    So $84

Still need to beat Returnal. I have it on pc and last I tried it would crash half the time, and with that game, it ain’t the best when it crashes.

    • +5

I really tried to get into returnal. I dunno why but it didn't catch me like other rogue lites. Very pretty game, and I got to the end of the 3rd biome, but it just wasn't as fun as others I've played.

      • That's unfortunate! Do Target sell PCs?

    • +1

      Returnal Recrashes

      • +2

The ironic part is, it starts with the ship crashing every time.

    • +1

It's crazy that Returnal is still full price on Steam. No wonder Sony is stepping away from PC.

      • +2

Under $30 aud regularly for the last 6 months. Under $40 for last 18 months. Pretty reasonable pricing I guess.

    • I couldn't play returnal, too complex for me

      • It's not for you if you never played shmups.

  • I don't think it'll be better than Returnal but only 1 way to find out. I'll be price matching with EB and picking up this game during my lunch break.

    Enjoy the bullet hell!

Shouldn't delivery be free for this?

Don't forget to do a gift card for an extra X% off.

Looking forward to this, loved Returnal and should just be a similar game.

    • Which GC?

  • Not clear whether the story is a continuation of returnal, same universe completely different story, or different universe & story?

    • From the SkillUp review I watched it is set in the same universe and follows on from Returnal but with new characters. He said it is essentially Returnal 2.
I didn't finish Returnal so not sure what happened to the protagonist there.

      • I watched that review. He never said it was a continuation. He said it was Returnal 2 because it's an evolution of everything Returnal did but isn't at all related in story.

    • +1

It's a different universe/story, just same game mechanic.

To be honest though, the story is irrelevant. I can't remember a single thing from Returnal and it made little sense. Don't expect much from Saros either - just keen on the gameplay.

    • Not a sequel or continuation of story, maybe same universe tho? I'm guessing there may be an easter egg or two at most.

Similar gameplay but apparently much more accessible/less punishing roguelike than Returnal (eg has an optional noob friendly mode making it a 25h 3/10 difficulty platinum apparently, where as Returnal was more like 40-50h and 6/10)

    • +1

      Why?

      • +8

Because the main character isn't white of course!

    • +5

your username plus your comment tells me that you're not interested in the game at all and you are probably just a troll

Lead has an Aussie accent, you cant appreciate that?

    HODL

will price drop in a few months

    • If its anything like returnal the FB marketplace side of things will be alive with resales too

      • Returnal is free on Playstation Plus, so unless Saros comes on free there can't imagine it being that populated there.

        • I was referring to the initial release window of players that got frustrated with Returnals difficulty after release and tried to offload it (although Saros is reviewed to be more accessible in that regard)

    • Less likely on the Sony flagship titles.

Best strat is a Marketplace reseller a week or two post release, then resell yourself. You'll only shave $10-20 off RRP, so decide if that premium is worth the Day-1 new game smell.

      • wym their titles go on sale pretty quick

    • +1

The flagships haven't been as quick to drop lately. Plenty of older releases that I've been waiting to drop hovering at pretty high prices.

Returnal dropped a fair bit because it's literally free with Playstation Plus… no point keeping the physical copy if you can play it for free.

Housemarque are such talented devs and IMO the most gameplay-centric triple AAA dev going around. I poured 40 hours into Returnal and even though I couldn’t get passed that darn level 3, it’s easily some of the best gameplay I’ve experienced on my PS5 since launch. It also makes the best use of the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback of the dualsense outside of Astrobot. The way they have brought their arcadey shmup roots to 3D is seamless. I bought this game day one and I hope it sells enough for them to continue what they do. But my fear is Sony will close them down because it didn’t sell 10 million plus units

At the risk of sounding like some kind of hipster, I like their old stuff better than their new stuff. Returnal was OK, but it didn't have the magic of some of their previous games. I loved (and still love) their games like Super Stardust HD, Resogun, Nex Machina etc that took classic arcade games and gave them a modern coat of polish in both gameplay and presentation. But I understand why they've made this shift - while I might love those modern takes on classic arcade games, that's probably a bit too niche to pay the bills these days.

I think they're a relatively small studio in terms of headcount (certainly compared to some of Sony's other first party devs), and I suspect the roguelike structure of these games also helps keep costs down as there's a lot of repetition so not as much content needing to be made. Hopefully that means they don't need to sell as many copies as others to meet whatever their pass mark is set at. I'm gutted Sony shut down BluePoint, I'll be just as gutted if they do the same to Housemarque.

        Amen.

Resogun is what made me sit-up and notice Housemarque as a game developer.

That game is pure magic. The chain combo/ score gameplay, the music, the graphics, the effortless playability…it had it all.

Resogun was so addictive, it took me through the PS4’s launch and its early days for a long time before anything else worthwhile to play showed up in PS4’s life.

  • Serves me right for ordering from amazon who wont deliver til sunday for some reason.

    • Cancel order?

      • too late

    • I can't even see it on Amazon

    • Return it, buy elsewhere

Refuse delivery if you see worried it's a hassle to return it

      • +1

How do you refuse an Amazon delivery? Usually they they just throw the package at your front door from the moving car as they go past and call it delivered.

        • +1

Ahh, works better when they ask for pin or sig.

I guess paying for the auspost parcel it is

  • GOTY material. This game has amazing reviews.

  • Still playing Pragmata. Hopefully there are some deals in a few weeks.

  • -5

it's basically faster paced returnal, nothing special other than that

  • +3

Returnal was IMHO the best PS5 game up until 2025 at least and everybody I know who has played the game has it in their top 5.
Earlier reviews rate Soros better than Returnal. Look like I will have to dust of the PS5 and get gaming again.

  • +5

Just cause you were asking… Yes I have a platinum trophy for returnal. I don't like to talk about it though.

  • Online site says no Stock in the 3 stores around me. Anyone else getting same problem of no stock?

  • I preordered this game on Amazon in December but it says no stock?

Anyone else preorder or order from Amazon?
