    • surely that's not the case?

  • +25 dollars locker charge and towel charge

    • Then I shall go in naked, tvm

    • You just take a your own towel, and small back pack. There are hangers at each pool so you just hang your towel and backpack at the pool you in. We do it all the time. The difference these pools make to my aching body is amazing, I normally would be sceptic but the difference is profound for me.

  • Ticket price has gone up crazy, single adult ticket is now $80, it was only around $15-$20 a few years ago.
it's just not worth visiting there anymore.
Will fly to Japan for a real natural hot springs instead.

    • That's wild! I know its been a few years but last time I was there it was around $36 or something at peak time. The water comes out hot, what the hell are they doing over there? Sounds like typical corporate business model, we want less kids and common people so we'll raise the prices, maintain our profit margins and be more exclusive.

      • Still plenty of kids when I went earlier this year. I am not really sure why warm water is appealing to kids? There's no kid features or anything.

        • Dumb parents thinking it's a pool

          • @King Steuart: More like parents that can't leave the kids with anyone.

        • No kid features at the cold public pool either

      • Sounds like typical corporate business model, we want less kids and common people so we'll raise the prices, maintain our profit margins and be more exclusive.

It's just the effects of social media.

People do things they see influencers doing, and to show off to their friends, not necessarily things that they would enjoy.

As a result, we see places that are spruiked by influencers (e.g. this, certain travel destinations…etc.) become super busy and crowded, whilst more niche hobbies and interests that people used to have is just slowly dying out.

        • So true. When I go to Peninsula or Philip Island it appears people appear in droves for certain sights or cafes. Like they googled what’s best before leaving the house

          • @Vomo:

Like they googled what’s best before leaving the house

Yeah, which I think is a bit unfortunate because it's easy for feedback loops to form - some place gets a few visitors, it goes viral, which gets more visitors, which then leads to more visitors…etc.

I've seen so many people make holiday decisions based on where they see others going, what they want to show on social media, what they think it says about them…etc. rather than what they would truly enjoy and actually like and appreciate. It's really unfortunate.

    • I was there in 2019, 7 years ago, and it was $75 for the day on a weekday. Went in 2022 and it was $85 for the day on a Saturday. Today it's $80…. Not sure where your claim of $15-$20 just a few years ago comes from?

      • During the good old days, if you entered before 9am, you only pay $20 and you may stay there until closing.
Non-peak period + weekdays only of course.

        • If you arrive before 9am or after 6pm with this deal it's only $30/person, so hasn't gone up that much

          • @Jolakot: Nah, it now costs $60 for a single adult entry before 8:30am.
            Not everyone visit in pairs.

            • @AsukaST: Yes, with this deal it's $30/person, just find another lonely singleton in the line or in the carpark, a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet.

              • @Jolakot: Or the stranger could be the last face you ever see

                • @illusion99: What are the chances we're both strangers? Oh wait.

                • @illusion99: So you either get discounted hotspring bathing, or you get a Netflix docco (or at the very least a Wikipedia page) made about you, sounds like a win win doesn't it?

Like don't threaten me with a good time over here.

      • Ah i just checked I was there in late 2017 and it was $45 for Saturday. So yer it's been a bit longer than I remembered .

      • In 2016 it was $40 each.

        • so was a tank of petrol .. whats your point

    • Ever since Covid they took the opportunity to change their business model. As you say it used to be cheap and your entry last the whole day. Now it’s expensive and has time limits. Enshittification.

      • How do they enforce the time limits, do you they check your fingers as you exit and charge extra if they're wrinkled?

        • They used to set different time sessions during a day, like everyone have to leave the venue at 12 noon and 5pm or similar.
Not sure if they still do it this way.

        • No one checks bro

Source- we tend to stay there from 9-9 once a term break.

We bring our own bags, towels to avoid paying for surchargers and also bring our own food.

    • This isn't a real natural hot spring?

      • it is, 650 metres deep, naturally hot, they just have to cool it down.

        • How hot that they need to cool it down?

    • The place is always packed, even with the higher prices. I guess they're just playing with prices to keep it close to capacity, like any business would to balance supply and demand.

