I stupidly spent around $1k on a yamaha ysp-2700 a few years ago that was supposed to do some magic speaker movement to emulate a surround sound environment by bouncing off walls. Worked in theory, but as soon as the room changes a little bit or the soundbar moves a mm it stops.
Would love a proper surround system.
Stops as in you have to recalibrate, or just doesn’t work anymore?
Sorry, need to recalibrate. You can’t take the mic you use to recalibrate it out without it moving and because it angles all the speakers in a way to bounce off walls, they need to be really precise. I also don’t think it plays well with my plantation shutters being open or closed.
I tried getting a short f to f jack dongle that will hang down that I can plug in and out of that, but as soon as there’s a connection to the calibration mic port it starts up on calibration mode and (profanity) with arc.
Just annoying and none of the reviews at the time mentioned this. Everyone said it was magic and it worked amazingly well.
It’s still a good 2.1 bar and it’ll do for the next little while, but I’d love a proper surround setup with atmos.

Is it really a unbelievable sound compared bose or sonos?
Depends on what you are comparing against. Bose ultra, plus bass module, plus rear speakers fills up the room quite well. But I think thats at least double or more the price( even on clearance).
If u compare with older bose models, this can gobble them up with at least twice the power.
Not sure of sonos.

@Zeee: This is not an audiophile product. It is very good for movies, but for music, the sound is tinny. Don't get me wrong, for the price this is excellent value, but you are paying for the surround sound and Atmos.
@omblygombly: I disagree that the sound for music is tinny. It is decently full range with the subwoofer setup correctly, and sounds just fine for music (within its category).
But no it is not for audiophiles, they like big dollar amps, esoteric interconnects and high end drivers. I bounce between this soundbar and my Beolab 9 and Devialet speakers, and they are definitely more accurate and transparent, but I don't hate the soundbar after listening to my higher end gear.
@dtpearson: Some Audiophiles are silly, but you don't need to spend much money for a state of the art amp these days. In fact, the Topping LA90 is $639 down from 1k at the moment at Addicted to audio. Get a decently sensitive pair of speakers and you're golden. You could DIY a pair a of Mechano23 for around $500. This is more a general comment about quality vs convenience and price than anything directly.

@Zeee: Both never design for audiophile. It cannot produce stereo like a standard speaker but atmos seems acceptable on sonos
Incredible system for this price point. If you are just using TV speakers or a cheapy soundbar this is a huge upgrade that is worth the money if you like hearing truer sound. It's the step before diving into a home theatre system with speakers all over the room at 10x the cost 😂

I moved from a traditional AV system to the Samsung model that is basically this without the rears and I love it. Only one remote now (TV remote does it all now) and sound quality improved too, since I'm an AV noob and my gear was probably mismatched. Looks better sounds better and uses better.
One issue to be aware of is compatibility with vinyl record players is awkward unless you are happy with Bluetooth. Mine has HDMI and optical in only, ie. Digital only.
I didn't neg you, but I suspect those that did know that one, there's multiple ways around this..
And two, vinyl you should probably be using a nice pair of stereo bookshelves (even budget ones) placed nicely with your player separately. I've never found soundbars to be particularly great at straight music/standard stereo for purposed listening but also… Sound is subjective so you do you boo!
Yeah. That's the essence of the issue. It's not one I was aware of so I'm just saying. For me it's perfectly good for general music streaming though.

Kind of an insane move but I got a cheap analog digital converter off amazon that lets me use the optical in. Works great. I didn't have space for separate speakers.

Powering the rear speaker is problematic for me (I don't want wires running along the floor). But damn this is cheaper than the 5.1.2 model.

How well do different branded soundbar and TVs pair? I have TCL C8K.
Obviously I wouldn't be getting the Samsung to Samsung features, but would everything else work well? The 4k/120hz passthrough is tempting me with this one.

I have the Soundbar connected to the eARC port on the TV, and use a Switch 2 plugged into the TV. I don't run anything directly into the soundbar.

You have to keep checking. They sometimes get a few more after a couple of days. No stock alerts ever come. I think they allocate stock to various supply chains and then readjust once one is sold out
