Just in time for mothers day

    • +2

      This is best for mothers-in-law.

  • Bought it last week for $169……..just my luck

    • You been happy with it?

      • havent used it yet but ripped it out of the box, but reviews seem ok for the brushless. warranty helps

      • Yeah, I thought it was great, used it to trim a citrus tree that was growing too tall and too dangerous to prune on a wobbly foot ladder. This made it super simple.

      • I got one at the $169 price and been really happy with it. Used it to trim the lilly pilly in front of my shed. Snip the tops off using the pole, and then just use the hand unit to snip these down to green bin size. So simple. Cuts through surprisingly thick branches with ease.

I also have the Ozito PXC polesaw, but that is better for branches that are 75+ cm thick. On the lighter stuff it bounces too much.

I love the PXC stuff, the 36V tools - lawnmower, chainsaw, whipper snipper - have enough grunt for the job, and are MUCH easier to start than small petrol engines.

      • Been using it for a couple weeks now and it is brilliant. Night and day compared to the brushed one as well. Recommended

Buy and return with old receipt… totally worth it for 40 bucks return

      • +1

Would it be better for the store to do the price difference to save customer's time and human resource since it happens again and again all year round.

        • +1

Are they happy to do this or is it just luck of the draw with the team member at the customer desk?

      • Done!

    • +1

Possibly it goes $20 less in a month or two.

    • +4

Buy this and return immediately on old receipt. The ozb way

      • How old can the old receipt be?

        • I'm pretty sure Bunnings doesn't give a specific timeframe for their returns.
At least this is the case with OnePass.

  • Says $169 for me?

    • For some odd reason it depends on the location you mark as pickup. Just change it to a different location.

  • I'm trying to get my head around the actual reach of this thing.

The aluminium extension pole is continuously lockable between 1.6m and 2.2m, allowing you to reach up to 3.8m while keeping your feet firmly planted on the ground

Where did the extra 1.6m come from?

    • +19

      You

      • That was my assumption - it's just really odd to market it as "reach up to 3.8m" based on the ceiling of height being 160cm.

        • +2

Have you ever worked with anyone from marketing?

This is child's play compared to the shit claims they tried to pull when I worked in corporate pharmaceuticals.

  • +1

Thanks was looking at buying just the secateurs. Just given my ozito brushless pruning chainsaw a hiding and still going strong, starting to like this brand.

    • To swapable I think it needs a chainsaw that can fit this pole something like this?
      https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-36v-2-x-18-brushless-4…

    • +1

Question: Why get this above the pruning chainsaw? I can see this being useful in situations where it is used a lot - less noise and maintenance - but the chainsaw can do what this does and a whole lot more.

      • Your right chainsaw will do 99% of what I need but i've got a large bougainvillea and secateurs will work better thats all.

  • Does this have the ability to connect the pole/extension to any other Ozito tools? I remember some of them having the ability to connect to mini saws etc.

  • 28mm Cutting capacity – Perfect for soft (fresh) greenwood up to Ø28mm and woody (dry) stems, twigs and branches up to Ø14mm.

  • +3

Note: If you want to cut anything thicker than 28mm, but don't want to go all the way to their Chainsaws, this is very good. I got it cause I want to cut thicker branches, but not quite at full tree stump level.

If you're in the Ferrex (Aldi) ecosystem, Ferrex mini chainsaw skin $49.99

      • +1

Are there any reviews of this upcoming ALDI mini chainsaw and is it brushless and low maintenance? Thanks

      • What would be the closest model if you are in the Ryobi ecosystem?

    • No stock in Sydney

How does it get used? Does one person hold the pole near the battery and the other have to go up the ladder and squeeze the trigger on the secaueteurs?
Does it use two batteries, one at the top and one at the bottom?

    • +4

Not sure if this is a joke, but the battery goes at the base with a trigger and it remotely controls the pruner up top. so one person use on the ground.

