C7K was around 2900 over Easter and it is a lot more tv

    • i haven't been following the TCL release for this past year. is the C7K the successor to C755 and if so, what is the P7K the successor to?

      • I think P7K is a budget option. Not sure what was the predecessor

      • Probably the successor to the C655? I have the C655, which I got for around the same price, great TV for the money.

      • +7

The C655, C755, C855 are the previous gen models of the C6K, C7K, C8K. All miniLED TVs.

The P7K is a budget option that was proceeded by the P755. It's DLED, not miniLED.

        P7K < C6K < C7K < C8K.

If you're going for size then this is a decent price, if you want a better TV then a 85" C6K, C7K or C8K is a better option for less or similar price. If you want a better TV at 98" then stretch to a C7K (doesn't look like you can get a 98" C6K anywhere).

        • great response. thanks for the details.

And all the components are non-Chinese?

          • -1

@tessel: So you're saying there's no difference between something that's made in China and something that's Chinese owned?

            • +1

@MrZ: Answer to your question is same as answer to 'so you're saying there's no difference between something that's made in Australia and something that's Australian owned'

              • -2

@npnp: Compare number of people using Apple/Samsung phones and Oppo/Xiaomi phones.

                • +2

@MrZ: Living under a rock ei? When was the last time you actually went to China and saw it from your own eyes before jumping into conclusions based on media propaganda? Australia's largest city Sydney will struggle to get inside the top 50 cities in china, if that doesn't tell you anything about how outdated you are, I don't know what will.
Answer to your question is a simple google search away (world market share comparison):
                  Apple 20%
                  Samsung 20%
                  Xiaomi 14%
                  Oppo 12%
                  Vivo 9%
Come out from the rock mate.

                  • @npnp: What am I meant to be seeing exactly by going to China? How many people they can cram into a city?

                    • +2

@MrZ: Cleanliness, including in public toilets; world-class transport with the largest high-speed rail in the world; safety and security (girls and kids can walk alone at 3am no problem); digitisation of the economy up to the street vendor level; cheap food; cheap travel (such as bike/scooter rental and Didi); 24/7 availability of general convenience, such as ordering food or groceries via apps; health-conscious people with minimal obesity and public exercises/dances common in public areas; electric cars; lack of desire for Western fast-food giants; very polite and friendly people….

                      • @Sfh1975: Great but what does this have to do with TVs?

                    • +1

@MrZ: This response exactly says you have no idea whatsoever. Sydney is a crammed city compared to any megacities in China. As long as you keep wearing the 'western propaganda fed' glasses over your eyes, you see exactly what the propaganda wants you to see. Similarly, china also have their own propaganda. Western propaganda wants you to believe there's only one propaganda and that's Chinese. Chinese propaganda wants Chinese people to believe there's only one propaganda, that's western propaganda. And there are people like myself, who's been to both worlds and know exactly there are two propagandas which are equally good in masking their own issues to their own people. I don't pick sides, I just choose to see the truth through propaganda campaigns. Hope you can someday do that too.

TCL bought 51% stake on Sony TV

        • +1

Sony and TCL are forming a joint venture, Bravia, Inc., scheduled to begin in April 2027, where TCL will hold 51% and control manufacturing, while Sony retains 49% and focuses on picture processing/brand management. please cherish Nippon bravia before that.

    • Isn’t that a good thing?

Decent price on the 85 C8K too at $2416.
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/tcl-85-c8k-4k-uhd-premium…

Was able to get The Good Guys to price beat it to $2380 + Delivery.

Could potentially wait for the 10% off Ultimate gift cards at Coles next week, but the hassle of gathering 45+ cards from different Coles and then hoping the TV doesn't sell out in that time didn't seem appealing to me.

You can get them to generate a sales docket via chat and have a week to pay in store. I did that for 98C8K. My retinas glow in the dark after watching giant sausage guy from the boys beating the hell out of the starlight supporter. Somethings you can't unsee

      • I assume that's for JB HIFI? Does that only apply if the store itself has the item in stock? The sales docket the TGG chat rep generated had only 1 hour to pay.

