Yeah, it's a vertuo. No, you can't use any other pods. Still a good deal.

This is part of Mother's Day deals for 2026.

I had a Vertuo for many years until I decided to change to the popular Delonghi Magnifica to save money. After over a year of trying to find the perfect coffee for it, I realised that to get close to the same quality as the Vertuo, I have to use about $1 of coffee per cup and it's still not as good as the Vertuo, and you get the extra annoying step of having to clean out the tray every 3-4 cups.

The worst part of the Vertuo for me is the waste. You either throw the capsules away, or you send them back to Nespresso which is an extra annoying step.

BTW, you can get custom things to re-use the capsules with your own coffee. But that's also a hassle as you have to empty and re-fill the capsules, plus use disposible coffee filter pieces on it, and you still can't get the same quality as you get from the Nespresso capsules.

    • get a couple of reusable silicon convers and reuse original Nespresso pods with your own ground beans, much better coffee than Nespresso : )

    • I was at Myer today, actually looking at OP. Sales rep mentioned can buy a $5 pre-paid auspost pouch that can hold 200 pods (don't quote me) that you just drop in one of the red post box.
      Edit: Actually 180 Professional / 180 Original / 90 Vertuo capsules

Yeah, that's an option. Alternatively, when you order pods from Nespresso you can also get recycle bags that you can drop off at many locations. The post office bag is easier.

I agree, it is extremely wasteful for coffee that tastes average anyway.

Nestlé has also and continues to do some truly horrific things, I would be very hesitant to give them my money.

  • Pods are expensive?
Is the Nespresso De'Longhi Essenza Mini better?

    • Personally I have found the Nespresso Vertuo pods are much better than the standard Nespresso pods, with the big downside being that the Vertuo pods can only be purchased from Nespresso.

Good pick up seems a scam of temple and webster

  • Main issue that pods have gone up, use to be able to get about 110 pods for $100 using the subscription and monthly promos.
Now that normal pods are 1.40 each, even with extra promos, basically still looking about $1.10 a pod.

110 pods use to last me about 3months, and helped me avoid buying coffees.

    • Where do you get your pods and promos from?
Can't buy the pods from Coles/Woolies?

      • +2

Vertuo pods can only be bought from Nespresso stores or online, when you have a subscription you get 10% off and free postage over $70, website also stacks monthly deals that you get emailed. So say black friday, you might get 50 extra pods if you order 200. it will stack.

        • Thanks!

        • Also stacks with the occasional card statement credit, NAB Goodies actually have one on now - $10 credit from $70 spend (targeted).

  • Never tried it before, is it anywhere near the ones that can be done by the dual boiler?
    Thanks

    • It's subjective, but probably not.

Nespresso Vertuo makes a really good coffee, but it isn't going to be as good as a good espresso machine. The main benefit of Nespresso Vertuo is that it can make a very decent coffee without the hassle of grinding, tamping, etc.

That said, I have a Delonghi Magnifica and a Breville Barista Express and I find the Nespresso Vertuo to produce a better coffee than both of those. If you don't like Nespresso coffee though, then anything else will be a better option.

I used this machine for many years, suits lazy but cheap people like me 🤣Reuse the pods by buying aluminium seals from amazon which works out pretty cheap. Fill the podiatrist with espresso ground and I have perfected a simple formula (for my taste).

Downside is the hassle of emptying the pod, wash, dry, then filling it, use, and repeat.

I make a batch every weekend to make the daily brew more efficient (just brew and zero washing during weekdays).

    This price is a steal…

      wow. true bargainer.

    • Do you have a link for the aluminum seal you use and what coffee beans works best for this? Thanks

  • I use a portable one https://amzn.asia/d/0do6S7K3

Nah, can't afford Vertuo pods. It's daylight robbery.

  • My advice, I would just avoid any “pop” model.

I bought one last year, then returned it back to Costco due to a leaking fault. Got the exchange machine. Again same fault. Got another exchange…. Now water flow is inconsistent across the 80ml vs 15ml vs 230ml

FYI you can get it cheaper at $79 through Price Beat from The Good Guys

  • I loved my standard pod machine, unfortunately it wasn't economical having up to 3 premium pods a day

    • I find the Coles Daley Street compatible pods the best tasting of the substitutes available for standard Nespresso pods. They're cheap too if you buy a 20-pack - 33c/pod.

  • Has anyone used an adapter, that allows you to use the smaller original Nespresso pods in a Nespresso Vertuo machine?

  • Jb hi-fi price matched AND gave 30 additional pods from their store ( ~$33 worth) YMMV

This is in addition to the 30 claimable online with nespresso + the 10 inside the box

    • Nice. Would jump on this especially if I could use the nab goodies offer to stack but I need to use my Myer gift card first before they expires next month.

Note the printer/ink or razor/blade model - they moved from the original to this one which has a barcode and no knockoffs to compete with.
