).

The only denomination of Ultimate Celebrate gift cards included in this deal is the $50 fixed-value denomination. Not so good.

        • Only $50 denominations for celebrate are 10% off bruv

    • What store? Some only alow 3-4 cards per tranny

      • +1

JB doesn't have a limit from what I've read, someone had used 30 cards in a transaction. Just felt bad if I have to have 30 cards for the clerk to process!

        • +2

I used 30 at TGG but I did convert them to TGG giftcards to make it quicker. Still the checkout chicas were moaning and saying this shouldn't be allowed. Ah well, saved $300 for their 5 minutes at the job.

      • +2

        that's ok I'm straight…they made that choice.

  • anyone know how many gift cards i can use online for Michael Hill?

    • I have used 18 previously but through the chat. I am sure instore you should be okay. Online you wouldn't be able to use many.

  • Are these prone to being tampered? Asking because I wanted to grab some and won't purchase until 2 weeks later.

  • As usual, Everyone will be in the freezer.

  • +2

Decided to test the waters at Officeworks this morning and try and buy a Netflix gift card using a Ultimate Everyone via digital wallet.
As expected and described in the FAQ. It triggered the Invalid Product Mix error on the EFTPOS terminal.

Additionally, it is against Officeworks' gift card policy to use Ultimate or Celebration gift cards to purchase any gift cards in their stores. Attempting to use an Ultimate or Celebration gift card to pay for a gift card instore (including via a mobile wallet) should trigger an Invalid Product Mix error on the EFTPOS terminal.

    • Just buy something random on the gift card and return it. I had an issue with an item and wanted to return it (after buying with one of these gift cards)

because it's run on the eftpos network they will just refund back to any card at least the clerks in our case never really paid attention.

Even if they do ask, they are just like do you have the original card and you say apple pay and show the card. then before you tap switch cards by locking the phone you show them and "unlock" it by bringing up apple pay which quickly opens it up to the default card (not the gift card).

even if they check the receipt (as if they care) it's generally too late if you refund to an eftpos card (make sure the switch on your bank account apple pay is set to eftpos and refund)

again, you are getting your own money back so it's not really an issue before people start howling.

  • +2

Fortunately things went well, used 25 cards at Officeworks without much issues. The in-store staff was very helpful - and having the pins prescratched helped expedite things very much. In and out in around 10 mins!

    • +1

Going to 5 different stores to get 25 cards. Nice spirit.

      • +1

"Limit 5 gift cards per customer"

just split to pay 5 cards each transaction is fine.

  • Any suggestions on the best way to safely store these cards for six months? Is it safe to add my physical card to https://myprepaidcentre.com.au/my-cards
? If I add it, will it prevent anyone else from redeeming the card if it’s compromised?

    • +1

Any reason you want to keep them for 6 months? I feel like this deal shows up often enough that you could probably get it again closer to your spending date.

      • I’m quite sure I’ll buy something big within six months.

        • +3

Not a great idea in my opinion but my risk tolerance for longer term holding of these kinds of gift cards isn't super high. I've seen enough ADAGCHS posts over time that I wouldn't be holding cards just in case I decide to buy something.

    • +1

I would wait for next 10% off

  • -2

Can I use Ultimate Her at officeworks? The guide only mentions " Ultimate or Celebration gift cards"

    • +2

The description section of this deal has a full table outlining which cards can be used at which stores.

Officeworks is not listed under "Where is this card accepted?" for the Ultimate Her card.

You could instead use the Ultimate Celebrate, Thank You or Everyone cards if you wish to purchase from Officeworks.

  • -2

Have an ultimate everyone card that expires today.

What's the best place to use it up?

I remember someone saying to use it at officeworks and convert to a Coles gift card. ..maybe ???

.P..S. mine didn't work for first 2 years, and had to go through hoops to get it to work..and they didnt expend the expiry.

  • -1

    @WookieMonster

I have a ultimate everyone giftcard expiring today.

