Thanks for the helpful review

Get a 3.5mm aux Bluetooth dongle used for in-flight audio - use when travelling too ;)

Alas, for my interests it’s about getting a zero latency for music production play but most Bluetooth speakers with an aux port tend to have inbuilt processing that lags it anyway

I bought from the last deal, love the thing. The lightning effects on the side give it some wow factor in a group setting and can cycle through, and yeah, obviously in this price range the sound is far louder and cleaner than the sub <$100 range. bass boost, charging post, even the carrying strap thing built into the orange strip is smartly designed
if I really had to search for a negative its 1.2kg in weight, but its packing a punch so comes with the territory
disclaimer that im also a Xioami fanboy at this point (miband, 15T pro, mouse, air purifier, fking toothbrush). they just do shit right at a good price, inb4 'CCP fanboy' or whatever people say when a Xioami deal is posted. go buy the aus made bluetooth speaker

curious about the toothbrush - where do you get replacement heads?

Aliexpress has heaps and genuine ones too

Nah xiaomi stuff has had great quality control with no defects in my Dreame vacuum for years until I lost it.

Yep. First Chinese brand that I assigned 'good brand' to in my head.

That was nitecore for me. Great quality torches and chargers. Made in China has definitely changed over the decades. It used to be a mark of inferiority, now it can be a mark of quality. Clothes made in China now I've also found now to be a sign of decent quality compared to the poorer Asian countries.

Didn't even know nitecore was Chinese but also a fan. I'll add mercer cooking knives to the list. Dirt cheap and better than expensive normal brands.
Needs a poll.

🎧 wired were/ are good.

I hate how hard Amazon make it to find dimensions for things like this. Is it 20cm long? 50? This is rhetorical.

just measured mine, its 25.5cm long
edit: not sure where you're having trouble, the dimensions are listed on the amazon page under measurements section -
Item Dimensions D x W x H 25.5D x 9.2W x 9.2H centimetres
Just measured mine, it's 12"

Pics for proof?

Yeah. It's just buried (below so much other less relevant stuff). 3/4 of the way down the page, then swipe across multiple times etc.
One of the images could have easily had the dimensions, especially given one implies it is larger than a ukulele!

Does anyone have both Xiaomi Speaker Outdoor and this? I have the Outdoor which is decent and wonder how they compare.

I've dropped my UE Boom2 multiple times and it's still going strong. Would this be as robust?

bought one. thanks

Any recommendations for a shower speaker under $100? My Nest Mini seems to be getting dumber every day, and I want to switch to a regular speaker (with a headphone jack too, if possible).

I got this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/954774 from the deal posted a few weeks ago and I love it. Amazing sound quality. If you live near an officeworks that has one this is a great deal.

Is it better than JBL or Bose for an outdoor BBQ area? If yes, I’ll take it

I don't think the sound quality be any near Bose, i can't comment on JBL

How does this compare to the JBL charge series?

Yes want to know too

$93.32 on Business Prime if you have a prime business account. Not sure why it gives a discount doesn't even say it. You need to get to checkout for the final price to display.

Finally a 50w speaker deal, been a while since decent Bluetooth speakers have been posted…
Miss the ~$50 tronsmart ones
Edit: This is mono it appears? A woofer + tweeter, keep that in mind if the music you play is poorly mastered. It does support “TWS Mode” where two speakers work as left and right though according to the listing. Not major, most songs are mastered to downmix fine to mono.

Picked this up month ago, packs a punch for its size. Great party speakers and handy bluetooth speakers for PC. Bluetooth really responsive, easy to pair and respond to multiple devices.

Been using this for 6 months as my van speaker:
+ Great for small spaces, nice clean bass
+ If I unplug and forget to charge again it lasts for hours at max volume (maybe like a week of short drives)
- My iPhone SE 3rd Gen doesn’t auto connect, I have to tap the Connect button on speaker and then choose it from my bluetooth list every time I turn it on, not sure if there’s a solve for that / if a newer phone be more compatible to auto connect
- Missing a 3.5mm aux port, wish it had one
