I'll put in for the 7 months vacation for these fares. I'm sure the boss will be cool when he sees the prices.

      WFH or bust

I'd say even if you made it to Vietnam, the likelihood of the return leg being cancelled is pretty high

    • +21

I’ve travelled using Vietjet over 20x without cancellation maybe a few delays but that’s normal

      • +5

@EarlyBird is talking about cancellations considering current fuel situation

      • +5

VN here, Vietjet is mass cancelling a lot of flights to/from Japan due to rising fuel costs. Not AU yet, but on hopium atm.

      • +6

Vietjet is notorious for cancelling flights. I lived in Vietnam for 3+ years and even the locals know this.

      • Same here, people don't mind paying ridiculously less and still don't appreciate 'less' cancellations compared to some of the 'so called' full service airlines (Qantas, cough cough..) LOL

    • Rubbish, I've flown VietJet heaps of times and none of my flights have been cancelled.

  • +11

Just had my vietjet flight to hcmc changed to a day earlier with no notice.

    Not a great first experience

    • +3

Thankfully mine got changed the other way so get an extra day in Vietnam now

  • +13

The worst airlines I've ever experienced and I've already put it on my blacklist for domestic travel. I find their international routes have less delays and cancellations but their domestic routes are terrible.

    • +3

Exactly, always VN Airlines for VN domestic flights. Buying additional luggage for VJ and it always ends up being almost as expensive as VNA.

  • +1

Vietjet must have a bottomless bag of money. How on earth do they sustain these prices?

    • +3

Probably don't need multi billion dollar profits for the year. Just hundreds of millions.

    • +1

government subsidies on certain routes where they want to encourage tourism like from australia

    • +1

      OZbargain: Buy now, think later.
Vietjet: Take the money now, refund later…

      • Good luck having your money back. They always give it back in credit and you have max 1 yr to use. If you wanna make any complaint, good luck, they just simply don't give a damn.

The owner, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, is the 2nd richest person in Vietnam after Pham Nhat Vuong (Vingroup, Vinfast, etc).

She also operates other businesses, including a bank.

      • -5

Do we need to know this? lol

    • +1

Government pays some, then the tourism spends far more money than the small loss on flights. Same reason you can fly 9-15 hours to China for ~$450 when it always used to cost $1200.

  • +2

want peace of mind on your trip… don't book VietJet. u never know, they will cancel/reschedule the flights + very, very pathetic customer service.

  • In the news this week… If you buy make sure you use a credit card:-

In Vietnam, disruptions to jet fuel (Jet A-1) supply linked to tensions in the Middle East are also raising concerns about potential shortages, forcing domestic airlines to scale back their networks.

Since April, Vietnamese carriers have reduced frequencies on multiple domestic and international routes to optimise operations amid tightening and increasingly expensive fuel supply. Numerous flights have already been cancelled, disrupting travel plans and significantly impacting tourism businesses.

On April 17, director general of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), Uong Viet Dung, sent a letter to the administrator of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, requesting support to maintain stable aviation fuel supplies for Vietnam.

    • I already bought mine for my June trip a few months ago, with credit card. On hopium atm.

  • +5

If you fly before September, don't forget to use "VJ20" code for another 20% off airline fares (that's for Vietjet's cut of the ticker price, not the whole fare)

  • How's Viet jet compare to Air Asia or Jetstar?

    • +5

      Same shit, different name

  • +2

Cheap ticket for a reason…not in school holiday.

  • cant find any dates during june

  • +1

Family members have flown Viet Jet international many times and it’s not as bad as domestic routes.

International delays aren’t as common as airports actually fine the airlines for delays. Hence, they might outright cancel flights instead and merge it with next available. Domestic flights are commonly delayed as there’s no consequences.

  • +5

550 hours annual leave to use up
Been given notice I need to take annual leave I have too much banked up
I'm willing to take a punt on cheap VietJet flights and spend more time there if cancelled on the return

  • +1

If you are happy to pay $1k , go VN airlines for the screen and provided food.

Save $500 with Vietjet. Just buy food and drink on the planes…I prefer this way coz so many good food options. Also bring your ipad for games and movies.

  • +1

But Vietnam is not visa free for us.. meanwhile they do for most of EU countries

  • Yup I have multiple entries already. Just saying in general

  • Is there any tracker so I can find deals on certain route? Thank you

  • Says $347 but then comes up as $394… plus $93 for baggage. Bait and switched.
