TV Died - New One This Week - 2k-Ish Budget

help me please.

old tv died, looking to replace by this weekend. one that died was hisense 65 q8 2021ish i think.

one option: https://www.harveynorman.com.au/hisense-75-inch-u8qau-4k-ule…

Also have access to jb/gg commercial via my super-fund - open to suggestions.

  • 65/75'
  • already own sound bar
  • about 3m from tv (wall mounted)
  • have existing googleTV unit - so dont really care about inbuilt apps.
  • 3/4 inputs is more than enough. switch/pc/googletv/hdmiarc-soundbar

not really fussed on the rest.

what should i care about? what others are competitive in that space/price range?

LG 65" C5 OLED clearance - $2578 from JB HiFi, maybe cheaper with commercial.

Has been cheaper recently (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/956691 ) but either way, your eyes will thank me.

This was recommended to me but couldn't see any active deals and gone from commercial sites now. Only on retail

    • Pssh of course I bought it for around that price and then IMMEDIATELY it starts going for around ~$2100, typical! Excellent TV, though, i like it so much

The OzB favourite of TCL 75" C8K is a good option. Worth checking local stores as they're clearing out last year's display stock too (JB has 30% off display stock).

This was an option but someone said TCL and slow boot/firmware bugs.

      • +1

No issue with mine - I've even updated the firmware via usb. C8K is a fantastic TV and I think most of Ozb will agree

    Could argue ACL

Not sure why this was downvoted. The average life expectancy of a TV is 7-8 years. If anything it's worth an email. OP might just want a new tv though.

i did argue ACL on a recent dead Hisense just outside the 3 year warranty by a month or two and got it repaired but no sound then they gave me a new one, took three weeks

    what should i care about?

    OLED

  • Moving on so soon. Heartless.

  • Bongoman beware of Hisense tvs . I purchased a 75 inch late January from HN and couldn't get a couple of channels no matter what I did.
I talked to HN about the problem and they suggested a firmware upgrade may fix the problem (still waiting to hear back)
I had new antenna installed and all the wiring checked 100 %
I eventually called Hisense and went through everything with them.
In the end they told me I had the latest firmware, and nothing could be done, saying it was most likely a channel problem which I thought was crap because I also have a samung with all the channels

    • Bought a brand new Hisense when i moved in to my house 10 years ago still working no issues
