Looks like a bargain to me!

    Dried up crap these days

With the amount of salt they chuck on it's like eating chicken jerky

  • opening night, but starts at 11am?

Rozelle included a drink. Wasn't bad at rozelle. Generally not good like the good old days in Granville.

As per usual, the moment something grows big enough to attract venture capital, the priority becomes the shareholders and not the food. EJ's quality has dropped off a cliff.

If you want charcoal chicken, just go to a local joint or Frango's. Way better, way cheaper and at least the money is going to the staff and owners and not an American investment firm.

Reminder that Frangos Kent Street has a long running deal for 1/2 charcoal chicken and large chips for $10 after 4pm. You get to skip the 1 day only hype lines too.

      • Whoa - thanks so much for this reminder. I recently moved back to the CBD office for work and this will come in handy!

        • I'm also interested if that Frango CBD deal is still current - butterflied charcoal chicken Portuguese style with chili instead of garlic - donkeys since I had it at Petersham - pix look appetising and appear to show something like garlic toum (zesty garlic sauce?) but dunno - https://www.frangos.com.au/

Enjoy Frangos while you can, they are 3-4 years behind El Jannah in the journey re private equity/sale.

      • +1 Frangos. Frangos is way better than El Jannah ever was.

    • My best friend is in private equity.

Lets just say, I would never buy a business off him, I would only invest alongside him.

That should tell you everything you need to know.

I remember when EJs used to be good.

For those sim slutting customers, it is not a deal.

    • Why not?

        A can of drink included.

Anyone can get new numbers for free from Aldi mobile esim and choose Family plan ;-)

        • Wait a minute, how does the family plan aldi mobile esim thing work?

          • @NotReallyaMoneySaver: Choose new number and choose family plan, so we don't have to recharge or pay anything for a plan. The number will be active for 7 days.

Aldi's physical sim card in-store is $2, but if we choose esim in its website and choose family plan, it's free.

            • @neoleo: I'm a little bit confused. Am I paying for the family esim plan though, while others get it for free?

The new stores aren't anything like the original Granville store, but up vote for a $5 meal/snack in the city.

  • Is there anything that PE doesn't ruin?

Chicken is so shit at EJs now.

    • Is there anything that PE doesn't ruin?

Apparently doesn't ruin the dodging of a solid critique of the entire system that encourages it.

Is there anything that PE doesn't ruin?

Yes, sir. I will not throw things at the teachers and shout "poison ball!".
      /s

  • Is this deal "1 per person" ?

Imagine the office lunch run and taking everyone's orders, not to mention the queues.

  • +1

Is it just me or has the pickles been omega salted these days?

  • +2

    Full of salt and dryness

Will they charge $5 for a drink?

  • Can we choose which quarter? I prefer the right thigh.

    • In other stores you can specify - so I can only assume you can do it here as well.

  • Shop owner said it's only for new members 5$ quarter chicken?

    Anybody else can verify?

    • I had to redeem the new member app promo. Was told by cashier that the $5 grand opening deal was for next Thurs which makes no sense to me.

      • We got scammed, call off the ozbargain army!

  • Yair - gone downhill since the single shop glory days of Granville - seems now franchises are the profit model these days with less care about quality - different owners often differ in the resulting product you get - last time was too dry - yeah nah thanks

Anyhoo - we have in the fridge the second meal leftovers of a whole medium-sized 1.6kg raw chicken from Coles for about $6.50 that I air-fryed easily 30 mins a side, and we will have that for lunch today

a quarter chicken for $5 after standing in a predictable queue for too long - or $1.60 for ours - ima go with the second one - while I like toum (garlic mousse), El Jannah's was not my favourite - that was Abdul's - now sadly closed.

  • Website says it is opening on the 14th.

Has anyone been there to see if they are open today?

    • They are indeed opened today, many were disappointed with the new members app only 5$

  • Very misleading. I went into store and they said you have to download the app and ita for new customers. They shud be hanged upside down for such misleading advertising. Ended up being in line for 30 mins and paying full price.

  • No gimmicks, no shortcuts. Just the authentic Lebanese charcoal chicken Sydney CBD has been waiting for — served up on a Thursday night, just the way it should be.

Does everything have to be written by AI these days?

  • +1

For $12 cut up Coles/Woolies roast chicken into 4's or 6's throw em' ziplock bags with peri peri sauce refrigerate, air fry reheat the next day. F! EJ

    • +1

Yep! Can't go wrong with the Bachelors handbag!

  • Bro this was on today - the line was insanely out the door

  • I really need to try this El Jannah before they go bust and depart us.
