Last year AMEX didn't honour this for a restaurant on Darling Harbour: Meat District Co - great location, a terrible, dog-foody meal.

Be warned: if restaurants use different payment terminals, it can subvert the offer.

    • +1

Also be wary of restaurants that are attached to hotels; might come up as the hotel instead of the restaurant

    • +1

Are we talking premium dog food or home brand

    • +10

Did you raise a complain to Amex about that? If you have the receipt, I think they would honour it.

  • +3

Thought this was per transaction. Nope, across all restaurants and transactions it’s a max $25 back on the card.

    • +10

As it has been for the past five or so years

      • -2

it hasn't maybe it was never explicitly worded like that or many of us found a loophole, but till 2024 @jalalii is correct.

  • +1

    seems expired or targeted

    • Are you adding to your primary card or a supplementary card? Not available for supp cards

      • It's definitely targeted. I tried adding my one and only card (don't have any supps) and it said ineligible.

        • What card do you have? I was able to add to my standard Elevate and grandfathered Velocity Escape cards (but I do eat out a lot)

          • +1

            @kerfuffle: Amex Platinum Velocity

            • +2

@R1ngSt1nger: Thanks! Hopefully we can build up some data points with our information. Too bad manual links aren't a thing any more; those were the days

  • +1

    Thanks OP, lots of places

  • +1

Yes on primary, none on supplements

  • I'll sign up, but this deal has lost its charm since last year's changes to the program limiting cashback to $25. Was absolutely wonderful to spend a month dining out and trying new places when it was uncapped.

    • +4

It's always been capped and has been $25 since 2021. 2020 had a different cap.

      • -5

I could've worded it better. It used to be $25 per card per transaction, but you could use it multiple times that month and exceed a cumulative $25 in cashback. I and others I know have gotten hundreds of $ in value from it each AEDMO until last year. Now the cashback itself it capped to a total benefit of $25, which means like one meal, or a month of cheaper coffees.

        • +6

It never exceeded $25 in cashback on one single card.

Source: Have participated in every AEDMO, plus the OzBargain link I provided showing every AEDMO deal posted.

  • Less participating Yayoi this time, IIRC it was all locations previously.

  • It appeared on my AMEX Explorer, nice discount on work lunches for the fortnight

  • +1

got it on my essential card but not the explorer

    • Oh I have it on explorer, main only not supp.

So you can spend up to $125 max to bag the $25 CB.

  • +3

AMEX deals keep getting worse and worse :(

  • +1

woo! my once a year fine dining opportunity

    • woo! my once a year fine dating opportunity

  • Few and fewer participating venues in Melbourne

    • +1

There are places which are NOT a restaurant but still eligable. I'm in Sydney, so I went to Low302 which is a bar last night, used my card, and got the e-mail saying I used this offer.

  • +12

Another year of AEDMO, another year of being annoyed by the most frustrating map that AMEX could produce to show the participating venues…

    • It shows TGV at Windsor, 60km from the CBD.

  • +3

So $125 spend and your offer is tapped out?

  • +1

Does this mean the offer is active immediately for use? Or is this only active for the month of May?

  • +1

    Primary card only… No supps

  • +4

They've made a total mess of the location map. Hardly anything shows up, distances are all wrong and it lists Victorian places when Im in QLD!

    • Same in Sydney, all over the place. I don't even check it. If I get the discount, I get the discount, if not, meah.

    • +2

The map function was rubbish years ago. I remember making similar comment then. Sad to see they didn’t bother to improve this at all since

      • +1

        yep and still rubbish

  • +3

The map website sucks. Difficult to view. Cannot imagine when vibe coding is a trend and still seeing a website like that!

  • I'll be testing this on Friday to see if it stacks with Eatclub. Looking at the TCs, I think it'll be a no but always worth a try!

    • I don't think it'll work either, but do report back!

  • +1

the map is just totally wrong

e.g. tenkomori burwood, tenkomori wynyard and ramen house don't make any sense!!!

    • -1

i dont see tenkomori whynyard, only burwood?

  • +1

wow got email confirmation from amex like 15mins after paying.
"Thank you for using your Amex Delicious Month Out at participating venues Amex Offer with your Card ending in 0xxx".

  • +1

I went to a venue (BKK) that was clearly stated as being eligible for the offer, contacted the customer support service when I didn’t get any email confirmation nor cash back. I had to spend 20 minutes going back-and-forth with customer service who kept insisting that it wasn’t showing up as being eligible, it clearly is. I’ve now sent screenshots and they will investigate. Makes me not trust what’s listed on the map. It may be beneficial to message them on the app before going to the venue just to be safe, that’s what I will be doing.

    • bkk is ? that on cabra?

  • -1

Went to a venue, ordered and when it was time to pay "sorry no Amex", yet venue is listed a participating

    • Save your receipt and screenshots, and complain to Amex so you get your credit

      • -1

Did. But took 20 minutes and for now the outcome is they’ll investigate it. Just annoying to have to chase it

        • +1

What's the restaurant if you don't mind sharing so we know not to go there for this promotion?

    • -2

pro tip. when go in ask first can we pay by amex

      • And walk out if they don't?

        • +1

yes of course? not saying some are doggy and bad, but hey things can happen maybe they are participating but the credit card machine broke down maybe staff drop it to the floor by accident. so they may say yes we accept but not today as the machine broke sorry here a free coca cola for you

  • is it once per venue? or can go to the same place multiple times?

    • +1

      Multiple is fine.

  • Mine worked at a venue that DID accept Amex, but somehow wasn't on their list for this deal. Strange.

  • +1

Extremely useful when I had to buy drink rounds

  • It seems that unlike previous years, Enmore Theatre is no longer part of AEDMO (but they also now use Lightspeed terminals).

Despite not being on the map, Bennelong is a participant
