Yeah, only use these for charging. I checked my phone and the charging rate is 25w so that's all these cables are good for

I have some cables that got mixed up and would like to work out which are the data cables and what are the charging cables, and which are the fast charging cables.
Trial and error method. Perhaps the thicker the better

I have current model Samsung tablet with usb c that only transfers at usb2 speeds. It looks like usb c standard only mandates the physical connection??
Yeah pretty much.
That is exactly what USC-C is. There are minimums, but they are set very low.
480 mbps is actually USB 2 speed.