    • Yeah most of us have been priced out of supporting local businesses even if we want to. They mostly just cater for tourists now.

    • Do you recommend any other places locally (Vic…)

      • There is another one across the road. It's more modern with better change rooms and shower facilitates. Usually cheaper and less crowded as well.

  • Weekdays only (Mon–Fri)

  • Had been there probably 7-8 years ago, pleasant experience. Initially felt bad for them when all the news hit about the foreign investors setup a new place across the road. That’s until I went there 2 years ago with the wife ( $300 wedding gift), way over priced for what’s on offer. Sure they have expanded and put in more pools since years ago but the place isn’t been run well. Mold all over the showers and changing rooms. Just like visiting your local pool but paying a premium for the soothing music being pumped in

    • I was there on the weekend, and go regularly. I would not agree with your experience from 2 yrs ago except for some of the packages are pricey. You can just do entry and for cheap if you pick off peak and its well worth the money. My body always thanks me when I have had few hours in their hotsprings. The change rooms are very clean and interesting fact they drain every pool every night and scrub them.

      • Few hours? Crikey.

I'd be done in an hour in most bodies of water

      • Good to hear, maybe they’ve cleaned up their act since I was last there late 2023. Agree with you re packages, value is non school holidays and cheapest options. Would never do a package (ours was part of a gift voucher), the bath robes they have there would strip paint off a fence

      • I highly doubt they drain the water every night, it always reeks of chlorine

        • Oh really? So not like being in a natural hotspring at all? Heavily Chlorinated water would make it a no go for me.

        • Well is a copy and paste from the FAQ, but I knew from talking to staff that do the work. how do you clean the pools?
We take the hygiene of our pools very seriously. Each night when we close, our pools are completely drained and thoroughly cleaned by our experienced pools team, ready to be refilled each morning with fresh natural geothermal mineral water from an underground reservoir 637 metres below the surface. As the water reaches the pools, the water is at a temperature of 45°C. Throughout the day, fresh thermal mineral water flows constantly into the pools to maintain warmth and cleanliness.

Just as we have a team caring for you, we also have a dedicated pool team caring for our water. Our team are constantly monitoring the water to keep record of its condition. You may see Pool Attendants taking readings of each pool during your visit.

          • @ajkaos: Thats all marketing 🙄

            • @anoykw: Well first wrote about this cause I was chatting to the staff, then you questioned it with doubt, so I provided some proof. So have it from 2 sources, what you got, NFI ?

  • Has all the construction/renovations finished up? There were doing a bit of early last year

  • Can this be redeemed as a giftcard?

  • I assume prices are high to reduce the crowd. Place is supposed to be relaxing, crowds just turn it to a fun pool park. Better to keep reputation as a "special" visit.

    • They can always limit the number of visitors on each day through the booking system?

      • If tickets are priced low, you want more sales.

        • You want more sales while you don't want them to show up? If not, it means to be crowded.

          • @bcYield: If you don't know what I'm implying, forget it.

    • It's valid on weekdays for a period of time. The 29th of May is a Friday, so the last weekday of a period. How is that arbitrarily restrictive? Many price promotions from many providers have end dates on them.

    • Wait until you hear about expiry dates on food.

      • Wait until you hear what arbitrary means.

  • Five dollars for hot springs in many places of Queensland outback.
Here is one I went a couple years ago:

    https://maps.apple/p/aKZGpxir56.L1I

    • It looks like a pool but not a natural hot bath to me.

      • It’s a pool filled with natural hot springs water as the case in many towns on the basin.

    • It says st.George aquatics when you click the link.🫣

      • There is a hot spring pool there for 5$ entry if you are able to find the website. Google street maps should do.

  • Perfect timing! I just asked all my friends who wants to join me for a warm bath.

    Then I saw this deal.

  • lol. I went there 10 years ago, it was $15.

    • By this logic, it will be $200 in the next 10 years.

  • Fro memory the 2 for 1 used to include the robe/locker/towel hire, now it seems like it's only for the entry. Went from being $75-85 total to $100-110 + surcharge for evenings

  • Seems they have extended the offer till Jun 26, 2026, yay!
