    (3a) Lite

ridiculous naming scheme lol. so 3a Lite is a budget version of 3a which is a budget version of 3a Pro which is the midrange variant of the 3? but by that time it has almost been a year so the budgetest version has some newer specs than the… and wait there's also 4a and 4a Pro but no 4 yet even though 3 released before 3a … carl I love you but what are you doing 😭

    • +3

And none of them have a headphone jack!

    • Don't buy nothing phone. You don't have to figure all this out. Lol

    • (3a) lite - mini

Is this definitely supported on Australian networks?

    • Yeah want to know this too, no point buying then within few months service wont work anymore, otherwise lots of overseas good phones to choose from!

I've never had a problem with phones from China, that wasn't caused by me. Saying that it's just a count down until my phone stop working for some stupid reason.

        • Thx! good to know, as something like RedMagic etc got some pretty nice phones, need to get one for son to replace his very old motorola.

          • +3

@kaikor: Just to add: phones from china work well overall, but some apps can be hit and miss. For example, I’ve seen people say Google Wallet and Android Auto don’t always work properly. On my previous phone, Wallet worked fine, but on this new one I’m not sure if it’s me or the device.

Another thing to consider is repairs, if you break the phone, you’ll likely have to pay out of pocket to fix it. That said, you’re saving a significant amount upfront, so even if something does go wrong, you’ll still usually come out ahead financially.

It’s also worth checking prices on JD and Pinduoduo, they often have some of the best deals.

I REALLLLLLLLYYYYYYYY wish; nothing phones came with Wireless charging, for me its kinda a deal breaker. I know its a first world problem, but with Wireless Android Auto, newer cars, can legit just placed on the pad and drive and not worry about it. Instead I gotta plug in :S - Just silly, even if its a trickle, at least it doesnt drain in the car whilst driving

    • Nothing phone 3 has wireless charging

Can we claim VAT on purchases from AliExpress?

    • VAT or GST?

    • +2

GST yes, but you must download the invoice with their ATO assigned number prior to delivery. Sometime after the generated invoice disappears.

Important to note you can't do TRS due to AliExpress not having an ABN.

  • +2

No, you cant claim VAT as there is no VAT in Australia.

  • Everytime I click on link which belongs to AliExpress it took to main page into AliExpress app instead of to the actual deal. Any solution to this issue would be appreciated 🙏

    • Try the back button if on a mobile phone. Otherwise, good luck!

I got the Nothing Phone 2a+ and in all honesty its the worst phone I've had, and I've had 3 Xiaomi's & a Huawei. (After HTC & Samsung's).

Before it was even a year old it was crashing and rebooting from overheating while in pocket, freezing and slowdowns.

I never ever got the advertised 50W charge on any PD charger, even on a 33W charger it will be lucky to get 17W charge, slowest phone to charge in 10 years since the pre-USBC days. I've used a tester dongle to test it on a 33w Anker, 65w Anker & 100w charger and none of them could give more than 17w.

It often doesn't recognize a USBC cable until I adjust it. There is nothing visibly wrong with it and it hasn't been damaged. I have attempted a warranty RMA multiple times, first time within first year and then within 2yrs and they ignore every attempt with an email telling me they'll get back to me before ghosting.

Absolute rubbish company, terrible phones, this is from the creator of OnePlus, it's all gimmick and little substance.

I bought from JB HiFi who told me to deal with the manufacturer, so unless I want to take them to VCAT I'm A$649 out for an absolutely miserable phone.

    • Isn't it easier to lodge a complaint on accc?

      • I should but I'm too lazy for that, ACCC doesn't handle complaints on an individual basis, it catalogues complaints for if there are enough nationwide for legal action. Nothing will likely never be effected this way.

Alternatively I can lodge with Victorian Consumer Affairs, but the end result is all they can do is refer to VCAT.

        • What s headache, I thought we had strong consumer laws. 🤦

        • +1

Ingram Micro are the distributor for Nothing in Australia. Typically they only talk to their resellers like JB, but you're welcome to try them.

  • I am told all low price chines phone does not have Esim considering that we need to use Esim when travelling and to keep cheap phone option in case it get lost.

I bought the CMF Phone 2 by Nothing and I absolutely love it; if you’re keen to ditch iPhone or Samsung, Nothing is honestly the best bit of kit you can jump to
