Got an email from Origin NBN yesterday, sounded pretty unapologetic.
We're writing to let you know we've made the decision to close down our Origin phone service as fewer customers are choosing to use it. Because of this, your phone service will be disconnected on 29/06/2026. Your internet service won't change but, if you still need a phone service and would like to keep your current number, you'll need to move to another provider before that date.
…If you want to keep your phone service and/or number:
- Find a new phone (VoIP) provider and place a request for a new service with them. You can transfer your existing number or set up a new one
- This process can take up to 15 days, so make sure you give your new provider enough time to get you connected before 29/06/2026. You won't be able to transfer your number once it's been disconnected
- Don't cancel your Origin phone service if you are planning to transfer your number. Your new provider will manage your disconnection with us.
Do I look for a new NBN provider or go with one of those VOIP specialist providers? (Need a landline for work).

Keep Origin nbn if you are on a 6 month deal.
Change nbn provider if you are paying Origin's full price.
Change to Siptalk or Crazytel for VoIP.