I think you advised me previously to swap it at office works for a visa or Coles giftcard?

Can't remember? Also can't find a way to search my previous Ozbargain comments to find the answer.

Basically, happy to swap for a Coles/ woolies card. What's the best way to swap a ultimate everyone card ?

    Thanks

    • +1

The ability to use an Ultimate gift card to pay for a gift card at Officeworks stopped working for me in June 2023. Someone else commented in this deal yesterday saying they got an error message on the EFTPOS terminal. Hardly surprising, since it is against the Officeworks gift card policy to use a gift card to purchase a gift card.

You would have more success using your Ultimate Everyone gift card to purchase regular goods (or potentially a prepaid SIM card) at Officeworks, or a gift card in-store at a different retailer (e.g. JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, EB Games).

      • Well, you are right. I'm in ow right now and Coles / myer gift card failed.

Guess I'll buy anything random, and return it straight away.

        This will be fun…

      • @wookiemonster

        Well, it gets better.

The card came up "expired". Even though when logged in to check balance it says exp - 30/4/2026.

Called Blackhawk and the system would accept the card PRN number. Puts me through to a person.

He says it shows April 30 expiry, but it actually expired 3 years from purchase April 6.

Reported them to AFCA, OCBA and ACCC.

Up there with some of the dodgiest things I have experienced lately.

P.S. Thanks for your super quick assistance. Always amazing and on point … legend.

  • For reasons above I have to neg this deal. Not worth the hassle.

I bought mine via Shopback. May / may not matter. But it has been nothing but trouble since I got it.

Didn't work.. 20 odd emails (many not responded to, and simply closed). Ecalation..AFCA involvement to get it reissued.
Now the expiry is not what is written on the card.

    Avoid.

    • I bought mine via Shopback.

Now the expiry is not what is written on the card.

Virtual gift cards would have a different expiry to physical gift cards, no?

      • No idea, I only have the electronic giftcard.

Marked expiry on the card says 30/4… But apparently expired 6/4.

        • How is a virtual gift card marked with an expiry date?

          • @topherboi: When you log in and do a balance check. Has the card number, PRN and expiry.

  • Bought 5x of the everyone, will probably get another 5x tomorrow. Thanks OP

  • Is it possible to use multiple cards to pay for 1 online order in IKEA?

    • +1

Theoretically there should be no limit, however some people (including myself) have experienced issues trying to redeem multiple IKEA gift cards online in the past. Others have had no problem at all.

Hopefully they've fixed this known issue by now.

    • Turn them into ikea gift cards via the ultimate giftcard swap site then print all the barcodes so it's easy for them to scan in-store. I'm gonna be doing this soon for a wardrobe

  • +1

Used 25 x $50 cards at Good Guys yesterday.I had a mixture of Thankyou, Celebrate and Everyone. For some reason, only the Everyone cards (I had 13 of them) did not scan through the handheld barcode machine. The workaround was spending 10 mins adding them to my mobile wallet. In store staff at the Nunawading, VIC store was excellent. The server said his record was 90 gift cards! I agree with others, go prepared by having the PIN prescratched.

    • When you say "handheld barcode machine" do you mean they were just swiping the magstripe through a card terminal or were they actually able to redeem the card balances by scanning the barcode on the reverse of the card?

      • They were swiping the magstripe through a card terminal.

    • Trying to clear my digital visa gift cards at TGG the other day. 3 of them went through while the last one didn't. Trying at other shops like Coles and OW got rejected too. The support said it might had a terminal fee on a low balance transaction. Maybe.

I agree with others, go prepared by having the PIN prescratched.

I prefer to keep unscratched until I use them.

  • Do Coles restock them often?

    • +2

You have to drive around to multiple stores. From my experience with discounted giftcard hunting, areas with larger migrant populations will be sold out fast but the more exxy / upper tax bracket suburbs, those stores will have stock. Remember only 5 Ultimate Giftcards per person per day limit. Use different checkouts or go with a friend.
