  • Do you need a pressure washer to use one of these or garden hose?

    • +2

It needs pressure to create the foam :)

    • Bunnings sell a version for standard garden hose, pressure washer for this one and expect it foams better

    • +2

Yeah you do. They have adapters for others, check the description section but generally speaking you'll want a pressure washer for snow foam style washing. A standard hose can be used with some kits (can be found online). But unless you have amazing water pressure from the mains it doesn't really foam up well.

      Ive tried:

      • new hose nozzle for a stronger clean pre buying a pressure washer
      • foamer with standard hose
      • pressure washer
      • pressure washer snow foam

Imo, snow foam is fun, but isn't really that amazing for proper cleaning. And doesn't really save you time UNLESS you also have a deionised water filter.. Making a touchless wash easier to let it drip dry

Otherwise - Pressure washer pre rinse, two bucket method, pressure washer post rinse, big twist loop microfibre towel for drying. Is honestly most effective and just as quick really in my experience. (again excluding deionised)

A handheld blower like the wolfbox ones is good for getting some water out of things like number plates, side mirrors, etc though otherwise you'll be constantly just walking around re drying the same spots as they drip down lol.

      • Definitely not a time saver (don't use it as a replacement for a proper wash) but the foam helps with pre rinse.

Also if you have a decent blower like an ego or other 48v it's worth buying a stubby attachment to dry 99% of the car, then you only need a small microfiber to mop up the few drips and/or the door jambs.

Yeah I have a bigboi buddi jr (horrible name) and I use it to push things out of crevices mostly. Then use a like 1m long twisted loop just drag it over everything and it does the rest.

          • @ReaperX22: Love my BigBoi WashR.

The buddi Jnr I got for $49 a while back, but also have the BlowR Mini and use that one for whole car

            • @Spending2Much: Ha nice. Yeah I've got the previous model.. Washr flo? I think it is. I'm not a detailer just use it every couple of weeks or so. Does the job!

Ooo nice price. I got it for like 99. But yeah in hindsight I should've gotten a mini with a longer hose. The jr gets heavy to hold.. So I really only do it to get like clumps of water off the roof and flat areas, plus nooks etc. Then finish with the towel.. I tried full car drying it once and never again.. Even with the optional hose thingy it's just not strong enough!

I've had one for I think 7+ years and it still looks brand new. Really high quality. I recommend getting quick connects so you can easily switch between this and your nozzles.

    Great deal, thanks OP!

I have one of these & the top of the bottle broke so did a friends, Common problem if you google it.

    • +2

      The threaded part?
You can buy replacement bottles under $20 with the Repco deal

I've had mine for probably 10 years, it's more durable than others that I've had, just wish it had a wider mouth on it

      • I have had one for 7 years with no problem too. Also got the Autoglgym one and do appreciate how much easier it with the bigger mouth.

Just ordered another one of these so can have prewash, wash, and sealant all in separate cannons. Added another drying towel too.

    • Yup, same, flimsy around the neck.

    • Yep happended to mine as well.

Naive me thought this was an actual snow cannon … for backyard … snow? 😅

    • Same here, what did you do? Mines over 5 years old and slowly broke down and now unusable.

      • On a Bowden's cannon? What broke down on it? It's common for the aerator inside to get clogged over time. Can take it apart to confirm.
If you email them, they'll send you replacements or they do offer a cleaning/overhaul service

        • Replied to the wrong comment. It’s the thread on the top of the bottle that broke apart and can’t use anymore.

          • +1

@Rocket: Ah. See my other comment, you can get a replacement bottle

  • Do I need both the cannot kit and the Bowden's Own Mega Snow Job 1L?

Can I just use the Bowden's Own Mega Snow Job 1L with any pressure washer? I have a Bosch pressure washer

    • +2

Mega Snow Job is just the liquid. If you want to produce foam, it needs to be applied with a cannon (whether that is the Bowden's one or another brand is up to you)

      • Thanks understood!

  • +2

This foam Canon is fine but I'd recommend the newer style with the wider opening.
Pouring soap in and cleaning much easier.
Also short and wider base so it doesn't tip over as easily.
On alie for $20 with different fitting options.

      Link?

      • +3

Hmm not sure why alie links are getting blocked. Look up bear force snow cannon

        • +5

Plus one for bear force! Looks to be a mjjc copy. Just got myself another one for $13.

          • @camerongb: Just wondering if you guys recommend the green 'upgraded' ones for 30 bucks or the regular red tipped ones for 25ish? Thanks heaps

            • +1

@IslandBreeze: Not sure, mines red haha wide mouth and has a metal end on the pickup tube. Its awesome quality for the price!

              • @camerongb: I'm glad to hear it that's what the picture of the one I got coming looks like! Cheers mate. Do you find the bowdens snow job works well with it or do you use something else?

                • @IslandBreeze: I also use a lamington in my spare hand to help maintain equilibrium and balance my Bowdens watering hand when using mine.

But I can’t say scientifically that it works any better than the traditional lamington-free model…

Thanks OP, grabbed one and a few bottles of the Mega Snow Job, also half price.

  • It's a great cannon. I had a cheapie that came with the pressure washer which was sad. But the Bowden's Own is awesome.

    • My 1st time buying a cannon. I use multiple Bowden's products & am impressed by their customer support having reached out to them for guidance, also their FB page is full of support from Bowden's staff.

Thanks op, perfect timing for me!