      • Thankyou, I'll give it a go and hopefully you are right as my husband doesn't help much around the garden as he is in a wheelchair, so having him hold it at the bottom would mean less reach and he couldn't go on the ladder, either, because if he is climbing up and holding on he won't be able to operate the secetuaiir trigger.

        • +2

You can see in the second picture, How the guy is holding the the pruner, with the pruner on the extension pole :) - Just see if the weight is a problem as holding it upright can become tiring.

It sounds like the pole can be extended from 1.6m and 2.2m

          https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-brushless-pruning-…

  • if you already have a tall ladder, is this needed at all?

    • +8

Sure if you have to cut something 8 metres tall

    • +3

You could stand on the 2m ladder, then your own height + arm length would give 2.5m, and then this at 3.8m meaning you could cut branches 8.3 metres away.
If you add a small picnic table below the ladder you could get to 9.2m distance.

      • Lol you are not serious right?

      • +6

Maximise reach by setting ladder up on sloped uneven ground and don’t be afraid to use top rung of ladder.

        • +2
        • +1

Also you can stand with one leg only and tippie toe for max balance. Perhaps don't bother hanging on the ladder with other hand also. Just YOLO it.

          • @Naigrabzo: the other day had to get up on the ladder (extension style leaning against wall) and was just 1 rung short of reaching where i had to reach - had to use a manual rivet gun at the top too.
decided to yolo it and got it get up past the safe rung , just to get it done but was sweating bullets for sure.

      • +2

Classic I see you have not fallen off at any height before

        • +1

I have the balance of a mountain goat

    • This can ruduce the risk of falling of the ladders depening on individual weight.

  • +6

Grabbed this a few months back. It’s a lot more powerful than the lower spec Ozito Secateurs. It is a little annoying with its safety feature of going to standby mode if you don’t use it for x seconds. A double tap of the handle wakes it up. May confuse older people. I often use this and the old one in each hand if cutting a pile of branches into small pieces for the bin. The pole is super handy too. 10/10 would buy again

    • +2

second this, i used and returned the old brushed secatuers which were slow and had soft blades. the brushless one is much better, faster and the blades seem to be properly hardened. the pole makes it super handy.

    • +1

Also bought this a couple of weeks ago . I was surprised it didn't have a secondary safety switch as the ryobi I have previously used . This thing would lop off a finger off very easily .
I was using it with a 4Ah and it lasted all day being used quite heavily stripping branches ready for the chipper .
At $129 with the pole and a battery I'd definately rate it as a bargain .

      • I agree about the safety thing. I bought one this week and it is awesome but far out, you really want to be super careful - it is a weapon. It would easily take your finger off without flinching

    • +3

      Edward pruner hands

  • +2

I think this is the same one that I paid $199 for. Happy even at that price

    • +1

Yer I brought one for $169 and happy with it as well. Always hate missing a bargain, but you roll the dice sometimes.

  • +2

A Fiskers manual pruner is thinner, lighter, more maneuverable, has greater reach and cutting diameter, and will last longer.
Apart from the orange guide-like section on the upper jaw, the one I've been using for years looks the same as the current version.

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/fiskars-powergearx-upx82-tree-pr…

    • Manual is also good to have but at this price I will wait.

    • Wouldn't this deal be better given its electric and cheaper than the Fisker?

      • +2

Given the price, the electric alternative is a better deal if it does the job for you. I don’t have the secateurs listed, but I guess it all depends on what you need to cut. If it’s tall unruly hedges like I have, lifting a 4kg electric secateur 2+ metres in the air while trying to position it through a mass of foliage could become a tiresome exercise. I have an Ozito cordless pruner which I use to cut thicker branches (linked below). When it's hanging two meters above, it's too weighty, so I try to quickly move it onto the branch that needs to be cut. I cut all the smaller branches with the Fiskars, which is taller, lighter, and thinner, making it much easier to position and use than an electric alternative, IMO.

        https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-cordless-pole-prun…

    • I have a different Fiskers pruner and agree the thinness and lightweight makes it easier to handle when fully extended. Big Ozito fan but when you need to extend out it is just too heavy to manage, for me at least.

