  • so essentially the $300 Boost deal is 300gb the previous activation by 4 May to get a bonus circa 50gb has been replaced by this to get 55gb bonus

  • Does it support incoming SMS whilst overseas?

    • Having used Boost overseas, I can confirm you can receive SMS. For sending you definitely need a roaming pack.

    • Absolutely. Used it in Europe and Asia, no issues receiving SMS. Was able to use WiFi calling in Thailand to call my bank to let them know I left my bank card in an ATM (had been a long day…)

  • Boost customer care can claridy this or if anyone has used this overseas and recevied sms or OTP message can share their experience.
    Thanks

    • Their chatbot just tried to sell me a roaming pack.

I was passed to a person who gave me a contradictory answer which did not address the question. Does not inspire confidence to sign up with them.

There is no mention in their critical information summary either.

      After pushing, I got this:

      1. When you are roaming, you will not receive texts or calls. You will need to recharge with a roaming pack.

      So I am out.

      • Rubbish. You will receive SMS fine. Not calls except when using WiFi calling.
Friends of us were with Voda, and couldn't get SMS in Singapore. As a result, they were unable to sign up to Grab (dominant ridesharing service in Asia) and had to use taxi's the whole stay. Major pain.

        • I am simply reporting what customer service told me, in writing. Glad to hear if they are incorrect.

          • @gadgetguy: I know. Not criticising you. Criticising the customer service who confidently told you rubbish. Wouldn't want you to forego a good deal because of it.
I've been on Boost for years, typically churning out and back in. Any other network doesn't have enough coverage outside metropolitan areas. And I need those SMS's to work overseas.

  • Guys, you can receive all messages when you're overseas. You can make a call to Australia only when you're connected to WiFi. Apple phones are straightforward. With Android, you need to force the call through WiFi. I've used it plenty of times.

  • Grabbed 2. Thanks OP!

    • Not a problem at all.
      Thank you.

  • This is the cheapest boost mobile 12 months long prepaid plan now right? Not sure if $20 a month is good value anymore. Caveat from a 4 year long Boost user.

  • Does anyone know if you can switch to this from another Boost sim? I'm on a one month sim of there's but not sure if there's a way to switch over on the same provider.

    • Hi
You can not switch from Boost sim to Boost sim.
You have to port out your number to another network provider first and then you can port back your number to this sim.
There are some cheap other network sim options available which you add while buying this sim.
      Thanks

  • Hi is the $2 Optus Sim possible to port to then back to boost, it's just I've been caught out before with a $2 sim that you had to put more money on too use. If not are the other options usable for this purpose?

    • Hi,
Yes you are right. $2 sim need to be recharged on activation otherwise it can not be activated.
There are some cheap options avaiable for portimg sim on our website..
      Thanks

  • I don't think it will switch to 3G outside 4G

  • What's the latest on porting from Telstra post-paid to Boost? Does this require porting to a temporary SIM or a call to customer service, or can it be done like any other port?

  • It's now saying out of stock. Will this come back?
