Great game. Definitely more of a visual novel with mission management elements, but a great experience. Insanely polished on Steam Deck.

    • Hard to get bad performance when it's just a bunch of pre-rendered videos, no actual 3D engine involved. As such, will also mean it'll run just as well on a potato.

The dispatch missions are rendered in 3D (many 2D assets in separate layers over a faux CRT screen.) It actually uses about 50% GPU, so it's doing stuff.

My point was it's still a polished experience. Everything is super sharp and well-proportioned at 800p (not always a given) and the button prompts automatically switch to whatever you're using (built-in Xbox style, PS5 buttons, keyboard, etc).

If I didn't have such a huge backlog of shame. I would get this, however, due to the aforementioned backlog of shame I'm going to hold off until it's at least 50% off

It's great fun. Much more of a visual novel though, the actual "gameplay" has very little to do with the actual plot and your performance doesn't really change much. Feels a lot like a telltale game. Choices you make don't have a huge impact on the plot. Limited replay value and curiously enough can't freely repay scenes without erasing subsequent content.

The animations are incredible though, at the level of what you would see in a high quality animated movie. Really enjoyed it all up.

    • I'm halfway through my second playthrough, some decisions definitely alter the game character wise. But after re-doing the first 2 episodes I made some very different decisions which just resulted in the same thing happening anyway. Very Telltale like in that regard.

Great fun though, and the actual "Dispatching" part is a neat little game within the game.

  • Haven’t laughed so hard in years while playing this. Brilliant game.

    Sounds dumb

  • Honestly, don't really need to play it, just watch the youtube playthroughs. You'll get the same experience.

  • Thanks! Been keen to play this heard so many good things

  • This is the company that didn't say anything about censorship on switch until the game came out.

Then AdHoc tried to throw Nintendo under the bus blaming them for the censorship.

Nintendo responded saying we have no such requirement. Like PS, Adhoc should have created a Japan version with censorship to satisfy japan cero rating and an international one without.

Heads up for those with non-gamer partners. I convinced my gf to watch along as I played and she loved it. Could be a good way to get through it.

    • Thanks. Was thinking to the same. I managed to get her into the boys and invincible. This game was giving me the same vibes from the trailer
