Much tighter around the ankle to the point they are a pain to put on. And I've got skinny ankles. Also the cushioning is not as good. I definitely feel more tired when wearing these than the old type.
Correct. Once they're on they're OK. Taking them on and off is a huge PITA. Also the tread started wearing away after 3 months of wear so made with cheap materials too. Avoid UB.

@Pete Gabitas: Get brooks ghost. Look great and great quality. I don't buy Asics or Nike anymore, just Brooks.
Cloth material is different also feels a little bulkier and I can see my white socks through tiny holes(assuming ventilation holes) on the top face of the shoes (above toes)

people always saying this but i wonder if it's a bit of hype. it was weird how many people were recommending them given that adidas has never really been a good running shoe brand.
I ended up going On Cloud X4 shoes for a Europe trip recently and they were really good.
The 2 runners in the London marathon under 2hrs were wearing Adidas.

I've also tried on the adizero shoes and they felt like they'd be good for about 10 wears for they fall to pieces.

I used to have ultraboost 3.0(they're OK); tried cloudmonster, cloudswift and currently own a pair of cloudrunner 2.
None of them are close to offering the same comfort as my new balance 1080v12 and 1080v14.
@wombok2: The on clouds were good for walking around, and had maximum style points. successful purchase. There is something going on with the people constantly recommending the Adidas shoes which are pretty unremarkable.
@Budju: From a runners perspective, Adidas make high quality running shoes with the premium lines in their Adizero range.
At the right price, I'm just as likely to value an Adizero for my feet as I would NB 1080s, Nike Pegs/Vomero, Asics Novoblast/Nimbus, Brooks Ghost/Glycerin, Puma Nitro's, Saucony Endophins/Triumphs.
I've never liked the styling of Adidas. I think a lot of us growing up in the 90s/00s have cultural associations with them (e.g. eshay, middle-age tracksuits, etc.). I tend to favour a more muted colourway when I buy Adidas because of it, something that tones down or minimises the branding and stripes. That being said, I find the Adizero designs pleasing, they certainly have rep amongst runners.
Anything on the budget end of Adidas is fairly trash, I've tried one or two models (not to be a dedicated runner, just an everyday commuter). But I'm sure you can say this about all brands, you get what you pay for.
On Cloud have a particular reputation among runners as being a bit of a joke or try-hard runners shoe, more of a marketing angle with their designs. Individuals can vary, and I'd be interested to hear from a runner who find value in one of their models, but so far they are just seen as a gimmick. It seems their designs are more angled to a male youth aesthetic market, not for function.
@muwu: I don't use my On Cloud's for running (although I did about 4 or 5 in Europe with them because it's what I had). Currently running with Mizuno Wave Riders, and sometimes Hoka Cliftons for a laugh. Like I say, On Clouds are a good shoe for general purpose walking around town that look decent that can manage occasional running. They also seem very durable and still look like new even after a few hundred KMs. I didn't find the On Cloud X4 terrible for running, it wasn't that noticeable either way. Adizero is so flimsy they won't last very long before getting holes in the shoe's upper. There is going to be a different calculation for very competitive runners that don't care if the shoe is doesn't last and gives them a good result on race day because the upper is made out of thin paper mache.
@Budju: Saying Adidas is no good at running while bigging up On and Hoka of all brands, is so far from reality it's almost worth dismissing outright as trolling, especially when it comes to durability which is demonstrated to be excellent for Adidas shoes and shocking for Hoka. And by reality, I mean both actual testing (from the likes of runrepeat or rtings), and the vast majority of actual runners reporting their experiences.
Saying you think their durability is poor cause you felt the upper is thin is almost meaningless when a) the upper is usually the last thing to wear out, long after the midsole and outsole are well and truly cooked, and b) most serious running brands are specifically shaving as much weight out of their uppers as possible to optimise performance. The likes of Hoka and especially On don't compare with their every day sneaker type uppers.
Adidas have a legit claim to be the absolute top tier running shoe brand in 2026, and even going back years to pre-carbon the Boston and Adios series were popular classics for marathoners. Even Ultraboost was groundbreaking at release with its Boost foam vs the bog standard EVA in every other shoe at the time. When it comes to durability they are literally famous for it vs the competition (e.g. Boost vs EVA, Adios Pro 3 vs Alphafly/Vaporfly).
I realise this comes off as Adidas shilling, but couldn't resist setting the record straight on the off chance others come across this!
@Soothsayer: Big upping Hoka and On for running, when did I do that? Wild comment. I big up Mizuno, strange that you didn't mention the only shoe I did big up with your off-base rant. Adizero is going to have poor upper durability for sure, you seem to be strawmanning a little bit too much for this to be worth continuing.

These are in my rotation as I train for an upcoming marathon.
They're fantastic for comfort for zone 2 easy running - but the durability isn't great. The material is so soft - that it deteriorates very quickly. I don't see these lasting any more than 250km of running - where most of my shoes make 500km

Two recommendations:
Both are very similar - great in most situations, comfortable, durable - can stand up to plenty of kms. It's hard to go wrong with either.
That said, I find the Adidas Supernova better - they're more comfortable in the mid-sole, have a better energy return (ie. feel faster), and are lighter. The toe box is a bit tighter though, so that may be a factor for you.

The Ultraboosts have been known as one of the most comfortable shoes the past decade. The white ones are definitely fashionable amongst the younger generations.

Over priced for a casual shoe. And if I was buying for running, Evo SL, Boston 13, SL2 even the Supernova would be similar price (or cheaper) yet better choices in Adidas range to buy better performance better value.
So if you are thinking of getting into running please do not buy Ultraboost.

I wouldn't touch these brands with a barge pole. I've gone through all of them (including On) and nothing was more comfortable and longer lasting than adidas for my flat feet.

I feel like adidas has declined in quality over the years. All my shoes fall apart. Ultraboosts in particular tend to develop a noise when stepping, i think the foam bottom develops a crack (despite not wearing them much). It also chips away so you end up having specks of white show, its also glued cheaply so it will often tend to split and start showing white there as you walk. (i have owned over 5 UB 1.0 and DNA, this is just my experience).
A few shirts i've bought for the gym/running/walking have also developed loose threads after a wash or two. Maybe i've just been unlucky.
These were good 10 years ago when there was nothing like it. Now there are just so many better technologies including Adidas own lineup. Would not buy in 2026
