Anyone know if this will be locked to Telstra, or can be used an any network?

  • +1

Is there such thing as locked to a network phone these days? Unless it's "Provider" stamped android phones.

    • +3

For flagships such as this? No. For budget phones such as this? Yes.

      • -2

Technically the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is the flagship of the S25 range. The Galaxy S25+ is more of the upper mid-range version and the base S25 is the lowest model. This was not the flagship model. So sorry you're not buying the flagship model here. You need to buy the Galaxy S25 Ultra to get that.

Any deals on S25 base? I want a smaller lighter phone…

    • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/957636 or search and there's a jb deal for 987 as well if you don't have EPP / edu / CommBank hello access to the Samsung partner portal .

909 , plus further discounts if you can access them

    • +2

If you want smaller and lighter then the base is indeed what you're looking for. But if you want the same size as the S25 Plus but still as light as the base, the S25 Edge is what you're looking for. :)

    • There's only a 28 gram difference between the base S25 and S25+ so how does that make any big difference at all?. Base S25 = 162g and S25+ is 190g. 28 grams is the weight of a few strawberries it's barely nothing.

Just bought this on amazon last week for $1187. PAIN…..

    • Yeah, could've used that $250 for new earbuds

      • +1

Honestly I was going to hold off but when JB ran out of stock and amazon ran out of stock on a few colours I panic bought what was left

        • +1

isn't it still within the returns window? amazon policy pretty generous, and sadly kinda abusable

  • Sorry newbie here.
Is it worth it at this price?
I am keeping an eye out for pixel 9 pro xl for 800-900 range. Is this a better option at this price?

    • +1

I've had pixels and galaxy S phones. Apart from photos, the galaxy S series phones will destroy everything else on the pixel. This is defs worth it at this price

      • Thanks for your help mate.

      • "apart from photos', that the only thing my partner cares. Guess I will have to wait for a pixel deal.

  • Another question please.
I recently had a Telstra sim that used to port to another provider. I can still login and add the phone to the card but at the checkout it says "minimum price: $949".
I haven't added any sim plan or anything. I am getting confused if Telstra are adding something by default.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    • +1

Never mind, ordered and got the order confirmation that says "what you pay today: $949, Monthly Cost: $0".

      Thanks OP.

Walked in Telstra shop and bought this phone. No Telstra ID or account required.

    • +1

Thanks for mentioning this, just did the same!

  • Thanks OP.

  • Thanks OP! Was waiting for good deal on Motorola Signature but I think this is a better phone. Bought this instead. I also didn't realise I have Telstra ID even though it has been many years since I last have a Telstra service. Unless if the ID was created when I signed up for Boost prepaid, can't remember.

    • You need a Telstra ID for BOOST Mobile so it was probably done from that.

  • Great deal for this top brand smartphone.

This wasn't on sale the other week when i bought the last unit ex display ZTE Nubia Z60 Ultra 16GB RAM 512GB storage smartphone from Mobileciti on clearance. But that was $850 delivered so i got cheaper last unit. It does have more RAM and storage in comparison. It was in brand new condition apparently never used just was on display. Real nice flagship model phone though just an older model. I thought that was a good deal. Bought as it officially supports Snapdragon Sound for my BOSE QC Ultra headphones. Samsung smartphones have no Snapdragon Sound support unfortunately which is a bit stupid so you couldn't get the most out of the BOSE QC Ultra headphones. Atleast it wasn't bought from Telstra.

  • Just collected mine, thanks once again OP!😊
Are there any deals for a good case?

    • +1

It seems harder to get a genuine case for this now that it's a last gen smartphone.

Genuine case $29.95 + delivery on sale. Made by Samsung. It may be good for you as the retailer Mobileciti is in Sydney you get free C&C. Or $37.75 delivered.

    • ProGadgets is having a sale on Spigen cases on ebay, they are apparently the official resellers of Spigen in Australia, just bought one yesterday and am waiting for delivery.
Some of the stock however is very low, almost no clear cases which is the one that I wanted.

      • S25+ Tough Armour out of stock.

    • Just bought this phone too. Im planning to get uag tough case from overseas. Might cost around 30$. Let me know if anyone is interested. I can bulk buy and send it to u guys. Can do pickup from Brisbane.

  • I have an old Telstra account from ~2 years ago when I was with boost but am getting an error saying can't process the order and need to buy a plan as well

    • If the credit or debit card on the Telstra account still legit. It hasn't expired?. Also you shouldn't have to buy a plan with an outright purchase option. Are you selecting the outright option under payment term?. If you select the 12, 24 or 36 month payment term it will make you purchase a plan with it. So make sure that the outright payment plan is selected you just need to pay the full $949 upfront but there's no plan purchase required.

      • Haven't reached the car stage but assuming the card is expired.

Picking the outright payment option and 'keep your current plan'. Can't see an option to not pick a plan at all

        • Just to see what happens. I just selected outright payment plan and keep your current plan and it went straight into the cart no problems. Total is $949 with no mention of any plan being required with purchase. That's as far as i went didnt buy it or any thing. I'm using Microsoft Edge browser. So maybe try a different web browser in case the current web browser your using has a cookie issue that just doesn't like the Telstra web site and is getting all confused. You should never be asked to select a mobile plan during the checkout ordering process if you choose the "keep your current plan" option. If you are then you have a web browser cookie issue.

Otherwise as an alternative if you still have issues there's a comment which states you can just walk into a Telstra shop and just buy this smartphone over the counter there for $949. I suppose so long as the Telstra shop still has stock.

    • I ported out of Telstra to another provider, albeit recently. At the moment I have no plans with Telstra. I bought one online yesterday by selecting 'Outright' and 'Keep you existing plan'. Collected an hour later from the store without any issues.

  • FYI JB won't price match for their stock and will order via Telstra for home delivery. Cannot use vouchers.

    • Probably because Telstra has it listed as clearance and JB won't price match against a clearance. It's an official price match exemption.

  • I have used telstra points got it for $877.50

  • Is it possible to get this deal if you don't have a current Telstra account?

  • Good find, thanks for sharing!

  • It looks like you can set up a telstra plus account without any plan and add this to cart succesfully. Haven't ordered one, no money :)

  • Picked one up from port Melbourne, they seem to have decent stock.

  • I'm waiting for a case to arrive today before switching but so far I'm really impressed.

My current phone is an oppo find x2 pro, so not a slouch and a very nice looking phone, but I instantly felt the upgrade in performance and the screen quality of the s25+. The cameras and speakers are much better despite the lower listed specs.
The shutter speed on the camera is awesome, I took a bunch of clear photos of my kids, where normally I'd have to delete a bunch of blurred photos before finding a decent one.

The screen is something else, it's gorgeous! It's the first phone I used where HDR content actually popped, pity the camera hole is there to take away from it.

I even like it over my wife's pixel in pretty much every way.

    My initial criticisms are:

    1. the square apple style shell. It's nowhere near as nice/comfortable in the hand as any of my older phones. I would have preferred rounded edges.
    2. The lack of s pen support. It was a great feature on the note series but not important enough to justify buying an ultra. They could have made it compatible without a dedicated slot and charger in the phone itself, like they've done with some higher end tablets.
    3. Having nothing else in the box, it's a super premium phone but the stinginess cheapens the experience. Not a big deal but the Oppo had a 65w fast charger, a case and a preinstalled screen protector, so you were ready to go, I guess oppo just set a really high bar.
    • +1

Agree on all the points. It's blazing fast with snapdragon chip

  • There is still stock available for these at some retail Telstra shops.

  • Bought 1 in Telstra today. Thanks OP.
Looking for a magsafe case, any recommandation?
