Hey OzBargain!

Our last seconds stock deal was extremely popular, clearing us out in less than 3 hours. Having just restocked the HZ.01 Everyday, I've come across a few more HZ.01 Everyday seconds, which have now been restocked on our outlet - only accessible via this link posted on OzBargain.

These pieces have minor cosmetic defects, such as small markings on the case or dials, but are otherwise operationally perfect. In most cases, these imperfections are difficult to notice during normal wear - but because they didn't meet our strict QC standards, I never felt comfortable listing them.

The newest addition to the outlet is a small batch of our HZ.03 Blue Marbles with lacquer enamel dials. All of these pieces are brand new, and are not seconds stock. I've decided to make some room for new releases, and with this line of the HZ.03 being discontinued, I'm releasing the final pieces from this production run at a discounted price. Once these are gone, they won't be restocked.

Important info:

  • Free domestic express shipping (next business day dispatch)
  • All watches sold through the seconds store are covered by our 2-year manufacturer warranty for any operational defects
  • Pickup available from our Collins St showroom in Melbourne

As always, happy to answer any questions, and I really appreciate the continued support.

Matt

  • Nice one Matt. Love the brand.

      Thank you!

  • Hi Matt, is there a way to request a particular defect? Sorry for the weird question, just wondering if it's possible to request a case defect rather than a dial defect. Thanks

    • +1

Yes - most definitely! Which model are you after? I can do a quick check now and confirm

      • I was going to order the the HZ.01 EVERYDAY - BLACK. Cheers

        • Just had a look for you, we've got 2 remaining - unfortunately both are slight dial defects. Both are very minor, one has slight excess glue at the 5, noticeable if held up close to your eyes and under good lighting, and the other has a faint spot at 9 where slightly too much superluminova was applied (this one is only noticeable under loupe).

          • @Hz Watches: Thank you, I've just placed an order. I'll shoot you a message :)

            • @S3ISOR: Thanks for the support! I'll keep an eye out for the message and can set aside the one you choose to go for

  • Hi Matt, I placed an order. Can I pickup from your store please?

    • +1

Most definitely! Drop me an email with your order number and I'll arrange to have it ready for you at WatchPoint. We're on Level 2 of the Manchester Unity Building on Collins/Swanston St

  • I have rarely worn watches. Is this a good starting watch or should i go with seiko?

Welcome to the rabbit hole of watch collecting! As the designer and owner, I probably am a bit biased, but I'll try answer as best I can as a watch collector.

TLDR: Honestly, you can't go wrong with either.

For the purposes of this, I'm going to define "starting watch" as under $500. When looking at what to buy, the first place I would start is understanding whether quartz or automatic is more suited to what you are looking for. Both mechanical and quartz have their ups and downs, and I'm in no place to decide for you which one is best for you - with that being said I think the perfect watch collection consists of both quartz and mechanical watches.

From there, I'd look at the following brands to understand what styles/designs you like. Seiko, Citizen, Orient, G-Shock, Casio, Timex are the first brands of the bigger brands I'd look at in this budget. If you wanted an automatic, I'd look at Seiko 5, or a Citizen Tsuyosa. For quartz, citizen eco-drives, and the casio MDV range are my personal picks.

From the microbrand side (independent operated brands like us at Hz), there aren't as many in that budget, but it's worth taking a look at some brands like: RZE (UTD-8000), Lima, Vario. There are some great Aussie microbrands just a bit above this budget that are also worth looking at (Second Hour, Galvin, Bausele).

Best piece of advice I can give is don't buy a watch because someone else says it's good - the best starting watch is one where you like the design and it is something you will actually wear and appreciate.

      • Note on the RZE UTD-8000-GR, the date is fixed in US format from what I've read in reviews.
Not an obvious factor until you're an Aussie and switch watches with different formats.

  • Hi Matt, I just placed an order for a Lunar New Year. Any way I can choose my defect like the guy above?

    • +1

Thank you for the support! Most definitely, please drop me an email or a message and happy to arrange!

  • +1

Any automatic models on the horizon?

    • +1

Unfortunately not with Hz, we'll remain a quartz focused brand - however I do have some exciting plans to be relaunching an extinct watch brand later this year, which will give me a fun platform to start designing with mechanical movements as well.

  • Just bought the burgundy! I’ll email you

    • +1

Thank you for the support! I'll keep an eye out for it

      • Being eyeing off your hz1 burgundy for a little while so looking forward to seeing it in the flesh!

      • Hey mate can you let me know if you got my email?

  • Received my Adventurine Blue Marble the other day and really like it. Had to swap the strap out for a Milanese bracelet but otherwise really like it. It sparkles in the sunshine like nothing else! Look forward to seeing what you have next in store.

    • Thank you for the support! Lots of exciting things in development.

  • Hi Matt any more HZ.01 EVERYDAY - BLACK in stock? Just missed out is seems :((

    • Unfortunately that's all of the Black for this round, with the next 01 restock around October, I'd assume I find a few seconds pieces that don't pass QC around the last few months of 2026

      • All good, got the next best colour - Blue. Thanks for the deal.

    Hi Matt,

Are you able to tell me what the defects are on the HZ.01 EVERYDAY - GREEN?

    Thank you!

    • Most definitely! Most of the defects are either slight scratches on the case between the lugs, or excess glue beneath the sector ring / excess superluminova, which is only visible from very close/under loupe. Hope this helps!

whats good about this ? solar?

    • These aren't solar, but if you have any specific questions about our watches, always happy to answer them! A lot of YouTube watch reviewers have done reviews on our watches which are worth a watch

  • If any more of the everyday green show up, I’d love to get one. Seems I missed out while thinking about it.

    • Ah unfortunately that's it for now - hoping to restock the 01s in late 2026.

  • Hey Matt, big fan, picked up one of the Green HZ.01 back during the original release. Have ordered a Blue HZ.03. If possible, would love to pick the defect like some others in this thread. Cheers!

    • Thanks Jimmy! The HZ.03s don't actually have any defects to them, they're just the final run of this model, so I decided to move a few of them to make room for what's coming next!

      • Oh amazing, I missed that in the text of the post! Very excited!

Whats the difference between HZ.01 and HZ.03? Just checking to see if its worth paying extra.

    • Mostly comes down to the design! Both are titanium, with sapphire crystals. The HZ.01 uses a swiss ronda movement, and the HZ.03 uses a japanese seiko movement. The HZ.03s have a lacquer enamel dial, and a transparent disc at 6 as the seconds hand.

  • Please check your messages

  • Hi, what defects are on the HZ.01 Burgundy watches?

  • Hi Matt,
It's great for the watch aficionados on OB that you have a few cheaper seconds/ not-up-to-your-high-standards watches for sale, but why is your supplier sending them out to you in the first place if they're sub-standard? Doesn't sound like their quality control is all it should be.

  • Do you offer free battery replacement on your watches if brought to your store?

  • Hi I tried to contact you through multiple ways and wasn't able to reach and my order has been shipped. Can you please get back to me?

I'll like to order more but I'm hesitant

  • My wife ordered this for my birthday on the 6th of May (my birthday was on the 12th). It's Friday 15th and the other hasn't moved and there's no further update.

She ordered the HZ.03 Blue Marble.