  • I’ve being eyeing off the smaller brushless secateurs for a while to trim some tall thick overgrown Murraya hedges and have hesitated because of having to use a ladder in awkward areas. Is it safe to assume that this is the smaller brushless set but just on a long pole? If so, I’m heading to Bunnings!

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-brushless-pruning-…

  • I've used this Ryobi one for years, but recently killed it- https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-18v-one-32mm-lopper-olp183…. anyone know how it compares to this ozito?

  • +2

Is this good for trimming bamboo trunks or is a mini chainsaw better?

  • +1

    Great, grabbed them.

I’ve had the brushed Ozito secateurs for about four months and, honestly, they’ve been okay, although the blade is quite soft. These being brushless + extension pole = no brainer.

  • +1

It says 'New Lower Price' So I wonder if it is an ongoing item, rather than clearance?

    • +1

I was told the other week by a staff member that $169 was a cheap price for a special run kit considering the skin alone was the same price.

    • I am wondering that too. usually new lower price items are ongoing.

  • +2

I have this and its ok, gets used once every 3 years. Different brand. I use it to cut coconuts from coconut tree but I have to climb the tree half way but still get tired holding it with 1 hand. It is ok though as the battery will last a long time and there is not enough coconuts on a coconut tree to drain the battery which is good. So for coconut trees these are ok. I haven't used it on a different tree so I don't know if it will work as good. Maybe an Apple tree? But I don't have an Apple tree to try this out on.

  • +2

A real shame this doesn't come with a hedge trimmer attachment. Virtually all of our bushes that are out of reach are pretty thin.

    • Yea I am tempted but am going to hold out for a kit that also has a hedge trimmer. Versatility would be really helpful.

  • +4

Just bought this. Good kit. Secateurs are the brushless variety (model PXBPS-1828), with a RRP of $169 (skin only). This kit includes battery+fast charger+extension pole at $129; it’s a no-brainer. The branch hook at the top is metal, the Aluminium pole at full extension does has some flex (as is to be expected) but it is still quite sturdy - just don’t put too much weight/force on it as it would have the potential to bend without too much effort. Not used it to chop branches yet; I’ll report back on that tomorrow.
Update: there is a metal guard (battery protector?) that needs to be screwed to the handle-end of the extension pole. This needs assembly. There are 4 screws sealed in a small brown paper packet inside the box. The paper packet is the same colour as the brown cardboard, so check carefully or you may miss them, and don’t throw out to box too quickly.

    • the Secateurs looks really solid, compared with the Makita one ($300+) it feel similar quality. also check with Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP Brushless Pruning Secateurs. this Ozito feel more slim and compact.

However the extension pole feels a bit loose and fragile though.

      Overall it's a good buy at $129.

      • Agreed, pole is a bit on the fragile side. If purchasers acknowledge that, and logically are more careful with it the it should last. The pole really is just to get the working blades up to the high position, but not for applying to much force.

I’ve have the same issue (and advice) with the elec Ozito chainsaw on the extension pole. Just take it easy with the pole and let the blade/chain do the hard work.

    • +1

Yeah I nearly lost those screws. Hidden well in box

      • Mine were floating loose in the box …

  • This or https://share.google/g5G3ets91xsF7bJCr for dwarf olive tree that has grown 4meter tall.

  • Thanks for sharing! I need to trim the neighbours tree overhang and hopefully this will do the trick nicely!

  • Needed this, but oos in Bunnings my area :(

    • Check back if you are in Vic … I noticed none yesterday but able to click and collect today.

  • +1

Just bought it last week at $169
    Great piece of kit
Not happy about the new lower price.

Has anyone successfully bought one at $129 and returned it using the $169 docket?
Are there any identifying numbers or codes that can catch you out?

    • Has to be same code etc… long as its the same kit with battery etc…
If it's only a week just talk to Bunnings, they should just refund you the difference.

Otherwise just go in and find it/scan it(make sure its $129)/return original/buy

    • someone in this thread has already done it… check the comments out
