  • Offer not available if you’ve held a Westpac Rewards card in the last 24 months, as usual

    • What about Westpac owned banks? St. George, BankSA, Bank of Melbourne

      • Westpac never put any restrictions with the subsidiaries into their promotion.

StG, BoM and BSA usually considered add all of them into the promo restrictions.

Source: just look at the T&Cs

        • Sorry I actually find this wording confusing. Are you saying all the STG, BoM and BSA are linked together but exempt from Westpac? Or are they all linked together and therefore being a recent customer of any of the three smaller banks above would make you excluded from the offer from Westpac?

          • @psabbrev: T&Cs on Westpac (just go to this deal and scroll to bottom):

Existing Westpac customers who currently hold an Earth Classic, Earth Platinum, Earth Platinum Plus, Earth Black, Altitude Classic, Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black credit card, or who have held one in the last 24 months, are not eligible for this offer.

            T&Cs on StG/BoM/BSA (go here https://www.stgeorge.com.au/personal/credit-cards/frequent-f…)

Existing customers who currently hold an Amplify, Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature card issued by St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA, or who have held one in the last 24 months, or Credit Card Product Switches, upgrades or Westpac group staff are not eligible for this offer. This promotion may be varied or withdrawn at any time and is not available in conjunction with any other promotion.

            Pretty clear there.

          • @psabbrev: Sure is confusing wtfaq does this
            $295 + $75 Annual Fee ($75 1st Yr Existing)

Even mean, i ain't never seen anything with two itemised annual fees before

            • @cski: OP description is a bit confusing. Just go direct to the promo page and see.

First year is free - $295 after that.
$75 is the annual fee for the Qantas reward.

The AF is waived for first year regardless existing customer or not.

So basically you only pay $75 for year 1, after that it’ll be $295 + $75 per year.

              • @timhn: The new 75 is crazy i never used to have to pay that, such a shame

                • @cski: Qantas earning credit cards from Westpac & StG have this additional fee for a while now - I think at least 2-3 years.

ANZ also have an additional fee for Rewards credit card - regard less QF or Rewards points, so people didn't see any difference between ANZ cards with AF.

Same with Citibank (now MyCard). You don't see the extra fee but their AF were/are higher ($50 more) for QF cards than the one non-QF earning cards - so basically same.

NAB still remaining the only one not add extra fee on top of AF but I'm pretty sure they will join the rest.

                  • @timhn:

NAB still remaining the only one not add extra fee on top of AF

Kinda just assumed that's cos it's simply rolled into their high-ass fee lol.

                • @cski: It's not new. Westpac has evidently charged a Qantas fee since at least 2018.

            • @cski: There is a generic annual fee, then an additional fee if you want to earn Qantas Points or Velocity Points.

No additional fee if you take the default Westpac Altitude rewards program instead of Qantas or Velocity.

    • Yeah this should be included in op post too

    • Last of an era..

All business card offers from here on..

  • Do you have to be a Westpac customer for the fee to be waived?

    • No mention of it in the T&Cs that I could find.

Can always just open a fee free transaction account online and then apply through internet banking if you're worried. Have done that before with NAB and WBC card offers without issue.

      • I can’t find anything about the need to be a Westpac customer for the yearly fee waiver either.

        • I would expect to be a “customer” of Westpac before getting this deal just in case. As bloke said above, just create a free transaction account then apply for this after. I’ve done this with NAB before so can’t see why you can’t do that with Westpac with this deal

  • Got the bonus 130,000 Qantas Points on the NAB Qantas Rewards Signature card earlier this year, will look to get on this as well. Time for a trip with all these Qantas points? Thanks OP

    • I’m on that card now, only holding for the 100k - the extra 30k is for >12 months hold?

      • Yeah same I’m only holding out for the initial 100k points coz after 12 months then you need to pay like $300 or whatever it is for the annual fee

        • Bad deal in year 2, like all of them.

Don’t forget to wait for the $250 cash back before you close it.

    • Im the other way round (have and got points from this post's card few weeks back) and looking to churn. Will look for NAB QRS deals

    • How did you spend enough to meet the threshold? Any tips?

  • Anyone feel like Westpac backend systems are stuck in the 90s?

    • It's partly why they're going through a multi-billion dollar uplift at the moment (though most of that is consolidation of IT systems with St George, Bank of Melbourne etc)

      • aka UNITE program 😅

  • What are people spending $6000 on to earn these points? Does paying the ATO work? Does paying rent work?

