I miss their chicken steaks they used to sell in the supermarkets so much , they were absolutely scrumptious 10/10

    • +1

I miss the 1kg chicken pieces packs they stopped selling at Christmas. Used to by a few when on half price special Coles woollies. Better than KFC.

      • +2

Aww man, they stopped selling them? I was just waiting for them to be half price again.

    • Woollies still sell the uncrumbed tegel takeouts chicken steaks.

  • +3

64% chicken, definitely on the higher end for Coles pre crumbed, but I'd prefer 70-80%.

    • +14

almost all frozen chicken tenders are made from processed formed chicken breast, it's 70=80% of chicken breast offcuts minced up. This is an actual crumbed tenderloin, you only get 2 per chicken, will always be more expensive. The cheap tenders are required to have the label warning 'formed meat' on the back so easy to work out what you're buying

      What's your pick?

        • +8

Yours are #1 and that's the only number that we need

          • +2

            @visitorsonlyparking: Dinner at JV's house?

            • +1

@Merlict: Get yourself on the waiting list to attend the goat sacrifice and you might be able to have dinner at jv’s.
I still think jv’s goat curry is the best I’ve tried.

Is yours up for sale? Then it can’t be best frozen chicken you can buy

        • Recipe?

          • -1

            @carrawa:

            Recipe?

            Yes, of course…

      • The Costco flaming hot frozen ones are great, decent price, good chicken %, and tastes like real not 'formed' chicken.

Similar price per kg to this deal I think ?

  • +2

It was better when they did 1kg of chicken pieces but then the price got out of control.

May be Coles out priced them with their own version.

    • Damn they don’t do those any more? I loved those, especially the spicy ones

    • I thought maybe Costco still did them - nope. Didn't have the tenders anymore.

    • +1

I want to know why they discontinued the 1kg packs

  • +1

The buttermilk tenders from Tegels are insane, taste and texture is so good.

    • +1

I agree, prefer the buttermilk tenders or even karaage to these now

      • +2

They are on special this week so grab some before Wednesday if you’d like

    • +1

      Tried the karaage recently.

      I found them super salty.

Just bought the buttermilk on your advice.

      Will try some this week.

Missus also rates these really high. I think they're fine, I like all these garbage things, but she is very particular, so when she likes 'em, they're usually half decent. I'd recommend tbh.

  • +9

Why so many positive votes when it's not even half price

  • +3

    Used to be $7

    • And the $14 price tag used to be for the 1kg package, which was gone from the shelves since many moons ago. Why the items with more value per $ not sold anymore??

      • +1

Millionth comment not understanding 1kg pack was bone in.

I bought well over 500 nashville packs for personal airfried consumption over 3-4 years, (which helped me tremendously from a weight/ body fat perspective).

The bone in packs i couldn't eat a piece of - completely different product and taste…and around 35% inedible product by mass according to tegel.

        • So, they charge you the price of 1kg for 65%?

The real question is how pumped with brine etc are they and what percent of consumable meat their is minus these parts say per chicken?

The dog liked the bones. Win win … And the chicken.

  • These are unreal.. I make my own stacker combos

  • +2

Is there a flavour of these that doesn’t taste like licking straight salt?

  • Excellent. I just moved and bought a new freezer I have all to myself. Gonna fill it up. I freakin love these things. Thanks OP.

  • Anyone know where you can tenders like the ones at Costco food section? They're actual whole tenderloins.

    • Costco perhaps?

      • I don't think they sell them in the freezers from what I can see, hence where can I find something similar

    • +1

sorry, never had the Costco ones - but the fresh Southern Fried Tenders from Coles fridges are da best IMHO - 71% chook - they are $8/400g

      • thanks will give them a try, they're not processed and spongey right?

        • +1

Yup, they're all different shapes in the pack - not uniformly processed. I air fry oven them for slightly longer than it says. I like the crunch

    • +1

You mean the ones the sell in the food court? Those are really good but when I asked, told they don't sell them in packages in warehouse.

      • Yeah those ones!

  • -3

    Stay safe, and enjoy 🐓🤗

Is there something unsafe about this chicken we should know about? Why do we need to "Stay safe"?

  • +3

Never thought I’d feel hungry scrolling through Oz bargain 🤣

  • +1

Already completely sold out at my local Coles at 5pm on the first day. Crazy.

  • whats difference lousiana v nashville ?

    • +1

      Nashville is spicy.

  • +1

Are these whole chicken tenders or are they the "reconsituted" ones squeezed into the shape ?

    • +1

They are breast chicken, not processed.

    • +2

I got two packets this week. Put one piece aside and soaked until coating was removed because like you I was curious as to their tenderloin claims………I can confirm…….These are made from 100% Tenderloin. Don't forget, these are a NZ product and you cannot make false claims as to the ingredients…BIG FINES.

      • Thank you guys. I picked up 2 bags and they were good. It seems like the demand is really there and local companies generally aren't meeting it. If you like spicy then I also reccomend Ingham’s Devil Boneless Wyngz as they are complete breast with a spicy zinger type (hot for a zinger) taste.