        • +1

You have to ask them to make the instore payment so they generate and email you a docket of sale from TGG chat. They push you to pay online but if you say you have more than 3 giftcards to use, it can only be processed in store. My tv was on backorder and I made the payment instore and waited for it to receive the supply. The stores have sales quota and the local store instead matched the online chat docket to show that they made the sale.

Jb only gives you rest of the day to pay.

          • @Royale with cheese: Ok thanks, I'll keep that in mind for next time. Still though, I really really didn't want to hunt down that amount of gift cards, maybe it they were at denominations larger than $50 each, or even the variable cards (up to $500) it would be much more appealing.

            • @Karmond: It was definitely frowned upon by checkout staff but ah well…. i used about 36 but I did change most ro TGG giftcards online as it is much quicker and doesn't shut the system down (the eftpos cards have limit of 5 at a time)

    Friendly reminder, a 100 inch TV in 2017 was $39,000 AUD…

    • $53,000 in today's dollars apparently

    • +1

Imagine paying that kind of money. But then again most people spending that amount could probably afford it

    • How much was a 100" TV in 2008? I remember seeing one on display at HN (it was a plasma, of course). But didn't have a price tag.

      • Panasonic Plasma 103” Retailed for $100k. There was one installed in the boardroom at my work up until 2 years ago. Required a special left to install.

        • Interesting, so in 10 years the price only went down from 100k to 40k.

  • -3

Great price. But at that size would go up to 8k. The pixels are getting really big at that size. 4k at around 80-90" is the maximum.

    • Just sit further back… Or buy a tiny tv and sit really close.

    • +1

Where are you going to find 8k content?

      • -1

If the processing engine is good, upscaling has improved immensely over the years. Even more recently assisted with AI algorithms. Hard to tell the difference in a store as the 8k TVs usually stream 8k content

      • That is the next problem.
It is a great deal and if I had to choose today to upgrade from say 65 or 75 I wouldn't take the 100" 4k tv and would prefer something around 85".
I'm sitting around 4m away from the tv, that's just the limitation of the living room. Also I wouldn't gain anything if I sit further back from a larger tv.

I prepared the tv wall to fit up to 120", but for that it needs 8k pixels and a really good upscaler for non native content. Of course I want all that for sub $3k.
Until then I'll keep the 85".

  • I've got 2 of the older models 2024 and 2025 (I think) for similar prices last year and the year before. Gave the older one to the old man to replace a projector. Great bang for their buck. I'm tempted to grab this one. Thanks for posting.

    • mount on wall or on tv cabinet? i wanna mount it on wall but seems so heavy and so much work

      • I have mine on a TV unit. And the old man has his in the old projector spot which has a recessed ledge it fit on. They do have a bit of weight in them. But if done properly to batons in the wall, I think a heavy duty wall mount would be ok. If you're not confident with that, I'd get a professional to do it. Some stores offer these services.

  • Do I pull the trigger now or possibly wait a bit longer to see what happens when the new model TVs come out or EOFY sales?

Been eyeing off a few TCL TVs for a while, the one I’m after (TCL 85” C6K) has dropped to $1666 from $1961. After this specific one as it has a matte finish and the tv will be placed near a large sliding door.

  • $2495 with free del but appears to only be available in Sydney… https://www.retravision.com.au/tcl-98inch-p7k-qled-led-4k-go…

That's a huge frickin TV! I picked up a 75" inch P7K about a week ago for $1k and thought that thing was massive. It was so big my wife lost her s*** at me for a day… she loves it now though!

    • Imagine how happy she'll (eventually) be after this 98" arrives at the front door!

    • Yes they all complain and then can't get enough of it. I went with 98C8K and hooked it up with stremio for 4k content. Looks nice. Wife loves it.

    • why wouldnt she? size matters, after all!

    • About the right price considering you could get C8K in 85" for 2100 in recent months.

      • Ah okay. Ill wait for the 85C7K to drop to 1500 then.

        • Depends on how quickly stock clears. You can wait but risk not having stock anywhere

  • Backordered one in store today, cheers OP.