I recently joined QFF, so just looking to understand how others take advantage of these offers

    • pay rent via sniip

      • sniip doesn't work for my Brisbane council bill, all banks are able to pick them out

        • Wow really when was this? Did you notify them about it? Cos that would defeat their entire business model wouldn't it?

          • @vawiyoci: ANZ Westpac and NAB all picked it up and not paying points on it and disqualified it as eligible spending.
Just call any of the banks and they will confirm easily for you

            • @Smilence03: So you didn't hit up sniip about it? This seems like a pretty deal otherwise. And you were already able to confirm 3 different affected banks?

              • @vawiyoci: I have had 3 credit cards from these banks, and none of them awarded me points for paying BCC via sniip

                Banks can tell.

I dont know why people still use sniip.

It doesn’t work anymore at least in my case

    • If you have the spare cash you can book something fully refundable, cancel after you get the points (cash goes back as credit to the card) then spread the cost out over the rest of the year on standard spend like groceries and then cancel the card before the next annual fee is due.

      • Do you have an example of something fully refundable for that much?

      • Can you call them up and ask them to refund the extra credit amount in your card?

    • Normal spend. $6000 in 120 days is just over $350 a week.
But when I churn and burn it tends to be with council rates and school fees in one hit. Insurance, car rego. All adds up very quick.

      • The initial offer is awesome; used the points to get return tickets for my mum and I to China when tripadeal did the 50% Qantas points redemption offer - only 131k points to cover flights accom meals etc instead of paying $2000.

        • When did tripadeal do 50% Qantas redemption offer? I gotta get on the next deal!

          • @CodeXD: It was done in August right after Qantas did the 20% points nerf.

      • That's less than my petrol bill

      • Oh lucky for me, mine is varied
        Home insurance Jan
        School fee Feb
        Council fee July
        Car redo/insurance - Nov

So I do the deals where possible early in the year and then do 2nd round end of the year with another deal

    • You'll need to ask my wife. She is not a member of Ozbargain…

    • 'Eligible purchases do not include interest, fees and charges, cash or ATM cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, gambling transactions, a purchase from or payment to a local, state or federal government or government related agency, BPAY or similar transactions (such as Post Billpay), refunds and balance transfers debited from the card account.'

No paying ATO fees unfortunately. I stopped paying my ATO fees with a CC anyway due to the surcharge for card payments with them.

      • It's easy to work around the "eligible spend" to hit that $6000 target. I buy VISA or Mastercard gift cards from Coles or Woolies when they have a bonus point promo. Take those gift cards to AusPost and pay for council rates, car rego, water bill etc. Been doing this successfully for years.

    • Health insurance, Rent via sniip, ATO via sniip
      Pay utilities month in advance

  • What is changed from the original offer, please?

  • Only got approved yesterday (friday) after applying a few days ago, phew. Hope that $295 fee is still waived. Looks like that's what's new?

Worth keeping until the second year for 60k points bonus?

    • Depends on situation. I usually cancel ASAP so I can reapply sooner when another deal comes around - 24 months from cancellation. I take notes of all cc applications and dates of cancellation etc. Sometimes you also get the annual fee (pro rata) refunded. Not sure if refund applies here.
But I recently got the other Westpac deal recently, and will likely just keep it indefinitely as main cc card as my main banking is with Westpac so nice to consolidate.
60k isn't too bad for a renewal bonus.

  • It's 3am so maybe I'm just really tired…

If I get the top card with most points.. And it says up to 200k points. And this offer gives 90+60 year after if you meet spending requirements…

Is this all combined or is it one or the other. What's the max total points over say 2 years of owning one?

Basically I actually want to consolidate my banks (have 2, St George and ing) into one and yeet my ing cc in favour of a qff card. But I want everything in one bank for simplicity sake/ease of 'deposit' requirements etc instead if always transferring..

Looks like westpac doesn't cover international conversion fees though which is a bummer..

Edit: after re reading it. Nvm. I'm dumb. Ignore my question lol

I feel like a few years ago when I churned a few times the yearly points were higher with less hurdles… Lol.

  • Be wary about the links. Click on to above one will get you the $0 first year annual fee. I went to finder dot com and it doesn’t state the $0 first year annual fee. Same card.

