Looks like this is a lightning sale so not sure how long will this last. Good price for current market conditions. Might be helpful for some.

    • Think op got the Amazon Germany one ? listed at the exact same price

      • yes the Germany one. Still showing the price posted.

  • +17

This time last year the listing was $80 .. FOL

    • +3

Just verified that through 3xcamel. Even $100 for this same kit is a bargain basement price.

    • PC hardware companies: it's out time to get rice.

    Always try facebook marketplace too.

Heaps of people in my town selling 16gb ddr4 for $80-$90.
I just checked now and someones selling 32GB ddr4 for $140.

    • +1

How do I avoid scams on FB marketplace?

      • +6

        pick up with cash only

        • +4

and bring a portable battery with a pc and monitor to test the ram on the spot.

          • @Jaduqimon: I have a laptop I could bring. Is there a cheapish memory module tester I could use to hook it up to my laptop?

    • I find 8g sticks on FBMP is cheap/reasonable, but still there is some sods trying to sell their 5 year old used RAM for 4x what they paid
Pain point is in 16g sticks though so OP isn't terrible imho. I'm still not shooting though, $500 for 64g…yuck

    • OzB forums got me this kit for $70 six mths ago :) Thanks syba, still going strong

    • Agreed, that's a bullshit price. I've bought 2 kits of this ram on Marketplace recently both were under $150.

DDR4 didn't go up to the extent of DDR5 (one of the reasons I recently built a new AM4 gaming system)

  • AM4…out the door….it's crazy.

  • +6

Paid $152 for this last year and I still think I overpaid

    • Definitely. I paid $164 for 64gb (2x32gb) RAM in Jan 2025. I want a second kit and refuse to pay more! :(

  • +2

Got a 32gb DDR5 this month April 2025 from Facebook marketplace for $250, cuz the seller need to leave the country soon.
Passed the MemTest64 on site before purchase.
    6000Mhz - CL38.

    • +3

Jeeze, how long does Memtest64 take.

      • +2

Pretty sure it's overnight, also need to test sticks individually 💀

      • +1

Depends on several factors, but quick one takes like 15-30 mins.
You should def let them run overnight to be sure by default, especially if you want to over clock.
But since this is for a sale, I told the guy to start the test before I hopped on the train from the Central Coast.
The 2 RAM sticks passed 2 loops by the time I got there for the sale in the Gong.

'cuz the seller need to leave the country soon.'

fair play for memtesting, I'd be suspicious asf, ram isn't exactly hard to carry and sell in landed destination 🤣

      • +1

Yeah, but taking an entire PC is a pain. Prob just selling parts

  • Its so hard to believe on Amazon in 2024 I paid $84 bucks for the same ram, and 2 years later its 3 times more for a ddr4

Boy, am I glad I build my PC before the RAM prices skyrocketed.

  • +1

$468 is not the RRP, that's the bs AI data centre inflated price.

    • +1

agreed. but thats what amazon is showing. rrp in this sad inflated AI priced world

      • Oh yeah I should mention, not having a go at you. Just venting!

        • i didnt think you were mate. i too am quite bitter about these prices. i was luck to build a couple of home servers before the price rise and now i cant find it in me to pay such exorbitant rates for RAM and SSD. holding on from upgrading. looking for a future with more reasonable prices. glad the AI bubble is bursting to some extent.

  • yep bought that same item 1st May 2025 for $84. yikes.

  • $71 in September '23. Wish I'd just purchased two at the time.

  • Look like the ones I bought 2 for $140 back then

  • +3

Wow still available. Proud of everyone for not falling for these ridiculous prices. Hopefully prices come back to normal levels soon!

    • Why'd you upvote the post if you knew the price is ridiculous? Thats odd..

      • +1

The price is ridiculous for what it is, but it is a bargain in the current market conditions. There are still a few of us who may be looking at purchasing RAM and this deal might help save them a few dollars. Sadly not everyone has the luxury of waiting it out.

        • You upvoted the post because it's a "bargain in the current market conditions".
But congratulated everyone for "not falling for these ridiculous prices".

          okay bro :)

  • +1

I got these exact stick in october 2020 for $180. 6 years later we r here.. damn

  • aside from having to slots free - if you are only needing 32GB is using 4 sticks of 8GB detrimental?

    • It's actually a good thing on DDR4 systems, if I remember correctly. Slightly better performance using all 4 slots due to memory bank interleaving.

  • Can’t believe I literally binned 2x8gb sticks of these only a couple of years ago