    • I noticed the same thing, when I search the credit card on the Westpac website it states a reduced annual fee of $200, and includes 2 complimentary lounge passes and complimentary insurance. Whereas the link above states a $0 annual fee. I don't see complimentary lounge passes included in the link above, but happy with the $0 annual fee.

      • When I'm signed into the app I only see the $200 reduced fee offer, not the $0 first year card fee that's shown on the website….

        • Same here.

Any one have applied to via this link but already existing WP customer? Did you get charge the AF in the first statement?

  • 200,000 altitude points is $885? Does that sound about right? If so this a cracking good deal!

    • More like 100,000 for $0 then cancel it, but the eligible spend is mighty high. What do you do with altitude points anyway?

  • Wife is an additional card holder of my Altitude Qantas Black card. She hasn't had a Westpac CC in the last 24 months herself. Will she be eligible for this offer?

    • Same question, does anyone know the answer?

      • Yeah it's fine additional cardholders never count as its own separate active one.

  • God I hate the state of cc churning atm

    • Just going to get worse.

  • pretty good deal, the deal before this was 200$ annual card fee if you're a westpac member I think

  • Is this better than the St G Amplify Card?

I'm terrible with working out exactly the best. Looking for QFF Points for our yearly holiday.

  • Bear in mind deal starts only after April 30

    • Where does it state starts after April 30?

      • They may be confused by the notice at the top of the page, which is seemingly the only mention of 30 April.

        Important Notice
From 30 April 2026, we’re making changes to some Westpac Credit Card fees including updates to Cash Advance Fee, Missed Payment Fee and the way the annual card fee is charged on our Low Rate Credit Card. Find out more.

This notice has nothing to do with the offer validity period.

    • That's not true, the link op provided worked.

  • Wonder why they charge 75 dollars for the Qantas rewards program. Some people already have the Qantas frequent flyer membership.

Or the rewards program is different to the QFF membership?

And if aren't, then has someone gotten away with not paying the 75 fee? Or well refunding it, cause they auto charge it to the card.

    • $75 is the admin fee for them to convert your spending into Qantas/Velocity points

      • 😂

        Wait you're not joking?

        • It’s not that uncommon. ANZ does it as well

        • They have started charged extra on Qantas points earning CC for at least 2-3 years now.

        • This is pretty common, and if you're not paying a separate fee for the Qantas redemption. It's being covered in a rolled up fee at other banks, like NAB etc

  • The fee should be waived if your home loan is with westpac, but you need to contact them

    • The first year fee is waived if you use the link on this post regardless of if you have a home loan or not

    • When I signed up while logged in, it said it'd be part of my package and waived it (but tbc if it gets charged)

  • What 90k points can get you ?

    • Not far. Maybe 8-10 hours flight.

    • Return flight to anywhere in Asia on economy.

    • Numerous heavily discounted domestic flights if you have the flexibility to fly when Classic Rewards flights are available

    • ~100k points can you a decent fishing reel

    • Round trip to Vietnam in economy & with Jetstar.

      • you can do that twice with 90k points

        • Don't know how you can get that.

Cheapest one way is around 24,700 points, so around trip almost 50K points. You need another 10K at least for 2 round trips.

That was with dummy booking from Sydney on low season period.

          • @timhn: 10k is very easy, considering you already would be at 95k after spend. so another $3,800 spend gets you to 98,800

  • Do they still offer 2 lounge passes and if so do you get to choose which program you get them with (eg if I want to earn VA points can I get 2x Priority Pass entries?)

  • I applied for Westpac Qantas card on 22 April. Am I qualified for no fee for first year offer?

  • damn, just applied another deal (120k points for $200+75) on Friday!!! Errrrr

    • Maybe call them and cancel your application and then reapply

      • too late , card was approved this morning

        • Mine wasn't yet approved.
          I successfully cancelled the application

  • Does anyone know if the same deal will be offered through St George, Bank of Melbourne, Bank SA? I signed up for a Westpac cc last year so not eligible for this deal unfortunately.

  • Any existing Westpac customers having issues applying for this card? Clicked on the link and entered my details, tells me I am an existing customer and to sign in. When I sign in and look under credit cards, there is an annual fee of $200 for the card. Not sure how to find this offer as an existing customer once signed in.

    • Did you manage to figure this out? Cheers.
